Well, this one didn't meet my expectations but I caught a limit. You can't win the tournaments on Day 1 but you can certainly lose it on Day 1.
In this tournament I was using the new Hobie Lynx Kayak and navigating shallow rocky shoals and shallow river grass beds. The kayak performed well and allowed me to get super shallow in some areas.
Rods Used: Temple Fork Outfitters Tactical Bass
Reels Used: Shimano Curado DC
Bait: Z-Man Jackhammer in 3/8oz Golden Shiner w/ a Yamamoto Zako Trailer in TN Shad

Not good at all actually, it's not a boat I'd recommend for areas where you might encounter abrasive or sharply pointed rocks. After just 3 trips on the Susquehanna, the Lynx I was using looked like a 3 year old rotomolded river kayak. Aside from that, it's also VERY loud in current and when hitting against stuff. For me, I'd call the Lynx an inshore/marsh style water kayak only.

@@JakeHarshman Thanks Jake, thats just what i thought. I have a lynx and ill keep it for the small lakes I fish. I’ll use the slayer 10 for everything else.

Jake I've been patiently waiting for you to post this. Did you leave the PA 14 behind because of how high the water levels were on July 31?

No sir, I opted for the Lynx due to weight, speed and shallow draft. If the BOS was a motorized event, I'd probably have still fished out of the PA 14. I also had planned on doing some creative access points that I opted not to do come tournament day.

I crawled around a PA 14 at Lancaster marine because of yours and other videos. I'm worried that it's just too much boat for me to pedal around the Susquehanna throughout the year. The 12 seems a little small but the 14 looks really big. Which one works best for an average guy ( no tournaments )who mostly fishes the river

@@williambrandt1890 The 12 is gonna be the right boat for you. But if it were me, I'd bypass LanCoMarine and travel down to Delaware Paddlesports. The staff is more helpful, more knowledgeable and you don't pay any sales tax.

Sorry you didn’t get into the big girls. You worked hard prepping for that tourney. I enjoyed the video. How well would the Lynx hold up on the rocks? Would you take it through the Dauphin Narrows?

I would like to know how tough the bottom is also The rocks concern me in that area. My kayaks bottom rash

It doesn't track well with no skeg or aggressive keel. This is a marsh boat.

Hey Jake, Fishing the Hobie BOS next week. Will the Lynx of PA14 be the better boat for the river?

Out of the two options, I'd say the Lynx. I'm fishing it too. I personally wouldn't want to take either boat you mentioned on this river right now but the Lynx is certainly the better option at the moment.

Yeah its just really low right now. The rain projected doesn't look like it will be enough to make much of a difference. It may cause a little stain but this is a huge watershed, it takes a good bit of widespread rain to make it rise. What I see projected is isolated and short afternoon thunderstorms.
