@@qwazyd0gg so far none of the suggestions worked for me. I am at the point where I am going to try and reinstall the firmware. I was able to get the firmware from Hisense. they said a fix is coming soon. they are not giving out the beta software anymore. Can you tell me how to install the update after I have unzipped it on to a USB Flashdrive ?
Your the Hisense whisperer. You helped me a lot getting my H8G sorted out. It’s annoying to me that tv’s require so much adjustments to get the picture correct, information most people don’t know.
Hahaha, thanks Mike! I know a lot of manufacturers are leaning heavily on “Filmmaker Mode” as it’s somewhat of a universal standard to get content looking similar and mostly accurate on a wide variety of panels. I don’t use it myself tbh because I like finer controls, but I agree that sometimes it feels like you need a degree of some sort to run todays everyday electronics lol.
Your bit about how to rollback the firmware was SO HELPFUL. Thank you! I was wondering about that. I'd gotten advice on starting fresh with the old firmware but when it was done I was so confused to see that the version was still M0210 lol. Obviously, it rolled back and then updated automatically. Now it makes total sense. I've had M0210 for a while and am still having weird ghosting issues, some of which I've not seen anyone else describe and I've only noticed since the firmware update (I've got U8G 65"). So I'm hoping it's not an issue with my panel and a full reset could help :(.
Once again good info. I already reached out too Hisense for the beta. Gonna be releasing the u7g info by sunday. Awesome u get the u8g on lock while I cover the u7g😁. Also the 12bit works until your get in game. Once there you will revert back to 10bit by default until your go back to the menu or sertings
EOTF with the new firmware is fixed in IMAX mode but HDR Theatre and Filmmaker mode are still both broken. This is the single biggest issue with the TV that Hisense don't seem to understand.
I haven’t noticed; however, I have a calibration set in standard mode myself. I tend to work off the default as I find that is what is often tested in beta rollouts, so I can easily carry my settings forward when testing.
Dude thank you for keeping us updated. I had already solved the hdr issue with Xbox series X and it worked, but Active Contrast is not working with game mode. Callled Hisense, they recommended factory reset and still no fix. I won't risk side loading so I hope Hisense eventually does a another update. Don't get me wrong, I'm still getting an awesome picture on the Series X, but I kinda feel it would be even better with Active Contrast. So, I'll cross my fingers and wait.
I play a wide variety of games and actually prefer AC set to off. I found it crushed a lot of the dark scenes for me in Gears of War 5 and had a hard time figuring out what to do between extremes dark scenes switching to extreme bright scenes. Don’t be scared of the sideload. It’s as easy as putting a single file onto a usb stick, power cycling the tv, and waiting. The only reason I chose not to host the file or make a video about doing it is because of the small risk of bricking the panel. It’s unlikely to happen providing you don’t power cycle or remove the drive during the installation though.
In 60Hz 4K? I believe the 68G is just hdmi 2.0 and a 60hz panel. If so, make sure you’re using hdmi enhanced to enable hdr and Dolby vision in compatible games
I did and the xbox recognizes that the tv is hdr capable. However when i turn on hdr, the colors are dull, dim and washed out... reached out to hisense and they didn't help at first, then never answered despite many messages
That is an issue with M0210 right now for some users. A factory reset may fix it, and if not, M0422 should be rolling out soon which addresses the concerns and corrects them.
@@qwazyd0gg okay really really weird but I just fixed it.. I turned VRR on and off and on again and turned off freesync and local dimming and everything else immediately came back on..
Actually, I think IIRC, Low Latency Mode triggers Freesync on in the new software in Game Mode. Must have needed toggled back and forth to force it off so everything else could work properly.
I’m glad to see videos on the U8g. You must like this tv a lot? I feel the Samsung QN90b doesn’t even match up to this Hisense in regards to blooming. Can’t wait for the Hisense u8h…
I love my U8G! I had the Q9G previously and been waiting for the true 120hz version to launch. U8H “could” be good, but so far most MiniLED systems have been bloom machines, so only time will tell.
I bought an E7HQ, and it has some sort of auto contrast or auto backlight permanently turned on with the latest M0907 update (I disabled every setting that messes with post processing as soon as I got the TV, I'm not a tech wizard, but I definitely know what I needed to do to turn this stupid effect off). Let me tell you! Gaming is hard with a flashing screen... in FIFA it's not noticeable at all because you're in a lit area, but in GTA V, look at the sky, picture brightness changes, look at the ground it changes again. I played a race in GTA online and it had that red and white pattern on the side of the track, and my eyes can't take it. I am definitely thinking about factory resetting the TV, and if it doesn't work, I'd try to return it and get another model if possible, and this will be really hard because I am not in a rich country, and it's not easy to replace things that aren't really broken, especially when it's a stupid software bug. It's sad when a decent TV is useless trash because of it's "smart features".
