The reason why PS and PS2 controllers aren't here is because they are pretty much the same as the PS3 However, we could have seen the very first PS controller (the one without the dual analog sticks)

Some clarifications here: * The PlayStation DualShock hasn't changed design till the PS4, so it is not worth to mentiom the same controller design 3 times * If a revision to this gets released, The Xbox Series S/X controller will be shown and not the Xbox One, because they're almost identical Not gonna lie, would like to see the Pro Controllers (Wii, Wii U and Switch)

Believe it or not, but the GameCube originated the joystick layout that Microsoft would copy for the Xbox controller. Of course this is strictly by the fact that GameCube came out before Xbox.

Most controllers before the NES weren't even controllers, they were remotes with joysticks on them or just really big buttons. For the first company to ever make a proper controller, they had a lot of say in the layout for newer consoles to come, but Sony took the spot for inventing the shape of what would become the traditional controller. The PS1 Controller's silhouette resembles that of newer consoles for newer generations. It's also what people first think about when they hear the word "Controller", and takes the spot for what a Controller emoji looks like. 🎮 But these emoji designers didn't forget their research, making sure to include the classic ATARI 2600 joystick Controller. 🕹
Idk about that "what people first think about when they hear the word "Controller"" part. I usually think of something more along the lines of the 360's controllers, or even the gamecube. Sony themselves are even switching to that xbox sort of shape now so even if I'm in the minority here I doubt it'll be too long before that's the sort of controller everyone thinks about.
