History of the Fatui Harbingers [Genshin Impact Lore Analysis and Speculation]

Something about Childe just openly telling us about all of his fellow hargingers is just too funny.

This is just an speculation, but I think Arleccino must be an orphan herself if she must have created an orphanage. Loss of parents or friends at young age, despite her snarking attitude she could have been a caring paternal figure.

People were joking about Pantalone being Dark-mode Baizhu, but I have been wondering if they may actually be brothers. I know there is a theory that Pantalone is from Liyue and their visual similarities are astounding. And if Baizhu turned out to be his sickly brother who received a Vision, I could see that adding fuel to Pantalone’s anger at the Divine. Of course, we need more information to confirm or deny that, but I think it would be an interesting theory to keep in mind for when we get more information on the Regrator.

The whole thing with Dottore and his segments is so freaky to me, so much so that I can't help but imagine a 8 year old Dottore tricking the traveler by pretending to be a random kid and then back stabbing them.

My favorite so far is Columbina and Pucinella. They aren't looking obvious in terms of personality and looks, but they are hiding something behind their demeanor. They get the "Once you see me Smile. You are already in my Grasp." kind with Columbina. Pucinella, while cruel, has like Standard and may be swayed by the Traveler's Exploits. Plus a Mayor? That is gonna be very interesting.

AS far as this video goes, I think there are 3 main divisions in the fatui harbingers. 1. Political division - Pierro, of course, being their leader and a very close relationship with the Tsaritsa - Pulcinella, uhm, he's called the Mayor - Pantalone, about money, economics, and relational sways - Signora, she's a Szechnayan Diplomat 2. Experimentation/Science Division - Dottore, the Doctor - Sandrone, all about machines - Scaramouche, being someone whose powers were presumably unlocked by Dottore, it makes sense that he would work on the same division. It seems that he collects intel, just like in ver1.1 event. He an intel-gatherer for the science division 3. Military - Capitano, maybe in charge of a military unit? - Tartaglia, he loves battle sooo... - Columbina, probably the Harbinger's secret ace. Also, she can be a military tactician because you said she is supposedly the smartest in the Comedia - Arlecchino, as fucked up as it is, she runs the orphanage that houses the orphans that will serve the military

Childe's line about the Dottore raised a very disturbing implication: Who to say that Dottore haven't cloned other Harbingers beside himself. This is going to be "Shadowed amidst Mountains" all over again.

I wonder how Dain thinks of Pierro and vice versa. Given that they were both top ranking people in khaenri'ah society (albeit Pierro was not on the level of the sages), they likely were aware of each other's existence at the very least. It will be interesting to see how and why they ended up on such different paths as well.

I find it interesting, Ninguang and Panatlone, have a surprsing amount of parellels, ie; both were in proverty, one got a vision, the other didn't 👀

I have a feeling, the true Sandrone is hiding inside that ruin guard and the girl outside is also just a puppet.

I think Columbina powers are in her voice, is kinda hypnotic when she sing during that teaser, I wouldn’t be surprised she was some kinda of fallen Angel with a voice that would drive people to madness, for her being 3rd in power I expect her to be almost untouchable, I think she will be a ameno catalyst if playable.

I love how columbina is the "I'm a fairy but I can murder dragons" type of character. She seems terrifyingly innocent but hides an insane amount of power

Hear me out I think we will see Scaramouche again in Sumeru. As Dottore stated he requires more knowledge to unlock the powers of the Gnosis in his possession. Where else is the best place for knowledge than the land of wisdom. Which is where we will come into conflict with him resulting in Dottore to snatch the Gnosis

A detail about Sandrone: on the commedia del'arte, Sandrone represents 3 people: Sandrone, Pullonia (his wife) and his kid, from that, i think that Sandrone is actually the ruin guard, with Pullonia being the girl sitting o his hand.

