The adventure really does write itself! This has brought me so much joy to watch the vision and story materialize. The little things seem to really bring it together. From the broken down car, to the abandoned farm house with the widow standing outside. Even the moose looking twice before he crosses the tracks adds so much value. I think one of my favorite spots is the back lot studio with the little millennium falcon in it.

Lol . . . I was looking at the studio the other night during some night ops. It really looks cool at dusk on the layout.

I check my emails several times a day and then almost always open RU-vid to be sure I don't miss one of your videos. My body is a bit too old and my "nest egg" keeps shrinking but your skills and talent keep my mind going strong and able to visualize the 9'x12" HO scale railroad I built starting in 1957 and that was still in progress in 1963 when I left home for college. Your work, talent, and words of wisdom are truly amazing and inspirational.

At the end of the day, I don't think it really matters if it's small or large. If you build to satisfy your convictions, time will always play against you. On the other hand, if the passion and confidence is high concerning the subject, nothing else really matters. ;-) Cheers.

Do you have the Haboob that Phoenix gets? In northeastern AZ, we had some 70-90 mph winds, particularly in the Spring. That would be the only thing that perhaps you may want to think about in regard to the rollup door. Other than that, I think your reasoned responses to the concerns of others were right on.

We get formidable gales up here in the Pacific Northwest as well. Maybe some don't understand art and music. I just pick the music that fits the theme and feel of the video content. If you look at the title of the songs (below in the description), they always match the particular content and often reflect my philosophy about the layout. Most, if not all, of the subscribers understand that, but I guess some don't. Cheers and thanks for sharing! ~ Boomer.

Boomer as always great info I’m looking for a reason to put railings on something now lol.One question , how did you drill the holes for the railing in the beams just measure each one or a jig?Also great camera work can’t imagine how hard that was enough of a struggle just to build !
@boomerdiorama
@boomerdiorama 12 дней назад
Sorry for the delay to get back to you. The channel comment section was messed up and they just fixed it. I pre-drilled the holes. The base plastic sheet is .060" thick. If you solder quick it won't melt. You can make them on a jig as well if you are comfortable with that method.
@sukhdeepubhi4062
@sukhdeepubhi4062 17 дней назад
I’m going to use that same technique to build new railings for my locomotives that have broken plastic railings and stanchions! Thanks what type of solder are you using?
@boomerdiorama
@boomerdiorama 16 дней назад

@sigmanfloyd7179
@sigmanfloyd7179 18 дней назад
A few questions if I may. Who made up your SeaSpan decals or stickers for the side of your ferry? Do you ever use Meeden paints when air brushing? Do you ever mix Tamiya paints and if so do they mix well? I ask because I want to paint a couple units in the B.C. Hydro colours but I want them to be like the orangy-yellow look, not bright yellow lile the unit you own. I'd send you a picture of what I mean if I were able. Thank you
@boomerdiorama
@boomerdiorama 18 дней назад
The Seaspan Logo is paint. I cut the logo by tracing over Tamiya tape with a #11 blade on plastic, then layed it up and sprayed it with the airbrush. I cover this later on in the ongoing Ferry series every Sunday. I use Tamiya acrylics almost exclusively through the five hundred videos on the channel. When it comes to colors I mix my own. Try mixing some flat yellow Tamiya with a little Gloss orange. Add the orange to the yellow until you like it, then thin it way down. Cheers.

Can’t you use plastic rods for the railings instead of the fancy looking brass since you’re going to paint it anyway?
@boomerdiorama
@boomerdiorama 18 дней назад
Sure you can. For some I do, but not for the ones that get bumped and abused all the time from simply reaching over, etc. Brass railings in vulnerable positions take alot of abuse due to operational ergonomics.😁
@jeffmurphree2937
@jeffmurphree2937 16 дней назад
What type of solder and flux do you recommend? A 40 watt soldering iron is ok?
@boomerdiorama
@boomerdiorama 16 дней назад
I use rosin core flux and make sure to scrub every solder clean with 99% IPA. With scratch built turnouts I clean thoroughly with IPA, soapy water and a toothbrush. I also clean the part to solder with emery cloth as well. I have never had a solder fail yet. The only few that did were because of a cold solder and dirty tip.
