This movie was very good. I am so glad that Princess aka (Harriet) realized that she didn't belong down there in Harlem, NY where she came from. She had made it out of the hood with determination and education and family encouraging her. And she has a boyfriend that really loves her who was a successful attorney. She needed to be with people like herself. It's good to help people in need but you are only one person, and you can't save the whole world. You have to do your part and help some people. Great!! movie

I agree with all of that with the exception of her being so loose outside of marriage. Just a small note: Harlem is actually "up" there; its the Northernmost part of Manhattan. 1:19:43

Rebecca, You are sooo right, I've found that the FOUNTAIN of youth starts with the acceptance of the Word of God. He has a lot to say on aging, it begins in the mind the central professing unit for the body. If we can wrap our mind around what our CREATOR says about us, not what we think, read Ps 139, it says it all. I am 72 yes young same as some of the people in this movie today. I still play tennis, jog, walk, golf etc, because I embrace the Word of my Creator. I have the mind of Christ, I hold his thoughts and purposes in my heart.

I saw this on television when it originally aired , it was interesting then and still is . Some Blacks find success and some don't , some want to help and some want to forget , this dynamic is still ongoing . However, it was great to see images of successful Blacks too. Just like she said help from where you are . Thanks for these great films .

I think she was too confused between guilt, memories, and, as the boyfriend said: "wanting more of life." Sometimes it´s too hard to help, but it´s possible to "do" something, and that´s helping indirectly. Maybe that´s fairer for everyone; and it would give her a connection to both worlds she wanted to be in touch with.

Watching this movie for the first time at 35 years young I see this from a different perspective. You really can’t save everyone. Instead of Sweettalk getting his life together he wallowed in pity for himself then tried to blame Hattie for reacting to what he was. She was the first person in a long time to actually show him the truth. Danny had been enabling him for a long time. Hattie was right. Both Danny and Sweettalk were afraid of moving forward. At least Hattie attempted to come back and help unlike Paul and his buddy. In the end Hattie did what she could and still realized she could not go back and also move forward. Sweettalk robbed her and used the money to buy the drugs that killed him. Danny blaming her showed her that he too was stuck just as much as Sweet Talk. I’m glad she made the best decision for her.

Thank you for posting.... Excellent movie! "I want to help, and I know now what I have to do. But it has to happen from where I am... Not from where I have been." Love this!!💕 We need never apologize for "who we are". Maybe at times apologies are necessary for our behaviors, but never for our person. There is no cure for shame. In fact, most addictions are rooted in shame. Guilt is when we feel bad for what we have done. Shame is when we feel bad about who we are... We embrace who we are on the way to who we are becoming. #NoApologyNecessary!✨🦋😊
@pandawolfpresents
@pandawolfpresents 3 года назад
La-Sharon Isbell that's toxic advice, honestly. What about the true baddies? Should they embrace who they are and not apologize, nor feel ashamed of themselves ? - the sodomizers, the pedophiles, the rapists, the child murdrers, and etc???? - your statement umbrella them, also. *hence, my statement!
@LaSharonIsbellPilates
@LaSharonIsbellPilates 3 года назад
@@pandawolfpresents You are entitled to your opinion. However, I said what I said... and I stand by what I said. Sodomy, murder, rape, pedophilia are all acts of violence; harmful, destructive, toxic behaviors. Shame is at the root of compulsive, addictive behaviors and cluster B personalities (Narcissists & Psychopaths). Shame causes self hatred and inadvertently hate for others. Shame makes a person feel bad about who they are... No one who feels bad for who they are does anything productive. Shame is at the core of Narcissistic Personality Disorder and Antisocial Personality Disorder... hence those who usually commit the most viscous crimes without even a hint of guilt or remorse. These personality disorders are formed early on in life due to neglect or overindulgence. Shame at the core of identity doesn't cure. Shame many times cripple from reaching full potential. Remorse for behavior brings healing. Life is full of people who cannot get past their past because they are stuck in shame. "I may have done what they said I did, but I am not who they said I am.... My who is not my do."

@@pandawolfpresents Thank you... I have learned the hard way, and that is why I stand surefooted on what I have said, and will not allow some random RU-vidr talk me out of my truth. What is interesting is if you really knew how I was going to respond, you probably would not have even wasted your time. That is unless you just needed a dose of narcissistic supply. What's toxic is the present day culture we live in and people who began an interaction/conversation with criticism and insults for an opposing opinion. Communication 101: Sandwich praise/acknowledgement with criticism and praise. It allows you to have a teachable moment with someone without the need to insult or shame. Besides I don't think anyone died and made you "All" Knowing. Thank God for #WisdomKnowledgeDiscernment and of course #Truth. So blessed to know who I am, what I stand for, and my purpose. Btw... this will be my last comment to you, as to not feed into your dire need for acknowledgement and relevance. #HappyHealthyWhole💕

She made the right choice. Too many Black women struggle trying to build a man. She was successful and dating a successful man. They could build generational wealth and give back to the community in their own way.

I really enjoyed this movie. I like the ending / her understanding of how to help. not where she came from but where she is at now. which is part of accepting someone where they currently are.

Hattie Winston has a beautiful voice I was totally unaware she is a singer. I remember the episode of "Good Times" with Saundra Sharp playing Gary Coleman's mother. Anne-Marie Hosford played Dee on the "Wayans Brothers." Morgan Freeman playing a junkie, not a role you see often from him.

Hello...... What's so powerful bout drug addiction my friend? Makes me sad for days. People become servant of a drug, but don't want to serve God. This is killing so many people. It is artificial intoxication, but love of the Supreme Lord is the best high on this planet. Haribol.

No+ such great 🎦 movie I never saw Morgan Freeman perform so well actually the movie was very touching it also says when you make it you sometimes have to leave the past behind and live in the present even when it" hurts" if not the past will destroy, nonetheless, the fashion designer had a reality check which was excellent going back would have captured her I can relate to this particular movie 🎬 Thanks reelblack excellent choice.

Pretty good movie. I love these throw backs. I just hate how he blamed dude death on her. That’s how many people end up losing the one they love. Pointing fingers and blaming, rather than admitting they played a part as well.

🤔@1:36;15 “he didn’t realize what he’d become until he saw the reflection of himself in your eyes”.....how is that her problem/fault? Or was it that she looked at him with judgment & disbelief? Or is it that he didn’t like what he saw of himself so instead of changing, he felt no hope and decided to commit suicide? 😔

Why does this movie remind me of "Mahogany?" It was made in '75, this one in '79. Hmmm... I enjoyed it, nonetheless. Very good acting. It made me curious about Ms. Sharp, so I googled her. Thrilled to learn she's still alive, looking youthful, and doing well at 79-yrs.-old. Morgan Freeman was absolutely superb in this movie.