Pantalone strikes me as the type of person who appears charming and kind on the surface level but will then turn around and slit your throat if it benefits him. I don't think Arlechino's orphanage is a product of her "kindness" especially after what Childe had to say about her. It sounds like the orphanage is more of a child soldier type operation. I find Dottore to be the scariest one. Based on what I've heard about him from other videos and the Manga he seems to completely lack humanity/compassion. And the fact that there are multiple versions of him running around makes him near impossible to beat. Pulchinella is definitely not kind to Childe and his family out of the kindness of his heart. He seems to have alterior motives. I love capitano's design. He strikes me as the obedient soldier who follows orders to a T. Pierro is 100% from Khanria. I wonder if he has ties to Kaeya and Dain. Colombina kinda gives me the same vibes as Pantalone. Charming on the outside but secretly a snake. Sandrone I wasn't particularly interested in her in the trailer but she seems like the sadistic type. I have a soft spot for Childe and I find his backstory fascinating. I've always liked the battle hungry type of characters and he offers a sort of contrast to the other harbingers. Even it the trailer the color and style of his outfit seemed to contrast everyone else. Scaramouch is pretty ballsy to steal the gnosis from the tsaritsa. I wish we could've seen him is his harbinger getup like childe. Definitely think Signora is dead dead. (Please ignore my terrible spelling of their names lol)

My theory is, since Pantalone never goes outside of Sneznaya (he's working at Northland Bank), Pierro is Tsaritsa's right-hand man (The Jester), and Pulcinella is the one who will take the throne (I expect a betrayal, since in the trailer he's shown sitting on the throne) we will fight them in Sneznaya, Sandrone looks like we're gonna fight her in Fontaine judging from her and her robot/ruin guard's outfits. We will probably meet or fight Il Dotorre or probably and Scaramouche in Sumeru, which has been revealed by the trailer. We will fight Arlecchino or Capitano in Natlan probably. I honestly don't know when will we fight the Damsette. I don't know how mihoyo can fit those harbingers into the last 4 regions. They were all just a theory. Note patch 3.1 : My theory was correct, we're gonna fight and meet Scaramouche and Dottorre in Sumeru

Childe: (About Sandrone) "I have no idea what I possibly could have done to annoy her, though." My headcanon is that he at one point asked her to let Teucer play with her very advanced Mr. Cyclops. Or that she's salty about him taking the title of "Greatest Toy Salesman in Snezhnaya" for himself. skskskskskskks

I don't know why, but I have the feeling that at some point the harbingers are gonna turn against the tsaritsa, Or at least some of them... being that she changes his mind about the "methods" (maybe influenced by the traveler) or that after defeating Celestia or something like that they go against her to have absolute control (Childe would try to defend her for what we know, would have his opportunity to fight them but ultimately fail) and, if she does die in the hands of the harbingers, it would be an ironic but fitting death to the archon of "love".

Come to think of it, Ajax/Tartaglia always gives his foes a fair chance when fighting directly, he normally uses a bow which is his worst weapon of choice until he gets serious and changes to his water blades and spear (which he materialices out of water instead of carrying them on him, and are on a timer on normal circumstances), until the fight picks up and unleashed his electro delusion, and finally uses the full extent of his Fowl Legacy when fighting a worthy opponent (the traveler and the army of ruin guards from his story quest being some examples).

I think the tsaritsa is acting as if shes just a normal archon just doing her archon duty and not get involved and appear on fatui agenda to not get sussed by celestia. She letting the harbingers do the work for her. I just think because if she sus and doing dirty work shed be poofed right away with a nail.

The thing is that Signora got clapped by the Traveler and then later on it’s implied that Childe maybe little bit stronger than the Traveler. Also why would the weakest harbinger be called a weapon of war. This maybe another case of perspectives and facts where Childe is telling us his point of view when it comes to the numbers on the Fatui.

When we first fought Childe I thought he will atleast be top 5 of the most dangerous Harbingers but when I saw them he's the most normal Human being in this room

I think that when Dotorre talks about Scaramouche conquering the divine gaze he is referring to Scaramouche obtaining a vision and learning how to use it. I say this because the only other time I remember hearing the phrase “divine gaze” was after we defeat the Raiden Shogun and Yae Miko says “[the people] want your attention… your divine gaze” and then Ei responds with “you mean visions?”

