I like how this was edited. Just enough footage of each step to get the message across with summery information in between steps. Flowed very nicely. I especially liked the thrown together weld edit. Fun way to show parts joining together.

I'm pretty sure the reason you didn't get much out of the torsion spring is because it wasn't preloaded. The same way a tension spring has a linear correlation between the amount it's been stretched and the force it applies, a torsion spring applies force relative to how many turns it's done. Just for easy math, if the garage spring is 10 pounds per rotation If you start from 0 twist, one rotation cocking back the arm only gets you 10 pounds of peak force. If you wound it up 10 rotations to "Resting" and then another rotation to cock the arm, you'd be at 110lbs. The half vacuum half pneumatic cylinder idea was quite cool too. You could also run the math to find the optimum pulley diameter (the axle in your case) to get the highest impact speed. Like with the gearing in a car, a higher gear ratio (smaller gear on the output) makes you go faster, but your acceleration is hindered. There's likely a break even point in your mechanism where a slightly bigger pulley would've gotten the bat moving faster in the limited stroke you had (1 revolution). Again, clearly not necessary to have met your goal.

Garage door torsion bar likely would have helped but you would needed to twist it to add a load on it before clamping it to the pipe, but that would have made it much harder to reset the bat each time.

Hi Tyler, great video. Would you be able to comment on the tool you used at 2:46 to keep the holes aligned while drilling through the other side of the tube? I have to do this often and get horrible results, your way looks much better!
