HOI4 Challenge: Amha Selassie's Democratic Ethiopia 

Making this video caused me to push over 2000 hours in Hoi4, I don't think I would've even passed 1000 if not for making content for this game. You would not believe how many extra runs I end up doing to be sure it's all in place. This one for instance, I was originally going to flip via 60% democratic support and didn't even learn of the easier way until the 2nd run.

Your dedication to doing stuff nobody else seems to does (which gets people interested in trying those paths) is something I appreciate, congrats on 2K hours

there is a cool decision in the ballence of power tab when you go over 35% ish percent to the messafint where you get +5% research speed, you can get there from the start of the game from getting the dude out of retirement, supporting local roads, and then a combination of advisors or events to push yourself there, grab the 5% research speed. then head back towards the mekawint because its just better lol

The absolute best way to battle plan on 1/1/1936 is to Consolidate all infantry and move all Infantry south and Irregulars north. Irregulars have bigger width so they match Italian troops really easily. Heres the trick, don't battle plan just manually micro. You will need to save the first 35 army XP on the top left Army spirit (XP and command power gain) and your first 15 Cmpwr on Entrenchment or Reinforce Rate General Bonuses. If you prefer, there is a general with -50% promotion cost if you have 20 Cmpwr. Push the balance of power to the left, almost always, but first you should push it to the right so you can get rid of Chitet (Army tree, you need to do this for achievement runs, otherwise its almost impossible to build your army). Thats it. Italo Ethiopian war tree is pretty bad and wastes time, avoid it and you will be stronger.

Btw you can hold shift then draw your front line on a field marshal level frontline so the line isn't divided between the generals in the army group

Have you tried the Ethiopia exile mini trees? The Japan one has some really beautiful focus icons but unfortunately you can only get it on ahistorical or by tagging over to Japan

I actually found this by accident my first play of the dlc. Its actually really obnoxious bc if your too slow and you don't see the trait you flip without knowing and get blocked from your focuses

I think they should add a national spirit for strikes because come on Italians came to colonize us for the second time and we are literally the last independent nation at Africa except tiny Liberia. Our Strikes percentage must be lower like %30 or maybe even %20

Why just why...... why would ANYONE choose this path?

The northern defensive line should follow behind the river, not go in front of it. Extending units in front of the river gives absolutely zero benefit as you will still be defending 4 mountain tiles either way, except now only one of them is protected by a river. The hill fighter general should also be assigned to the north so he can grind out adaptable, which helps massively with taking back Eritrea

Kinda surprised you didn't use any planning bonus. I also wonder if it's worth rushing for scavenger tactics since you essentially can't make your own guns.
