Ladies, there is nothing wrong with ‘being alone the rest of your life.’ The problem with this society is that it’s placed a supreme value on relationships, which in turn I believe are simply media generated fantasies. Better to be alone, then in bad company. Worse yet, jeopardizing your children, and opening the doors for abuse, and who knows what else.

Speaking as an older woman, if a man of a younger years shows interest” think scam! When I was young an older woman told me that after 50 they want a nurse or a purse!

The sad thing is that these women would never give their struggling relatives a penny ...but they would give it to young men that they dont know !

Meeting someone who doesn't speak your language on holiday, is decades younger than you, proposes marriage in 2 days and immediately starts treating you like a cash cow. Yeah, no bells and whistles going off there.🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄

Nobody falls in love faster than a man who needs your money. I don't know how they thought these men were genuine. Crazy.

As a woman myself, the lack of critical thinking of a lot of women is such a mystery to me. I think every rich man that is with a woman far younger, far more attractive (and poor), is well aware of her motives. A lot of rich men are willing to accept being used because they too use the woman in return (as arm candy and fun entertainment). These women are flabbergasted when their "partner", that is 20 years their junior, looks like a model and asked them for money and a Visa within a few months, turns out to be a scam. 🙄 Come on ladies! Open your eyes!

I am 63 and divorced in 2015. It really is important to find yourself, learn to love yourself, and regain self-respect. You won't find that jumping into a relationship with someone just because you don't want to be lonely regardless of whether it's on holiday or anywhere else especially online on dating sites. I understand that not all women are the same and have different personalities, characteristics, and life experiences. Please be discerning and cautious. I find it rather worrying that you would believe that someone' loves' you in a matter of days/weeks and then want to marry you.!!!! I do hope that these women have learned from these very painful emotional and financial experiences. Really very tragic and sad.

I met a man in Kenya back in 2004, we had a holiday relationship for 2 years, I visited many times, I loved being with him and missed him whenever I had to leave for home, but I always knew from the outset that no matter what happened I would never marry him or bring him home to the UK. For me, it was just too much of a risk to believe in him, and knew when he started asking for money, that it would definitely backfire on me, so I had to cut him out of my life.

I feel sorry for the women, but let's be real here: Very few 22 y/o men are going to actually fall in love with and be sexually attraced to a woman twice his age. I feel like some men and women are so desperate for a relationship that they literally will believe anything and anyone. It is sad, but it is hard to understand their desperation and naivete.

When I was very young, though not under age, an older man began courting me. He had no job and no money but he was handsome and seductive. My father got wind of what was happening. He sat me down and asked, "Did he say this? Did he say that?" I was surprised as he quoted exactly what my suitor had said to me. I said, "Yes, how do you know?" His answer, "Because that's what we men always say."

The first time a man asks for money after saying they'll treat you like a queen they're a liar. If a foreigner says they want to marry you, RUN! They may use the words you want to hear, but those words mean different things to them. They come from a culture with different values.

When you are dating someone who is poorer than you, you can never know if the relationship is "real" until you are both on equal footing. So not until they get their money and visa will you see the true colors.

There are warnings everywhere - documentaries, magazines, police etc but people choose to ignore warnings!

Some of these women are up in age(60s); and yet still they are making horrible relationships. It's hard to feel sorry for them. Why would you send money to a man that you've not met.

Its high time people realised being alone isnt such a bad thing.....society and culture needs to stop selling the notion you need to grow old with someone. You can even grow old by your kids side, grandchildren, friends etc

She is lonely + is used to being married; however, when you are asked for $ you drop it. Please don’t let this happen to you. After he puts you off twice and/or requests $, you must exit the ‘situationship’ immediately. Period. If you’re feeling lonely now, it’s nothing compared to what could happen!

I don't get people's fear of "dying alone". We all die alone, regardless if we are married or not. If I ended up without a partner in my 40ies, I'd just accept the single life and enjoy the days I have left rather than desperately look for someone. My mother became a widow at 52 and never ever looked for someone else, she just enjoyed her life as it was.

When you blame the women for being "stupid", you have to remember that it's a generational thing. I'm 57, and I totally understand them. Society does not value women our age. We are considered something to be pitied if we don't have a man. I'm happily divorced, and enjoy my rescue dog and two cats for company. Still, my friends are bugging me about "when are you going to be ready to start dating again?" The pressure is there, even from the most well meaning people. We are also socialized to have kind hearts, and if someone seems to be in need, we should share what we have with them. I don't care how old you are, everyone deep down wants to feel loved and valued. These scammers have faking it down to a science. These scams are everywhere in Greece and Turkey as well. A real man should NEVER need to ask you for money. He should want to support YOU, not sponge off of you. Please be careful ladies. You have value on your own, just for being yourself. Get a pet, hang out with your female friends, get a hobby, do charity work in town. You'll meet someone in a normal way, just be patient and have faith. ❤

How can they NOT know? The giant age difference alone should set off alarms! I guess when you're lonely and being hugely flattered is how they got flimflammed.

The “ok, I was scamming you initially, but I really fell in love and do love you” is a known secondary scam, if the initial one is uncovered.

Here is some of my wisdom for free: (1) When in doubt: don't; (2) One doesn't fall in love. Love is a growth process on a clock (takes time); (3) Get into his head before you get into his bed; (4) Do thorough background checks before getting in too deep; (5) Stop the foolishness of going by looks. Looks can and are often deceiving. I'm sure you have heard the saying: All that glitters isn't gold. So, pay close attention to the signals--those red flags.

It's hard enough to make it a success with people of your own culture ... without getting involved with people who think differently due to being from another culture ! . Especially when from poorer countries !.

I feel so sorry for these women as I have been there myself. My advice now is that if you want to marry a foreigner; marry one that is already therie in your country with regular stay- and workpermittiin and has been in your country for several years so that he knows your culture and has accepted it and also your countries way of thinking.

Many years ago a friend of mine aged 42 was conned by a love rat and ended her own life. Dreadful.