The ranked by strengh part is a mistranslation. They are ranked by a combination of accomplishments, political influence and combat strengh. Different kinds of "power"

My speculation of Pierro saying that Signora's final resting place will be entirety of the old world... is that his intentions are to bring massive change to the world, and the old world will be destroyed... the old world where dear Rosalyne perished, her final resting place... that of the past. His promise to Rosalyne is to accomplish their mission without her, and he will strive to make them happen even if he now has to do it in her absence. Very poetic, but I feel that's what he meant. On the Pantalone part, watch Pantalone not have a vision but has super natural strength or can manipulate one or many elements without a vision... it would be a pretty good twist... or just uses a delusion instead, and that's good enough for him. Remember that people like Shenhe have super human strength, which may or may not have to do at all with her vision. There's also La Signora, the Crimson Witch of Flame, which her Crimson Witch pyro power, as far as I'm aware... does not come from harnessing a vision, but that she can naturally manipulate/produce Pyro elemental energy without a vision. Just like there's creatures that produce elemental energy like Slimes, who is to say that Humans/Humanoids can't produce without elemental energy without a vision. The game has given us examples of multiple unique existences... why not more? Lesser spirits and gods, besides Archons... not all of them use visions either.

I feel like The Marionette will have 3 puppets, Sandrone (Husband), Pulonia (Wife), and Sgorghiguelo (Son) based on the casts of Commedia.

I was already excited for the dapper as heck ruin guard, but the Gothic Victorian dress just makes Sandrone even better in my eyes. I don't care which is actually the puppet; I'd love them either way, or even if they're both puppets of someone somewhere else. (Though you could argue that one's body is already effectively a puppet of their mind/brain(/soul if you believe in one).)

I wonder if Dottore and Albedo are supposed to be counterparts to each other. Dottore's design in that video has similarities with Albedo's design (although they're more general similarities) and they're both scientists who experiment with life and its creation.

I find it super interesting that the Fatui symbol is the same symbol you see in the Theatre of Domination in Honkai Impact, as well as the symbol on Capitano’s helmet being present on the body of the Herrscher of Dominance.

i have an idea that the reason sandrone/marionette hates childe is bc she sees no reason for him to be a harbinger. between all the harbingers, he brings the least to the table. He’s just a kid from snezhnaya who mistakenly stumbled upon abyssal power and is good at beating things up. maybe sandrone wants him out and doesn’t believe he deserves the spot, even if he is the bottom rank.

The Capitano’s mask reminds me of the Nazgûl King from LOTR. The hollow helmet really pulls it together

I love all of the speculation about the harbingers since this trailer drop came out of absolutely no where. Im glad they gave us a visual of all of the harbingers as well so we can have a visual of the force we are fighting against. Now it's not some esoteric sense of what we are fighting against or beside by the end.

I actually think that the fatui are not ranked by strength in battle or physical strength, more like usefulness, influence, reliability and the power to manipulate others, that's why pantalone that doesn't have a vision is ranked higher than tartaglia, because he contributes more to the fatui than Childe who only brings to the table his fighting skills, I still believe that the top 3 (pierro, Capitano and columbina I think) are the strongest in battle and the most useful as well, but the others strength comes from what they bring to the table to the fatui.

I think pulcinella promising Tartaglia to take care of his family is kinda like the way in Heizou's story quest where the man ( whom Ryuuji thought of as a father) went to the researchers house to give his pregnant wife vitamins

I suspected that the reason why Sandrome, the Marionette is so angry at Childe was because in Childe's story quest, with teucer, he destroyed the many ruin guards in the factory Dottorre threw away. Maybe the factory now belonged to her considering she's seems like to mess around with machines and she pissed off that Childe basically trashed all of them. The theory is backed up with the idea that why would a abandoned factory still function properly for so long and is producing ruins guards.

What if the manga dottore is actually a sagment. Would make sanse dottore would send a clone instead of himself to a meeting with an enemy of the fatui (diluc)

In theater we studied the play and characters the harbingers are based off of! We practiced their walks, made replica masks, etc! And it was so so much fun, one of the lessons that really stuck with me. I still have my mask hanging up in my house. So learning that the harbingers are based off of those very characters is such a pleasant surprise!

The damsalette kind of creeps me out tbh. But out of all the harbingers, I want her to be playable the most. Childe says she is apparently really strong (even though he doesn't know why she is place so high among the 11 harbingers), and for some reason, I can see her having a really interesting kit. She interests me the most out of all the harbingers.

