So sorry about the carriage ride, I can only imagine the disappointment , but great consolation prize I’m sure! Could you add liquid fertilizer to the water and write info onto each glass with a removable marker? Thanks for our consolation video, it was great and looking forward to the results! 🎄🇨🇦

I love the way that you are growing your bulbs, Janey. They are going to look so pretty when they bloom. Just thought that you might find it interesting to know that here in Australia we call “amaryllis” “hippeastrums ” and they bloom here outside in the garden when the weather warms up, usually in November or December. 😀🌷 I am so sorry that you didn’t get to go on your nice tour that you were all looking forward to; however it sounds like you are going to have a yummy 😋 feast and a fun, happy family time anyway! 😀😃

Looks great!! Put a label on the bottom of the vase

I use a label maker and stick it to the bottom of my vases, out of sight yet I can keep up with my varieties!

I think your garden task was a lot more fun than mine. I cleaned up my front flowerbed for winter. I cut things back and pulled weeds. But I was outside in the 60 degree sunshine, and I got some chores done. It was good. I am so sorry for your family and friends that the carriage ride was canceled. That cancellation was a complete bummer!

Hi Janey! I’m now wanting to do a bulb indoors! That tiger looking on was beautiful! I would use a dry erase marker or a wine glass marker to label the back of the vase. 😊

You could use pussywillow branches or birch branches to keep them up!

So sorry the carriage ride throuugh the Christmas lights was cancelled and glad you were able to find an alternative event to keep your spirits "bright." I have never heard of growing Amaryllis in water. It's something I would experiement with.

So fun! Got one as a gift last year and loved it so, of course this year I had to have more.

The house we moved into had Lillies in the yard and I dug some up and they’ve been in water for 2 months. I absolutely love water propagating my houseplants and I just love the insane roots! I didn’t know there were vases for this!! I love putting the round glass rocks in my mason jar propagations for a pop of color. So pretty! Thanks Janey!

So sorry to hear that your carriage ride is cancelled. Fingers crossed that you still get to do it this season. The second amaryllis going left to right is a little too deep in the stones. Like dirt you are only to have the bulbs covered halfway up. I don't want to see it get mushy or die. Enjoy and looking forward to seeing the updates on these.

Maybe you could try writing the name on the back of the vase with a dry erase marker?

Would be nice if they just added another night at the end, altho, wonder how many might have to be added. Just a thought to add to this experiment, you could use rain water in some vases, just to see if those grow better, bloom better, or what have you, they say rain water is the best. I think my fav is the all white one.

Do you have a label maker with clear tape? Print out the names and attach it to the bottom of each vase. And I’m sure a little liquid fertilizer in the water would be more than enough nutrients.

Sorry about your outing, I hope they'll reschedule! My Mom used good ole Miracle Gro liquid for her Orchids. That or similar might work for nutrition needs? I keep my tags, etc in a journal then mark the corresponding plant, but your idea of a photo is good. I'd print out those right away just in case 😬😉😸. Arrggh, all these great ideas but I won't be home until after the New Year! And nobody to keep them 'watered' ... Will go foraging at my garden center in January though and see what possibilities will present themselves.

I saw one for sale on Amazon for $29.99 plus $9.99 delivery. The company is seeds bulbs plants and more, I don’t know anything about them. There were other sellers wanting outrageous prices also on Amazon. Give it glance and see if it’s worth it, you never know. I have never ordered from those companies myself.

Just put them in soil after the blooms fade.

When do you order your bulbs?

WARNING: the red spots on a few of your amaryllis may be a fungus called red blotch. Look it up, sweet pea. There are ways to treat it. Also how you are growing them should keep it from spreading but just be aware. Xo!

I also have been eyeing that Amaryllis but I just can't justify the expense especially if you don't whether of not you can save it for the next year.

I add a capfull of 3% hydrogen peroxide to the water for all my bulbs in water.
