Great revival. I hope there's a part three where you guys tackle the tires, brakes, and interior (headliner). I think this car is a keeper!

Other channels swap out those old flat 6 cylinders, but they have so much torque. They are a blast to drive. Thanks for saving one and showing that they are just as cool as a LS.
@DarkFlamage

I bet If there was a muffler that ole beast , you wouldn't even know it was running.
@RaggedyAtom
@RaggedyAtom Месяц назад
They usually swap them out because the old 6 cylinders were known for being gas guzzlers. They may have had bad fuel mileage, but they're reliable, surprisingly very torquey, and also very simple to maintain as accessibility on servicing the engine is easy.
@RaggedyAtom
@RaggedyAtom Месяц назад
@@DarkFlamage It would have a similar exhaust note to a Studebaker of similar year as it uses an almost identical engine, meaning it would've been pretty quiet, or it would've sounded like a truck as most 6 cylinder engines sounded like one because of the amount of torque those engines had.

I was sitting there trying to get the stock radiator from 1965 Impala Super Sport repaired and nobody does that anymore I ended up going down the street of the guy that used to own the radiator repair shop when I was growing up lo and behold I get to the end of the street where mr. Carver lives and he is sitting on his front porch I waved at him he's in his nineties now he asked me how I did I think you mistake me for my father but I told him well I told him I'd been by his old shop and nobody repairs radiators anymore he asked me what I had I told him he said grab it bring it back to my shop in about an hour and a half and three bears he had that thing soldered up that was 4 years ago and it's never had a bit of a leak sense he made a comment that somebody had done good work on another little patch on it and I guaranteed him if anybody you never patched before it would have been a ham he just kind of smiled I asked him how much I owed him you guys just leave me the rest of that 12-pack I carried a 12-pack over there every month till last year when his wife had told me he had passed away at 99 years old unfortunately the true definition of a Dying Breed

Now that its all cleaned up, the Savoy's green paint actually resemble a worn-out Brunswick green that was on British Railway locomotives and rolling stock in the 1950s and 60s!

I SOOO wish that today's cars had the gorgeous lines and character that ones of yesteryear had. I mean EVERY vehicle manufacturer put every ounce of heart and soul into every model they gave to the public! But, unfortunately, it's not only the vehicles we have to choose from today.... it's pretty much everything offered to us. Wonderful what y'all are doing and I truly look forward to seeing what's next! 💙🙏🏼💙

Can't believe how well this car scrubbed up after being left for dead for so long. She definitely deserves a new rear window, some seat covers and maybe even a headliner, to make the cabin a nicer place to be. Not a show car by any stretch but a cool old cruiser that I wouldnt be ashamed to show up with to a cars & coffee or maybe even daily drive during the summer months.

There were three trim levels for 1954. Plaza was the base model, Savoy like this was middle. Belvedere was the fancy one. The emergency / parking brake is on the drive shaft. The wheel studs on the left side of the car are left hand thread. The front brakes have both upper and lower wheel cylinders. A drum puller is needed to remove rear brake drums. Although not the sleekest stying, Plymouth had the reputation as being well built, comfortable, practical, reliable, sturdy cars.

This is the of the best bring-back-to-life I've seen. It's so much more "real world" than most channels. The paint looks *fanastic*; knocking out the dents; bringing the valves back to life; getting the brakes up and running. It runs great, and looks fantastic. That is now one of my favourite models/ years. Very well done and greetings from Prague. CZ

Additionally, I have images in my head of a parts car my dad bought in 1965, when I was 5, he purchased to do a restoration of his car. It was painted red with a white roof by his good friend (outside) and in 1971 when I was 11 I helped him when he discovered his "JC Whitney" rebuilt motor had a mixture of truck and car connecting rods, which resolved his odd rod knock. I cut my teeth on a 53 Plymouth. I even have all the original dealer brochures... Just because. This video is a great blast into my past.