I'm not sure if you get to this in the video or not, but Tartaglia has new voicelines now, one for each Harbinger. And we find out that Columbina is actually number 3! Edit: I watched the video and you definitely found the voicelines. I can't wait to see how things go with the Harbingers!

I've theorized with my friend about how the potential alliance with the Fatui may come in the future when we we start facing against both Celestia and the Abyss Order. But with this I think the most playable ones in the fatui will be Columbina, Sandrone, Capitano, And Arlecchino. And while they're is some bias in there I don't want Columbina to die because if she does have some relation to Celestia her knowledge about them will be Invauleable in the years to come. Sandrone has been rumored to have a very Yandere personality so it could be that she might be impressed with our strength and wish to make us one of her "Puppets". Capitano seems to be a man of integrity and honor but still determined to finish what she started, that said I can see us fighting him and earning his respect through our strength. Arlecchino is most likely the best candidate for playability as I don't think she is inherently evil, in fact I believe her to be the most sympathetic as she may hold the orphens dear to her and owes her loyalty to the children who need a protector not the Tsaritsa though I can still her holding a grude on us playing a part in La Singora's death but again there is still hope.

Arlecchino is so hot! The "Kyah~!" bugcat emote definitely tells how I felt when I saw her Why do evil villainesses have to be this hot!?

Dottore uses clones/androids, in the manga it was a clone called “prime dottore” i wonder if the marionette makes them for him

Damn I had a bit of a brain fart regarding Columbina. Setting the obvious aside: 1. She's named after the lore behind the Columbina constellation - the dove that was sent out to search for life after the Great Flood (Noah's Ark/Teyvat Noah). 2. In Commedia Dell'arte, Columbina is known to be the only functioning intellectual on stage. I think that she is not only smart, but she knows something/is capable of something that others are not (which is why even Tartaglia fears her). 3. The seraphim symbolism + the red/pink streaks she has might allude to her being a pyro user. 4. It is said that a Seraph guards the gates to the Garden of Eden. Given that she was the one having the dialogue with Dottore at the final scene with the burning tree... could it be that there is a version of the Garden of Eden somewhere in Teyvat? Could it have ties to Sumeru? Was the tree that burned in that scene the Tree of Knowledge within the Garden of Eden? 5. This is a stretch (connecting points 1,2, and 4), but I wonder if she could be tied to OG Celestia by any chance... or maybe some fragment of power that's from the ancient civilization.

why no one mentions about tartaglia saying that he is ranked too low in fatui harbinger thus capitano does not recognise him? Because i feel like based on what childe just said, capitano might be a high rank fatui harbinger. Since we does not know his actual rank yet, i think childe voicelines explain that he is quite high in ranking. What do u guys think about this? (And yes he immediately become my favourite harbinger just because of his aesthetic alone)

This raised some amazing questions for my own theory. My theory was/is that the fatui and abyss are working together but even the harbingers aren’t aware of it. I’ve gone into a lot of detail with this theory but this video raised a lot of questions for it so now I’m gonna need to think a bit deeper and wait for more lore to be able to see if my theory has any merit.

If sandrone does not shout "Bob, do something!" when we finaly fight her, then I will uninstall genshin and overwatch.

I think Capitanos hidden face is a ref to Honkai. In honkai, the player is known as the Captain. Basically, yes, it was a self insert that isnt really part of the story. But I would think thats why Capitano dont show his face.

The Teyvat Chapter Interlude Teaser is so good that I kinda want miHoYo to follow some of future their interlude teasers in a similar direction for the Abyss Order or other major villainous factions for their upcoming games after a big event and plot point in the story revealing the rest of the leadership of the organization and teasing the next chapter. I give props to the marketing team.

