Thanks man, it was a really fun car to film. The torque converter takes a bit of getting used to, but when you know how much you can lean on it, it was really consistent. Awesomely fun car, but defs needs some better rear tyres. They were at the end of their life cycle for sure.

It was one of the hardest car's we've ever filmed to capture the sound of. As soon it's on song, the mics just distorted. Such a fun car!!!

@@ZeroTo60Tube my brother has a 700 bhp 335i and I've got an E61 530d so I'm interested in the N54 and BMW project stuff but I also like the variety of cars on the channel and who doesn't like a good 0 to 60 run 🙂

We are on the same page haha. Love the BMWs, a lot obviously, but anything with an engine has potential to bring a smile to our faces. The reality is, whether its a Nissan Micra with 50hp or a tuned M5 with 700hp, we want to take it for drive!!!

Yes all related,there are a few Monza's in Aus as Peter Brock was campaigning to import them. Unfortunately it did get the green light from GMH,but of the couple i saw in real life both had VH commodore front end panels fitted.

The Aussie Commodore was based on a GM world plan body. It had significant structural changes in the floor pan and suspension uprights because the test car from Europe litterally fell apart in outback testing. The Monza Brock imported was planned to be mas imported with a HDT improved 308 V8, but Holden refused to carry out the engineering changes to make it pass ADRs, so it was shelved, but all was not lost as Brock used the independent rear suspension in his HDT Director. In hindsight, we probably shouldn’t have put that in the video..... haha. Someone was on the wrong gear when they painted this thing.

Honestly i think it would be low 4's. On that fastest run, we're not even starting to wind the power on until about 40kph. We know that particular road is bad for traction. Using the stall the converter the way it was intended would be epic. The owner has had it on a drag strip with these tyres and they didn't even hook on the prepped surface. Regardless it makes it such a fun car to cruise around in. We can't believe it's nearly 40 years old.

Dont worry your VT will be a collectors item soon and have just as much appeal. Make sure you don't ever sell ethel.

Oh- here we go... Trimatic, huh? Maybe his 355 won't destroy them they way my RB30 turbo R31 does at Calder every time i try and launch on full boost. It runs 9.80 if you let if off the foot brake at 22psi and makes almost 500rwhp

I've got a built VT era 5.0L with the old 308 Engine No punched in (so no cat's needed), an old GT4294R and a T5 (i know!!!) for now. I'm lucky, my one has 143000k's on it and is pretty clean. This one you featured in awesome!!!. Bit more of an old school flavour- but still VERY cool!

Yes, hooning is a bit of a problem and we are worried that people might think we are encouraging it. Which isn't the case. There's a time and place for it. We do make an effort to make things look theatrical for the videos, some of that is done with in the editing, tricks which we might share down the track about how we make things look and sound like they do. We are also not always the ones driving the cars. If you look real closely at the skid in this video, my watch disappears and the audio is also from a different point throughout the day. We are always careful and hopefully any police watching the footage are good enough drivers to calculate and understand what is being shown, at which point they should then move on worrying about real criminals.

Ohhh yes, the times before crash safety really evolved were exciting. A lot of people don't know how lucky they are today, which is a shame because back when i was learning to drive, if you had a crash at 80kph or higher there was a very good chance you would have been killed, and fear plays on your mind.

I think he said he did buy the sender gear but never bothered fitting it when he decided to go to the race pack dash. But yeah it was a wicked car to have for the weekend. Got more looks than any other car we have had on the channel.

Getting those 2 mixed up would be an issue 😂. Because the car was so loud the mics and audio is a bit funny, but I actually said VC. Still not 100% correct but to me VC and VH are nearly the same car. Plus the thing was an animal and I was mostly just trying to process its speed

Zero To 60 , gotta have it vertical(inlet/outlet on bottom), pump will cavitate as it is now, hence more noise. Is it a bypass system or dead-head?

You'd probably blow the engine buddy. We use them at my workplace and they're not built for hard running

@@joshnolte Feathering is the only option when your running a 4800 stall and street tires. If not, it will just end up as a huge burnout and terrible times

I think that is what makes them exciting haha. To be fair, if you sink some money in to handling you can get these really working well. The "Commodore Cup" race series that was around 10-15 years ago, had a brilliant low cost suspension setup which would get these out handling GT3 Porsches. But you are 100% correct about the stock ones.

@@ZeroTo60Tube I have a couple of old 240z's so was keen to see how a VB with a straight 6 drove. The old Holden Red engine was very asthmatic. Made me appreciate how far ahead the Nissan L6 of a similar vintage was and the clutch in the holdens was very heavy. I've learnt that sometimes if you drive a bad example it can really ruin your opinion of a particular car. But I've always found the Japanese stuff to be really well built and ahead of its time. I do like the styling of the old VBs and I've always had a soft spot for the VK SS Blue Meanies but not sure if I would ever own 1.
