The question that I'm asking is tho, will we be able to play Hitman 1 and 2 maps in Hitman 3 considering it's purchased from Epic Games, therefore we don't own the Hitman 1 and Hitman 2 in Epic Games Launcher Some people said it's ran on it's own Online Services but I'm still kinda worried
@@BlackTadashi to be honest with you, personally for me I don't care if I have to restart. I have had the best memories all the way back in 2016 when HITMAN came out also with HITMAN 2 in 2018 so for me it will be just fine
Hitman 2 is my preferred look among all the games as well. At least the changes are quite subtle this time around, though sadly he did lose a bit of his signature cheekbones.
I absolutely love the fact that if you own the previous games you can play all those levels on the newest. It really saves the time of having all three games installed
@M King I believe they call it something like Season packs on the store. So you wouldn’t have to purchase the whole hitman 1 and 2 games but just the levels in them to play on Hitman 3
@@huhhuh364 they didn't downgrade his face, they just made it look more realistic. He was way to detailed before which was great cus it had a lot of details but wasn't very realistic.
He looks more human to me TBH. Though I liked the animated/robotic look he had before. Really cemented the idea that he wasn't just a normal human being.
Having actually seen a small oil fire, it went from looking like a game to a real fire, all that's missing is a bunch more dark smoke. Even the explosion has way more improvements than just a "bright flashing bloom effect". The shockwave is better, there is shrapnel now, and it doesn't just magically catch on fire, it actually explodes.
Minus agent 47's face I feel like the hitman series is highly underated in the graphics department, some of the most beautiful environments in gaming have come from these semi remakes and I feel like nobody really talks about them that much
@@thejanrodrigo thats true i think they look a lot more imersive because of that a lot of parts of the game could look a little flat because of that i mean those shots of paris look really good on hitman 3
@@kwabecikuwu9161 Nick says in the video it isn't the final release of the game. Which in any case means there is no guarantee that what you see in the video will be an accurate representation of the final game.
Yeah, I think that they should have kept his Hitman 2 face model but changed his suit, since I did play both Hitman 2016-18 I didn't like Hitman 2's changed suit model but his face was fine.
I think it was the best face to match the stern, wiser voice. Also the lack of detail/aging to his head makes it too shiny with the updated lighting. You’ll go blind within the first hour lol
As CG artist I can see why. Hitman 2 face is far more stylized. They toned down the secondary features much like real faces look like. It's simply realism over the style kind of thing. Or maybe they used a scan of a real face and then adjusted the features just to make it look more like 47.
The reason why it looks so unrealistic btw is beacause the real time renderers simply cannot calculate the light reasonably well enough for a model like that to look good enough.I am sure that the original sculp of his face looks just splendid and way better than the stylized one from hitman 2.
can we just appreciate that graphics have come so far that we can compare the detail and coloration of a character model's *iris*??? that's insane to me
@@Nick930 i cant wait for physics simulations to get more robust in game engines. i think that's only a few years off and boy i tell ya, that's when it'll really get interesting
@@lordpoob I'd like to see AI mechanics improve. They were making real progress with FEAR and Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory.. then developers just turned their focus away to make big open worlds instead. Alien Isolation is the last game I recall having a really great Artificial intelligence. The Last of Us 1+2 is pretty solid too
@@Nick930 i absolutely agree. AI is way overdue for an upgrade. and tons of franchises would benefit from it, like assassins creed and hitman, and even more linear games like CoD and the battlefield games. unfortunately, most AAA studios/publishers care too much about money to put that much effort into something that can be done cheaper and easier, and most indie studios lack the money, time, and/or experience to do that
@@ariesradke6193 no that's not what I mean, my apologise I just think in my opinion his faces have gone from middle aged to young to chubby face and I was thinking if Io put in the option to change faces from all 3 games
@@zombiearmyfan9316 don’t worry i understand what you mean mr serious above doesn’t have reading skills apparently, it’s as if 47 is Benjamin button lol
Isn't 47 basically ageless, I mean, he's a genetically altered/enhanced human so him looking young might not be much of a problem lore wise if I'm not mistaken.
They did find the perfect face in Hitman 2. This is face change isn’t anywhere near as bad as it could be, and it not even 1 percent as bad as when this has happened in other games like spiderman, but it’s a really noticeable downgrade and was definitely a terrible decision by the design team
@@deskruxtion1 It's on the Hitman 3 Epic Games store page. You've got 10 days from release to get H1 free and then I think until Feb. 3 to get H2 for $8
12:40 There are slight differences on the pistol animations. It appears that the devs have lessen the recoil on them; the shotgun has a cocking sound now, and Agent 47 holds the carbine by the handguard instead of the magwell.
@@Jun-Kyard Games are not about being realistic, it's about delivering on a fantasy. It doesn't matter if someone with this look could technically be a murderer, but rather that the players will always have certain preconceptions of how this ruthless assassin should look, and playing into that helps deliver on the games fantasy. This new face looks goofy, but not so much that it feels intentional (unlike things like the flamingo suit) and as a result it contrast really awkwardly with the rest of the game. I really hope they revert it.
