An incredibly underrated and overlooked British Band of the 80's. Rolands voice along with music that's hard not to want to jig along with earned them hit after hit on the UK charts. 'I'm Not The Man I Used To Be' and 'Ever Fallen In Love' are perfect examples of this. For me personally, their Album 'The Raw & The Cooked' was one of the best albums of the decade.

I'm sure y'all have been told this before, but the reason 80s videos were so absolutely wild and random was because MTV had of course just came into being, and /everybody/ had to make a video for their songs. FYC is one of my all time faves! The singer was previously with The English Beat which you should most def go on a deep dive into as well. At the tail end, a suggested video came up on your screen called "Small Town Boy" by Bronski Beat. You GOTTA hear it. It's a STUNNER.

Roland Gift was never actually with The Beat, the band he was with called Akrylykz toured with The Beat on their last tour and once The Beat broke up the Guitarist and Bass player for The Beat remembering how good Roland's voice was gotten touch and asked him to be the vocalist for their new band The Fine Young Cannibles. Ranking Roger was the main vocalist for The Beat or English Beat in the US.

A very INXS sound... Still LOVING this song 34+ years later... I also love that you can interject any color of hair and the song still works... 80's HITS... 1. "Tarzan Boy" by Baltimora 2. "One Night in Bangkok" by Murray Head 3. "Rock Me Amedeus" by Falco 4. "99 Luft Ballons (German) or 99 Red Ballons (English)" by Nena (female lead singer/Friday). I honestly feel the German version truly conveys the meaning/feeling of the song far better that the "bubblegum" feeling of the English version. The song is about a phrase of the balloons going up as the start of World War III. Living less than 150 km's from the East German border in 1983 (when this song was released) also tugs at my heart about just how close the world came to the END that fall...AND 5. "Always On My Mind" by the Pet Shop Boys. Easily on par with the Elvis version...

I love finding these channels. As a child of the 80s, It’s so disheartening that most younger generations, don’t want to know the music we listened to. Sadly my almost 12 year old is that way (despite many attempts by me in different ways) So I’m all about this :) Idk if anyone said anything in the other comments; but the difference in his vocals between the verses and chorus, is because he’s using his falsetto voice.

I remember my friends and I geeking out at the clubs jumping around on the dance floors like the characters in this video. This band had some new wave pedigree behind it; the singer, Roland Gift, was an early scenester in London's early punk scene in the mid 70s, while the guitarist and bass player were both in The Beat (The English Beat in The States) part of the early 80s ska revival in the UK. This takes me waaaaay back to Medusa's in Chicago in the late 80s . . .