In regards to where you have seen Capitano before, he looks eerily similar to the actual fatui grunts. They have similar faceless masks, and the tall fatui guys have a very similar build.

liyue has tartaglia inazuma has signora sumeru would have scaramouche and dottore fontaine would have sandrone natlan would have capitano snezhnaya would have pulcinella, pierro, columbina and the tsaritsa herself i wonder where would we fight pantalone and arlecchino? so far, both liyue and inazuma had the harbingers as weekly bosses. if leaks are concerned, it is confirmed scaramouche would have his own boss battle before being playable but does it mean we'd fight dottore in sumeru already? are all the harbingers going to be weekly bosses before being playable (childe) or just npcs with drip (signora)? pulcinella and pantalone seems like they don't fight at all, i wanna stomp on pulcinella so bad already 😩 also if you're into *leaks*, a lot of them had been confirmed playable already by trusted leakers. so far only pulcinella, pierro and ashes signora are not confirmed with capitano highly likely to be playable. Just my theory but I think Tsaritsa is aware to the evil deeds of Fatui. This is her line in Shivada Jade gemstone: "Sorry... to also have you shoulder the grievances of the world. "Since you could endure my bitter cold, you must have the desire to burn? "Then, burn away the old world for me." Maybe aside from destroying Celestia they also plan to destroy Teyvalt.

I'm surprised Childe's father is very supportive to his son. Even to gave him away to Fatui. I guess Fatui in Scheznaya is not as antagonistic like in other nations

Something I noticed: The description of shivada jade gemstone has the "old world" described by pierro in the teaser.

At first, I had always thought that Childe's Foul Legacy was part of his Dilusion and was surprised to found out that it wasn’t the case, thanks to this video. This makes me wonder if *THATS* the full potential of a vision. As a lot of people know, Visions are signs that a person has met a criteria that a Archon values and has the possibility of ascending to Celestia to become a god. An good exemple of this is Vanessa, who is know to be one of the few people who’ve been able to ascend to Celestia. Since Childe was train in the Abyss by Skirk for 3 months, it made sense that the Abyss affected him and his vision later on, which brings out another possibility. The Nation that was destroyed 500 years ago was strong enough to have killed Makoto, who was the previous Electro Archon at the time and I wouldn’t doubt that the Abyss would be able to temper with a Vision made by Celestia (it would be child’s play to them, no pun attended). Plus, the Fatui have Pierro, who we can probably all agree that he’s from Khaenri'ah. Since he’s from there, he could potentially have felt that Child had been in the Abyss for some time. He also could have help him somewhat master that abyssal energy in some degree that make him unlock the Foul Legacy form. Tartaglia is always seen as a meme and as the Edd Sheran lookalike in the Genshin Impact Fandom. But this information makes him even more interesting and mysterious in my opinion. We may think we know everything about him, but we could also be completely wrong about that.

Neat thing about Pantalone’s attept at monopolizing monsdat’s wine? Diluc has beef with the harbengers. He fought one, that had the home field advantage, without his vision, and lived Granted, someone else intervened, but the fatui are out for diluc

A note that I have seldom seen made, is that in Revelations when Judgement Day is night, the Beast calls 11 Kings to fight at his banner in Armaggedon, each crown corresponding to one of his horns. Perhaps this is referenced more, even if it is the final fate of their rebellion, since, despite basically winning on Earth, Lucifer still loses. That or perhaps the Harbinger titles reflect some aspect of the Tsaritsa herself

There is a lot this teaser wants to give us but it’ll mostly make sense in game setting

One thing that caught my attention about Pierro is his design similarities to dainslief, specifically with that mask. It might just be because they're both from khaenri'ah, but I'm not convinced that there isn't more to it then that.

Capitano design seems oddly similar to the bloodstained knight if you ask me. I read someone theorize that they are the same person, and... it really makes sense.

So when getting a character they need a redemption of some kind so they can be playable and just thought that if dottore were to become playable, I believe his redemption is that the dottore who did the experiments on collei is one of his clones thus giving him sort of a reason why he can be friends with the traveler. It would also explain why the og dottore would ever have a vision while the manga dottore has no vision. Sort of like how albedo can do geo while susbedo can do cryo. Just a theory or idea for a reasoning to play dottore ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I wonder if the Tsaritsa is actually alive. What if she gave the Harbingers their mission and then died? Or Celestia already killed her and the Harbingers want to challenge Celestia to bring her back? That would explain why she isn't at the funeral. She could have another coffin covered in ice like Signora.

Signora being encased in ice is just so obvious that she'll be reborn once again, even in her boss fight she encases herself in a cacoon before revealing her true form after being defeated in the first phase. I think we'll forget about Signora until we get to Snezhnaya and then we'll see her again, kinda like Annie in AoT