I like how they let you play through the old missions with new updated graphics and mechanics. It'll also be interesting to see the difference between this early version you got and the full version of the game
Cyberpunk never said that about their npc's. That's an over-expectation that was spread around the community for some reason, like alot of other things about that game.
@@1Chasg no. They said in a trailer that every npc will have a routine that you can follow and watch and that was a lie. Beatemups has a long video addressing a lot of lies.
@@1Chasg what the literal fucking announcment trailer, I dont remember exactly but they say something along the Lines of revolutionizing ai to make the most immersive npcs yet
Looks like the skin change is largely due to sub surface scattering, which makes the skin react with the lighting. So, you are correct to say it has to do with the lighting, but it also has to do with the skin texture.
Andy Ivan I would say they should have added maybe one or two more detail layers over top just to bring that gritty look back. However SSS is really impressive tech.
The Textures on all NPC's and Agent 47 look like they are more blurry. That might be why Agent 47 looks younger, cause there is less interaction with the texture normals to make the shadowing of the textures stand out.
I think he looks fine if we consider that he's impersonated an actual model in the past. It didn't make much sense before, but this guy could definitely pass as a model.
Strange for him to look human? You must have never played the older titles before. He had a quite awsome personality since the first game until Hitman 2016
they should make an option to change the 47 model you play as in the settings, it would be a cool addition since it's the end of the trilogy and for people who prefer one of the older models, I'm sure they have them in a file somewhere
I think the younger Hitman look in 3 fits more with the perfected engineered human he is meant to be, It doesn't really make sense to have a prefect mental and physical condition among other abilities but look like + 45 years old.
Everything is way better apart from the shadows in the grass and some lighting issues and once the slight downgrade of hitman. Genuinely VERY impressed IOI I also love that the shotguns pumps now. Sounds good
@@ANWRocketMan sounds impossible lmao. How do you know what you can use and what you cant? They seem like objectives to me, more than try anything and watch physics unfold
@@ActNasty5 There are a lot of random stuff you can do. Besides, there are still interaction prompts, and many of the "Stories" are easy to follow without map guidance. I agree I would have a preferred a more dynamic environment, but Master with little/no UI ads in quite a bit of challenge. The normal modes are too easy for me to continuosly pay attention.
Same ahahah When hitman 2 came out I Fully mastered and Slient assassins suit only every Level of hitman 1 and 2 Except Mumbai Fuck Mumbai it’s the shittiest map of the trilogy
Let's face it. 3 looks practically identical to 2 (and 2016) and all these barely noticeable minor adjustments in graphics are meaningless. 2 and 3 are pretty much just extensions of 2016. Pretty cool developments overall from the older games, but I also can't shake the vibe that Hitman games have gone from dark, gritty strategy and puzzle solving assassination games to wacky cosplay Hollywood fantasy games that hold your hand throughout. Even down to Diana constantly in your ear and telling you "good job 47!" "47...this is happening" "47...you might want to check this area out" "Here's how to solve this puzzle 47..." "47...47...47..." Man does it get annoying. The old games you felt on your own, you had to think entirely for yourself and many parts were downright terrifying to play, especially in Codename 47 actually. Also, killing people wasn't made so blatantly amusing and light-hearted. They really need to bring back that dark, scary, loner vibe to Hitman games. Sure, Diana would give you briefs for new contracts, but she wasn't f-ing babysitting you the entire mission. You were on your own, now it feels like a weird buddy-buddy cosplay adventure full of amusing novelty deaths.
7:20 thats done for optimization. Because developers place foliage just about everywhere, it makes a big hit to the perfomance, while the mesh itself is small. Thats why developers turn off shadows for foliage.
For what it's worth, I don't think 47's head texture has diminished in quality - rather, it appears his skin is using subsurface scattering, which allows light to pass through the surface and has the effect of softening the appearance of super fine details. Technically this would be a visual upgrade, but the effect might be a bit too prominent and is resulting in a more waxy/soft appearance.
@@Seshking69 cause in 1 and 2 there are 6 maps each, and in hitman 3 6 more. If you had to launch the other games as soon as you want to try out the othere it would be very frustrating, so instead you can play them directly from Hitman 3 (if you own hitman 1 and 2 which are currently on sale *wink wink*). The progress you had in Hitman 2 transfers to Hitman 3 if you want
This shows how much we "need" raytracing... Don´t get me wrong, it is the way forward, but right now the performance hit is just ridiculous. I much prefer good SSR right now.