@@qwazyd0gg If you mean the smart scene setting, I turned that off too, gaming mode on or off doesn't matter either, it does it on all 3 HDMI ports, PC, PS5 and TV. It doesn't do it in the apps on the TV though. For example, youtube when played from PC has this problem, while played natively from the TV it doesn't. btw this TV model, or at least the crappy Vidaa OS doesn't offer any power options, so I can't check if this is an eco or power saving feature.
Last night for the first time without doing anything! My Hisense U7G worked amazing. Before HDR wash washed up and Active Contrast didn't work. For 3 or 4 hours of game play it looked amazing and operated great! Until today, it's all down the drain and everything is not working correctly. Wtf!
You’re not wrong, but at least it’s progress. There are still a ton of more expensive TVs doing a worse job at keeping users up to date with next gen features, so I’m glad to see some valiant attempts being made
BRO YOU ROCK i did the reset you said and boom my tv is perfect now for a pc monitor at 4k 120hz no more washed out hdr im happy THANKS BUDDY 55u8g btw factory reset
🙄 that’s not good to hear. I would assume they’ve received enough reports by now to know what the main issues are when people explain what’s happening after the update.
My only issue is that, upon booting up the Hisense logo screen looks grey and then the android tv load up looks amazing super dark and rich and also on Xbox series x the blacks look grey it’s horrible almost looks like 7 year old Samsung
i got the firmware m0210 from hisense by email i was i having issues with that firmware then i told them i wanted to roll back they gave me the old firmware so what i did i install the old firmware and let the new update kick in OTA because what im thinking is the new m0210 firmware was still being worked on when it was sent to me by email m0210 before it went OTA .everything good so far and i was told there another update coming soon hope this help someone love the channel
Maybe it's just me but when I watch prime or Netflix hdr or Dolby vision I consider it dim and I bought this to handle that material because of the extreme brightness.i have Canadian version u8g.Shouldn't the content look better than sdr?
Nope, it’s been reported by some people using the M0210 update, along with hey Google issues with the far field microphone, active contrast issues, and a couple other things. A factory reset, or a reapplication of m0210 manually via usb has been known to correct it a good amount of the time; however, since M0422 is coming out very soon it may be more appropriate to ask for that firmware for a side load (I have a video tutorial on the process).
My issue with M0210 has been with 120HZ PS5 Gaming in HDR. it is fine in HDR 60Hz. in 120hz, I see overexposed-washed out video in 120hz HDR which cannot be adjusted satisfactorily. I have turned off HDR on my PS5. Hisense/CA sent a link for L0721, which I may downgrade as I too use an AppleTV.
Someone else commented a potential solution for this by setting your color output setting from full/auto to limited. Give that a try and let me know what happens
So are these types of issues across the board or is it focused on this manufacturer? I just ordered a TV, knowing there is a update and tweaks I can make, but like is it worth it?
@@qwazyd0gg Thanks for the response, I feel confident in my purchase I guess I want some ammo for when friends and family scoff at my "off brand" purchase decision.
Thanks for the information here I will have to test the 12 bit option on Xbox...but I'm also experiencing the issue on PS5...when I activate hdr image gets really dull . I just bought the 65 U8g the us version...and so far I'm still not sure on this TV ...I like , specially the local dimming works wonderfully...but I'm experiencing the red ghosting while gaming , it is very noticeable in certain areas (noticed while playing tlou2 have not noticed in other games that much yet)...I tried the TCON update you mentioned other video but that made no difference...Im still not sure if that's a deal breaker or not ... Also need to test in more games....so yes so far a mixed bag here with my impressions on this TV ...
@@qwazyd0gg I did not try to change the frequency on Xbox. For ps5 I did try disabling auto latency and 60-120 Hz even switching HDMI ports to only 60hz and still experienced the issue...
Post update the blooming has become extremely noticeable, the different local dimming modes make very little difference. I also notice in test it is far worse in different parts of the screen, wish I could just roll back to pre-update. I am outside my return window (I've had it for 6 months now) otherwise I would love to get my money back. Also motion at 60fps seems jankey in test as well...sigh
@@qwazyd0gg Any other specific issues to look out for coming out of a factory reset...obviously I am assuming I will have to redo all my settings but besides that. Thanks!
Redoing the setting is really the only other thing. As far as possible issues, the wide spread ones I know about are all discussed in the video. I’m not certain of any other ones.
My 65 inch u78g keeps on instantly changing colors to green, red, blue etc while watching movie in netflix... I don't know how to fix it. Hope you can advice me what to do. Thanks
In built app or streaming device? If it’s in app, try a factory reset or even an alternate app. If it’s a streaming device, try the in built app. It could be transmission rates, faulty cabling, bad decoding, or a bad mainboard or panel. If it’s the TV itself then I would reach out for servicing for sure.
