HOAs should be made illegal. They have very little pros and a ton of cons. There is no reason for their to be an HOA anywhere as they have very little to no checks and balances. And they can make up a ton of rules that should not be a thing in the first place. Having a bunch of houses that look the same on the outside is a bad idea. People like to do their own thing to their house. Whether that be putting a basketball hoop up. Painting their house a weird color. Or putting up a fence. HOAs cost a decent amount of money and the homeowners don't get much in return since they have to deal with a bunch of nonsense rules. And when the HOA has to do something. It is like pulling teeth. They should be made illegal.

A friend of mine used to be a cargo pilot. His company used to buy them tickets to and from work. The good part was he got to keep all the miles. To anyone who has a family member that wants to announce their, engagement or pregnancy at someone else's event. If they told you they're going to do it, then get on social media or family group text and tell everyone that before your wedding or baby shower. A douche move yes but, so is them doing something at your event. This works for gender reveals as well. Anything a relative threats to do on your day, just tell everyone, that you know and they know right away. I had to end a 20-year friendship over an entitled douchebag staying in my home and then thinking he could take over and make rules that didn't even apply to him.

There is a financial incentive for developers to set up HOA's. However human nature being what it is petty, power mad ARSE HOLES are usually the only ones who seek positions on HOA boards. All HOA's should lapse after 5 years and become voluntary neighbourhood improvement groups.

Sorry but I worked in the Hospitality Industry for 20 years including a 503 room major casino hotel. Housekeeping does NOT contact anyone about items left in the room unless it is a firearm or illegal materials and then the police handle that.
