First, I loved the part where Dark blew you (up). Second, I think you can turn this into a DCS team sport! Imagine making different variations of canyon runs and making these even more difficult, but there's a catch! Turn it into a 5--person team event, where each team has 4 "goalies" and 1 "runner" where the goalies soak up all the damage via strategic methods and only the runner may ultimately score the final point at the end. You'd have to combine flying in the proper locations at the right time to soak anticipated damage from specific weapon systems and potentially even a couple guaranteed kill shots on your defenders during the course in order to survive. Essentially, a successful competition canyon map would have to be tuned to the point where it guarantees 2 out of 5 planes die even on a perfect run. Then, other teams could compete against you via furthest location, followed by time if both (all) teams failed, and by hitting the target and then time if teams succeeded. It's the next football I tell ya! : ) You can call this sport: "Can-you-run?" Baiscally it will sound like a non-native speaker trying to say canyon run hah. Scoring a bunker kill at the end can be called a "Blow-up-job"
Saturday is the perfect day to post these as we've turned it into a drinking game. Visualize five drunk veterans in my basement chanting at the screen MATRIX! MATRIX! MATRIX! Dark! Dark! BIRD BIRD! *Take a drink every time cap dies*
At the risk of being mostly ignorant of DCS aircraft choices, Id be curious to see what this run would be like with some of the F111 variations from that era?
Even a buggy mess of Star Wars footage and models will be better than anything Disney can do, and a lot cheaper too :) ...... Hopefully you'll get the models working soon.
I don't think it'll work. The mozzy will get picked up at that close range and the WW1 planes are so slow you wouldn't need radar to shoot them. I'd still watch it though 👍
Here is an idea for a scenario: Instead of going back in time with modern weapons platforms (a GR favorite), how about bring an old weapons platform into the future? For example could a WW2 Navy carrier group helped defeat the initial Argentine invasion of the Falklands? Or Saddams invasion of Kuwait? Could the WW2 US 8th Airforce helped defeat ISIS? Of course GR would suffer horrific casualties…but all the more fun!
a bit of a long shot how about the F-104, fast at low altitude, small frontal area, small wings, were used as attack aircraft by the Germans you never know might just be elusive enough?
@@MB-mr4ek I guess I don't have it installed, and I guess I haven't flown it. Neither have the Grim Reapers against soviet bombers, nor has Growling Sidewinder. Hmmmm
@@ShovelMonkey There's a VSN mod, but nobody knows whether it's accurate or not, same as all their other mods. They aren't very high quality which is why most content creators seem to avoid using them most of the time. Even the F-35 the reapers use is heavily changed from what VSN released.
Is there a BSG mod with Vipers and Raiders? Would love to see one made by you guys or use one already made with guys dodging the ground guys of this while also dodging some shots from Pegasus and a Basestar
One question and some ideas. Are the missiles able to lock onto the warbirds? They may not generate enough heat for a good lock in which case the warbirds would want to fly high. Alternately you could try lower, 50ft or less for the whole run so you get more terrain masking.
DCS really needs the Sabre with the additional 2000lb available using the orenda engine. there will still be pain, but a slightly increased chance of pulling off this ridiculous mission.
@@stephen_1987 the performance down low for the Avon is really close, only 10mh less than the MK6 with no maneuvering limitations. I'd agree that either would be a better stand in for that near impossible mission.
Could you guys do some Red Arrows themed battles, Hawks vs Migs, Hawks vs Harriers, vs F16s etc. It was Trooping the Colour today so do it for Prince Charlie
I touched one of the two remaining flying Landcasters today, June 15, Goderich airport, saw it fly yesterday.......shook the ground, good planes lads, alot of young people there also,
@layneanderson9582 *Concur on the USN-USMC / Chance Vought F4U-4, which was meant as an attack fighter from the outset.* Also the USN-USMC / Douglas AD-3 attack aircraft, which has the armament for counterattacking the ZSU-23's.
That’s what matrix was bitching about though. The non radar guide as in dcs is just as accurate. It’s crazy good. Only a few of the guns in this scenario are radar guided. I think, if he wants them to pull this off (a big if) cap, will have to make it easier somehow.
Canyon runs get a Supercap's baby's 'MOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORE!!!' Fab entertainment thanks guys; actually- getting strong echoes of the fabulous approach run to the Dams raid you did in Mossies several years back- repeating that in various different aircraft would be superb. Don't suppose bloody DCS will ever produce a player flyable Lancaster, consequently they'll never get a penny from me! 😛
I love these canyon runs, they remind me so much of the anime Area 88 where the Aslan mercs had to run something very similar, except at night in both the original movies and the series as well. Tons of fun to watch, great stuff GR crew!
Dark releasing his bomb early and blowing up Cap is a pure GR moment 😅🤣! It reminds me of older videos where this kind of hilarious stuff almost always happened, creating the ultimate "doomed by team mates" difficulty level. Favorite quote : "Throttles should be welded in the forward position" - I couldnt agree more ! BTW, I hope you'll get the SW mods working, can't wait to watch it. Great content as usual, keep it up guys ! 😉
+GrimReapersAtomic *How about the Henschel 129, which can counterattack the Flak? the Douglas AD (USDoD after 1962: A-1), which can also counterattack the Flak?*
You need to do this Canyon Run in the B-one-R, F-111, Tomcat, Tornado, A6, Tu-160, and the Mig-31Firefox. You completely skipped the F-104, shame on you.
It's a shame about the star wars machines not working. I could suggest a bot air balloon, but I think that would take weeks to get there. But C-130 and a MOAB?
We need a recreation on the OP Rolling Thunder Attack on the Dragons Jaw bridge. 94 Thunderchiefs made attack runs on it. While the Vietnamese attacked with Migs.
How hard is it to hit a moving target in real life? Not as hard as you'd think actually. You aim for a point in space that will be full of Aircraft when your rounds get there. I've actually hit an F-15 in real life with a simulated round. GOt my ass chewed for it but didnt do any real damage to the F-15 and he was at 500' AGL