Hi. I have the M0210 software version. And I have a few issues like: when watching content on HDR the local dimming on high looks darker than medium or low. Other thing that I've noticed is that in some streaming apps like Crunchyroll it kinda has motion enhacement effect even if i have it turned off.
Are you watching crunchy roll via the TV application or an external player? Try both and see if the motion stays the same. Too find medium a little brighter, even on M0422, or at least a little less contrasty.
@@qwazyd0gg it seems that the motion happens only on the tv app. And about the local dimming, the High option looks the same as Off. The Low and the Medium are the ones that give brightness and contrast to my tv, this happens only on hdr
Hmmm, sounds similar to the issues people were having with LD on M0210; however, previous reports were that no settings looks difference, so it’s strange that 2 of your 4 do. Just for fun, toggle on then off Freesync and try again. I had one user fix it by doing that. As for the motion smoothing, I wonder if it’s not actually being toggled off within the app. Do you have an external device for testing such as a streaming or gaming device?
@@qwazyd0gg I turned on and off Free Sync and the issue with the local dimming persist. About the motion, seems like its only on the TV app, in my PS5 looks fine.
The motion thing has me stumped! I never use the in built apps since I run all my apps via my Apple TV 4K, so I’m really not sure what could cause that. I know I had a similar issue with my older TCL 4 Series where I couldn’t turn off motion enhancements via the in built apps and it drove me insane, so I bought a Fire Stick 4K so I had finer control of my settings via an HDMI source. Hopefully the next update brings you some solutions.
I’m encountering all these issues that you mentioned, but additionally local dimming is not working either, specifically in game mode, on both 60hz and 120hz. When checking the settings, local dimming is enabled. However setting it to to either low, medium or high has no effect. Prior to the update, black loading screens would appear pitch black in a dark room, but now they encounter a blooming with a slight greyish look. Wondering if anyone else has local dimming performance issues now too.
@@conradladouceur7557 I see, I don’t even have free sync on, and it doesn’t work. 55 inch U88G for reference. It’s like the active contrast situation. The tv says it’s a enabled, but it doesn’t do anything while gaming.
I have heard some reports of this; however, very few and mostly in Game Mode only. I would try either a factory reset or worst case the side load. Lemme know how you make out.
I just encountered this today on a u6g. In game mode, with local dimming set to high, the loading screens now look like local dimming is not working at all. I don’t know if the u6g even has/had this update. Something def changed in the last 48hrs.
Better than it was at release, but still some slight artifacting; however, nothing out of line from a VA panel and it still performs better than most others in similar pricing categories.
@@qwazyd0gg well I finally had Hisense support send me the file to side load and after following the instructions it's still the same. Oh well, here hoping a new update with a fix is in the works.
@@Etechtroniks I have it calibrated already. Content looks great when not playing Xbox HDR games. I can wait till an update fixes the issue. And just leave HDR off
Guys when the active contrast works and you see it take effect from off to high then we are good to go , I haven't seen any proof on M0210 with the active contrast working even after the fixes , Everthing else is manageable .Im on the old firmware and found out a simple solution to avoid the update from popping out everytime you turn tv on . I will make a video soon on my methods on my channel. thk QWAZYD0GG for the VID .

I'm having issues with a crackling sound then fades away then the sound comes back ? I have the UG7 using a Polk signa 2 through the arc port. Any suggestions Hisense is no help keep telling me they will contact me in 24 to 48 hours everytime I call nothing gets fixed.
I haven't heard anyone receiving it on this panel; however, given the U6 is only a 60hz panel and this update is targeting correction of 120hz based concerns, i'm not sure if it is slated to receive it.
With all the successes from the side load, my only thoughts are that when the software is applied fresh via usb it works almost all the time; however, there may be an overlay issue in the way the OTA installs over top of the previous public release
@@qwazyd0gg man where to start, HDR makes PS5 games horribly dark, like unplayable. I’ve tried every setting on my PS5 and Hisense and nothing resolves the issue. Also, trying to get ps5 to run at 120ghz is a joke…after watching some RU-vid tutorials and reading some Reddit threads I got it to work for about five minutes then after every time I try to launch a game it goes to an error screen and says there’s no connection. I’ve tried everything and just gave up and turned HDR off and I still can’t get the picture to my likings…it’s acceptable but not great. Additionally there’s issues with watching movies and using apps….sometimes while using Netflix the audio doesn’t match the video so there lips are moving but speech isn’t synchronized and finally sometimes there’s this odd delay occasionally and you can noticeably see the frames drag. If I restart the app it fixes the audio problem but not the frame drag. Other than that it’s great 😂 I will never buy a Hisense again and I would advise everyone else to not buy this brand. Next time I’ll just spend the extra 400-500 bucks and get a Samsung…lesson learned.
That’s rough man! Thankfully it doesn’t seem that those issues are wide spread, or at least not within this viewership community. Best of luck with your next purchase.
