HiveSwap FriendSim Act 18: Lanque Bombyx [NO COMMENTARY] 

All right, hear me out: So, the beginning of the route is the branching point of two timelines. There is one in which Lanque is an emotionally manipulative prick, and one where he is a kind(?) poet. The narration in the former is harsh, while the latter’s narration feels more neutral. The timeline with Prick Lanque has the “good ending”. But you can get another ending from Poet Lanque, called Valid End, where you don’t befriend him at all. This, not being the good ending, is not canon. In the epilogues (spoilers, by the way) there are two paths. In one, the story takes a more grimdark tone. The main narrator is shown to not be objective, and he is a prick who really likes making things about the smexxytimes. This is the “canon” epilogue. In the other, the narration remains relatively objective, neutral until the very end. In this path-which is very non-canon-original characters are introduced, time passes, melodrama happens, and character arcs are made. Though mostly irrelevant to the plot, it exists. It may not matter to Paradox Space, but it matters to the readers. Candy was the Valid End of the epilogues. Meat was the Good End (though one could argue that it didn’t end well, or even end at all). V, you sneaky, sneaky human.

The way the fourth wall was completely absent at the start, the way the first segment made me think "alright yeah why not" and the sheer whiplash I got on the second segment just hit me like a bat to the jaw. I am speechless at the writting on this episode. I'm torn, you know. It's is absolutely impossible the first Lanque is the intended character, it's "too good to be true" but also I DO NOT want to accept the second Lanque. Although his character was a blast and I enjoyed the episode, out of all the pieces of shit you befriend in the game he's got to be up there with Zebruh.

He's pretty complicated for multiple reasons. Like holy shit, that was NOT a frienddddsim in the NSFW/badddd route. The reason they made him seem flower boy/ scummy is playing off stereotypes, that's the whole basis of the trolls. Gamzee was a stereotype of the juggalo fandom, Kuprum was a stereotype of 4chan. Hell, even Kankri was a play on the sjw stereptype. It's kind of like a call out posts, and it works for hiveswap/homestuck. So, I can give a little kudos to the creators for making such a call out on stereotypes.
