The first story. Why on earth would OP and his wife even think that a pool, IN THEIR BACKYARD, would be 'community' property? And they actually allowed everyone access to their backyard? And if there had been an accident, WHO WOULD HAVE BEEN LIABLE?
Yeah all these HOA things make no sense, how can they have a pool that's not even on their own ground? And making it an "adult only" pool sounds gross.
Yeah, that one really doesn't make sense. Feels almost like someone had an AI write the story. HOAs don't get to just declare someone's backyard pool as community property, that's ridiculous.
@@KamiNoBaka1 I think that one was because they got permission from the last homeowners to put it there as long as they maintained it. But then they tried to cut out the new owners. I think it must be a really big pool that wouldn't fit on HOA comunal land alone.
Hell the only time I even consider parking there is if I’m either loading something heavy into my vehicle (and it’s already next to the curb) or if I pulled up to let a passenger into my vehicle
Story 1: Who was maintaining the pool- cleaning, chlorine, etc? OP was too laid back and uninformed when buying his house. It seems that he was not sure about the property line.
At least not without scary stores about serial murders perpetrated on the HOA officers, or better yet, rumors of sexual misconduct and STDs. (I read on another post where a woman left a note on a wind screen with the words "I'm pregnant -- Call me." and a lipstick kiss The man's wife found the note. I'm still laughing.)
for the most part a 5 year old knows how to swim unless they weren't taught for some reason. the HOA can't legally ban children from the pool unless they've done something dangerous or unsanitary
Agreed, but if the pool is on HIS property, why would he be crazy enough to allow others access. First insurance certainly would have an issue, and one could never trust the HOA policy to fulfill any accident that happened on his property. Could have happened, but sounds fake as a 3 dollar bill.
People are just silly as hell to buy property somewhere with the HOA and they tell you what to do on your own property. Don't complain you sign the paper deal with it.😢
@@Mama_Bear_of_3 It's great..until it isn't. Generally, when you join a HOA you give them power over your property that no one but the owners should have. Sure, there are many HOAs where that authority isn't abused, but the fact that it can be abused is the problem. So I think it's generally foolish to join one. Having said that, there are some HOAs that exist for specific functions and are limited to those functions, and those are not an issue. A few years ago, when my wife and I were looking for a place to build a house on, we came close to buying a property with a shared lake. It was shared with only ONE other home owner. The HOA was entirely limited to maintaining the levee that created the lake. That made sense, and I would have signed that one. But we bought another property instead, and have our own lake and no HOA, which is better.

I don't get it. Are you telling me the people playing Marco Polo were over 18? Finally, if all that were true and it was established that the pool was in his backyard, then it becomes his pool and the homeowners association no longer has access to it. So the HOA president would not pasdle by.
Where i'm from (and most other nations from what i've heard) if you park in an "emergency vehicles only" zone (like in front of a fire hydrant) the emergency crew can use any and all means to move your vehicle out of the way, this mainly include pushing it with their MUCH bigger and heavier firetruck, AND *YOU* will be billed for any damages to the emergency vehicle, get a fine for obstruction AND most insurances dosen't cover it.
sorry the first story is about a backward pool that the homeowners personally owned pool and another stupid HOA trying to say it was owned by the hoa. real question is how much did the HOA pay for the pools upkeep while demanding access? my guess HOA owes year of fees
Why would you comply with a hoa on what you can or can not do with your owned pool. At 1st . Order from the hoa that my kid couldn't be in her pool I would have gotten a lawyer.
If own pool the of home owner property the HOA got no right not use the pool. I think the HOA knew pool op. I think same or all of the didn’t have pool because that this board member want a power trip he have to play in this family should not. Then claim this on. HOA land.
I had a friend who was narcissistic slurry tanker (incase you don't know what that is, it's a cow manure spreader lol) I have been a fan of Green Day since I was 7 years old, I had got 2 ticket's to go see them and she said she'd buy the other 1 off me, she did but logically I knew it was a bad move from the word go! Anyway we had to wait because of the pandemic crap, and when the day came closer I told her she HAD to be ready for 10am for us to get to Derry to get the bus to Dublin. She said she would which I knew she wouldn't as she always dilly dallys, probably purposely as she only matters and no one else. I land over at her parents house across the street from mine, and what do you know she was nowhere near ready. I sat and waited feeling like just walking out and getting myself to Derry to get the bus but held on a while longer. About an hour and 30 mins later she was ready, we then had 30 mins to get to Derry to catch the bus. She took the wrong road and blamed it on me, (that's when she saw my angry self) I told her how the F was it my fault if she was the one driving. She was quiet for a min, I looked at my phone and found that we had 5 mins to get to Derry and we were in Claudy so there was no way of making it to the bus. So I said F it we may as well go home because we're going to miss the bus now!! And in the end up she wanted to get herself a new phone, that's the main reason she messed everything up, because her son smashed her phone a few days prior! She messaged me the next day as if she didn't ruin everything, I didn't reply. Then a few months later I found out she said the reason we missed the concert was because I was having IBS problems??? Lol aww she also spread a load of other false stories about me and my family that I had just found out about round then too. I no longer speak to her, I would pass myself with her parents and siblings but I walk past her if I see her. To be honest I'm surprised I haven't heard any other stories lately?? Lmfao
Phil really screwed up big time Because of his sense of entitlement EVERYBODY LOST OUT on access to the pool, So he’s gone from the good guy to public enemy number one Just one point The HOA was paying for the maintenance of the pool Obviously that would stop once it was established whose pool it was Would OP be liable for the costs to the HOA for all the maintenance keep and chemicals used Or could it just be said that that was the rental for the HOA using the pool and allowing everyone to use the pool
Excellent point! If OP bought the house with the pool and wasn't at all involved in maintaining it, then he should have figured i wasn't actually his and that should have raised some serious red flags. If he was maintaining it himself, then he should have known that he had sole control over who was allowed to use his pool.
Story one: If you never signed the papers, then you aren't a member of the HOA, and so don't have to do ANYTHING they demand, including pay them any dues! You should tell them to pound sand. Your pool is your private property and you don't need to share it with anyone or pay any attention to any HOA rules. And as has already been mentioned, letting others use it is a serious liability problem. Invite your friends if you like, WHEN YOU LIKE, but keep the gate locked and put up signs, and make sure everyone knows it is private property and trespassing will not be tolerated.
