The whiplash of it all is one my favourite things to record yet. I've learnt since making this that you can atleast do the Women's Movement and still be able ban fascism, since it only gives 5% extra support. This means you can keep the useful national spirit and still flip Democratic in the end.

I did this again today and was able to get the civil war during the first Moscow trial. Took a bit of save scuming because depending on the starting province you are given you might literally have no manpower. It turns out a full manpower division of 1 artillery beats any division template with no manpower. After 3 tries I finally got a decent start province. I found another broken mechanic if you hire the democratic reformer you can open political discourse and then hold a 3rd referendum. Only useful if for some reason the referendum event fires before you finish the dismantle the sobor focus. Just make sure you bank political power if you get unlucky because if you have high democracy support but your government is non-aligned you will get a civil war within around a month.

Because Russian official name during Soviet era was Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic. As Federative Republic, it had 16 autonomous republics withing itself. USSR was just highly centralized confederacy and republics it was made of were real states, just without sovereign diplomacy. So on papers, USSR was never a Russia, therefore Russian Federation did not renamed itself from USSR to RF. It left the Union and renamed itself from RSFSR to RF It keeps Federation part because it still has Republics within itself.