Raytracing is much more than just reflection. For example refraction and indirect lighting, but also area lights are things which raytracing enables or heavily improves. Currently light sources are always point based. In addition to that raytracing has the potential to produce much more realistic particle effects and interactions of the particles and the light. And when using current tech some shadows are not visible, which makes objects look as if they're separate from the background. Especially in places which are in shady areas the shading becomes much more realistic. And something which the player might not notice is that also the development process gets simplified. Currently developers need to fine tune lighting in many cases and often need to add faked shadows, but with raytracing this isn't required anymore. At least not to this extent.
@@knowingbadger When it's fully utilized it imo is worth it. Take a look at Cyberpunk. The game is mediocre, but the raytracing is really well implemented and it makes a huge difference. And I see no reason for not utilizing raytracing options nowadays.
@@ThePandafriend It makes a huge difference on shadows in Cyberpunk. Lighting is improved but the baked lighting already looks really good. There's different types of rtx and so far no games have utilized them all at once. Like rtx audio is a thing but I haven't heard it done yet and I think that one is definitely a must have for immersion
Ray traced reflections are the most basic implementation of all types of ray tracing. Shadows and global illumination are what I'm hoping we'll see some console games be able to do in the future. Sadly, it's not looking good as game as after game is just reflections.
In short: some textures are a bit more blurry and less sharp in 3, the only improvement being in lightning and reflection over his predecessor so essentially you are really only buying new levels
He looks fine. People look younger than what our brains expect them to be. My mom is almost 50 and she looks like she's in her mid-30s, and so do most of her friends. We can't tell the difference between a person in their late 20s and and others in their early to mid-30s. If you consider that fact, it makes this guy look more realistic. If he's in his late 40s/early 50s, he should look around 30 at first glance and only when you look at the details you'd see the little wrinkles and fine lines that would tell you he's older, just like in Hitman 3.
Great comparison. Hitman 3 was the second game I played and beat twice during the lockdown. Hitman was another series I've been playing and following the story for almost 20 years and I wanted to see how it ended.
I love how hitman has been combining games with their sequels. I think more games sould take this lession. Ive allways wanted to see games absorb the previous games into it for many series. I think it should be the way of the future.
This was really informative. I might just load up hitman 2 and complete some expansion maps rather than wait for Hitman 3 to support importing them for free. HM3 doesnt look that much different.
I think the “biggest” issue for me is his new face, but that’s not even that big of an issue. The sound is pretty much just about better, however I did notice the car does not flip when it’s shot in Miami in Hitman 3 - it just spins. This is something I hope isn’t a recurring theme - that they’re downgrading the kills when this is supposed to be the big climax and should have the biggest most out there ways to assassinate targets.
@Pavel Sushko I guess it is more realistic but I’m willing to suspend my disbelief enough for the flip and big explosions because they’re not too far fetched and it is a game where bigger visuals look amazing. So to me it seems like a small downgrade and kind of a waste with the new graphics🤷🏽♂️
I think good implementation of SSR is almost as good as ray tracing and like half the cost on the gpu. This game really shows that too cause I honestly mistaked it for ray tracing at first.
It just shows us that we have really evolved to register faces. I think the changes to the face is just due to the lighting changes. They will probably (hopefully) adjust this in the final version. I prefer the grungier and rougher agent 47.
Agent 47 looked really good and realistic in Hitman 2, but in 3 he looks somehow not only completely different, but also way more like an animated character... Sad that they changed it like that, he looked so bloody handsome before
The lack of the face detail is from the accentuated sss(subsurface) effect, which covers the normal map and the roughness of the skin shader for the face, making the diffuse map more predominant and give it a more waxy look; but the details are there nonetheless, but more subtle; good video, cheers!
47 looks a lot more like his child self from 2's picture cutscenes Also, how is it that in 2021 there's no option to turn down Bloom... go to the stoner's house in Sapienza, look at the window and tell me how that doesn't make you want Bloom off
And the crazy thing was that they managed to do it without excessive crunch, which is standard in many other game companies. It's actually crazy that they managed to put together a game better than 2016 with half the staff.
When they add new tech, they should really go back and modify old levels, to make use of it, to add more options and choices. Will we ever get metal detectors back?
The worst part about every new Hitman game is that you have to restart your mastery for each of the older levels. You should be able to keep the mastery (weapons, gadgets,) that you’ve already grinded to unlock in the previous games. It’s gonna be even worse with Hitman III, now that we have to replay all the missions of the 2 previous games. Meaning if you wanted to unlock everything in Hitman III, you would have to play 3 games worth of content to do so. As much as its fun to go through older missions, it’s tedious to have to repeat the same challenges over and over so you can unlock that one gadget or weapon you want to use.
I'm liking the new gun animations how it doesn't flip up whenever you fire and that 47 is far more accurate with the pistols, holds the rifle with a forward grip and while I also appreciate you can hear the cycling on the pump action, I wish the sound wasn't soo generic.
Nice, he's less tacticool while holding a rifle now, that always bugged me a bit. Pistols have less recoil but I still think the gunplay looks off, maybe they'll improve the animations even further. The way he holds a shotgun looks odd.
