It's also nuts that they are able to do that so early in the game. Like most other early game bosses are easy because you don't have that much skill/power/ability, yet Mantis Lords manage to be a fun challenge that makes you feel goated.
I stopped playing Hollow Knight because of that boss, after seeing Atrioc beat the game I didn’t want to be out-done by an old, one foot in the grave, receding hairline, wrinkly old boomer so I tried it again, played for 2,5 hours, got to the second phase like 5 times during that entire time and then ragequit the game. Coming back with the grindset soon though
@@erlandochoa8278 I found a way to skip the entire second phase, just use Spell Twister and Shaman Stone (and Nailmaster's Glory for the 1st phase). Don't use a single spell until you he spawns his second shield, then, *absolutely BLAST* him with Shade Soul while he's spinning his shields, kills him every time.
I’m so happy that the game is finally starting to get some big streamers/RU-vidrs playing it! I think it’s one of the greatest games I have ever played
I‘ve owned hollow knight for years, but never really got into it. Picked it up again because of atrioc and cannot put it down. I didn‘t watch the streams, just some of the videos here, so I‘m still mostly spoiler free regarding the lore and it‘s awesome. Such a beautiful game. Really glad I gave it another shot. Edit: And I definitely feel the same about the mantis lords fight. It‘s just difficult enough to be a real challenge without being frustrating.
You made me buy hollow knight. I loved your hollow knight streams, and when it went on sale on steam two days ago, i had to buy. Im really loving it so far
I’m legitimately at a loss for why they added him in as a boss. Not his normal version which is fine but his fucking ascended version is the dumbest piece of shit in the entire game by far.
Hay Atrioc! I just want to say that, because of you, I started playing Hollow Knight, and I got hooked. I mean 10 hours a day hooked. I have been playing for 4 days, and man. This Trial of Fools shit. haha. 6 hrs so far and have yet to beat it. Fuck i hate this trial of fools shit. But besides that it do be a cool game.
I don't think steel soul is particularly fun, but I HUGELY recommend doing an item randomizer, its super fun and really tests your abilities to problem solve
Atrioc inspired me to get back into Hollow Knight and I've been loving it, but HOLY SHIT Watcher Knights were the tensest thing EVER. The entire fight was so difficult that by the end I popped off so hard after I finally killed that last one. Best fight so far for me honestly.
ngl the amount of death's you had from acid pools I thought you weren't gonna stick with it. But you did and I am glad that you did cause HK is one of the best platformer game sick vid Big A.
Seeing how different people struggle on different things in this game is pretty funny. I first tried watcher nights without shadow dash or even knowing about the chandalier thing, but delete the game while struggling with the bee knight fight.
I have been facing Soul Tyrant for like 4 hours, basically going zero hits in the first phase for 10 minutes then dying on the second phase from orbs spawning on me.
:( was honestly the 3rd hardest boss for me in hall of gods. 2nd phase was really annoying and 1st phase is really long, tests patience. GOOD LUCK YOU WILL GET IT!
@@atrioc thanks big dawg, only downside to this game are those time consuming bosses but its probably good for pacing. I haven't been this invested in a game since I was a teenager, 10/10
i kinda like the whomegalul soul warrior because it has the same moves as the sisters of battle so its good practice for that edit: i just liked my own comment thinking it ws someone else's, i forgot i commented
A fun story about my experience with watcher knights: So I beat them like on my 2nd or 3rd time on my first playthrough, thanks to weaversong and wall clinging (I had pretty low equipment too), but I think that I got very very VERY lucky with rng that time, because once I tried again in the hall of gods and other playthroughs... it didn’t work once lol. Yeah... so that’s a strat I guess. But then I thought that they were super overrated because I beat them almost instantly, but I quickly found out that I just got lucky.
Maybe got a little lucky but also did things in a very different order than a lot of people. Most people don't tend to get lantern before Mantis Lords so they tend not to explore Deepnest until much later. The sort of 'standard' line would lead you right into West City of Tears and Watcher Knights after Mantis Lords. What I love about this game though is that everyone seems to have one or two bosses that they just struggle with while they easily beat bosses that other people scratch their head at. I got the hang of Mantis Lords really easy but I got wrecked by Soul Master easily a dozen times in my first playthrough and I know people who had exactly opposite experiences.
It looks really boring. When he was going on about how "It's one of the best designed fights in VG history. It looks so impressive" all I could think is how it's just another sidescroller boss fight we've been seeing for the past 30 years. What's so good about this game?
@@bruhmoment1835 creative world, fluid movement, character customization which really effects your playstyle, goated bosses, great music, its not just another sidescroller it is the pinnacle.
radiant markoth is the only radiant boss i havent beat, and the only one i will never beat because 1 more shiny statue doesnt feeel worth the pain, so i agree 100%
Once i figured out i could pogo my way through the 3rd phase of absolute radiance it became a goddamn cakewalk. Was a pleasure watching u go through this game tho, awesome stuff!
You believe Atrioc completed all encounters in Hall of Gods (HoG) on radiant off stream when he spent his prior 4 stream sessions struggling on Pantheon of Hollownest (PoH)? Atrioc streamed ~11 hours’ worth of attempts (I counted 12 total attempts) in 4 days. On his second to last stream you can see that he had not completed radiant Soul Tyrant or radiant Dung Defender. On his final stream when he completed PoH he said that the reason why he took longer to go live was because he was busy completing all the unfinished bosses on radiant off stream “all day today”. This is nonsense. Anyone who believes this lie likely has not attempted the more difficult radiant encounters in HoG or completed PoH with no bindings. Anyone who has completed both knows the vast difference in skill that is required between the two. There is zero chance he completed whatever he had not finished in HoG before his stream with his current skill, and it is not a coincidence that he chose not to complete HoG on stream but claims to have done so legitimately.

I think it really speaks to Hollow Knights quality that people rank the bosses so similarly. No matter your skill or playstyle, the bosses that are good and hype are good and hype universally.
Atrioc you should consider playing dark souls on stream if you liked the difficulty of hollow knight, where it’s your fault every time you die and super satisfying to beat a boss
Some bosses I really like: Traitor lord is incredible environment storytelling. Uumuu in the Hall of Gods/Pantheons is a pretty good boss IMO. But I can see why others don’t like him. False knight is one of my favorites because of where you are in the game when you fight him. It’s something I look forward to every time I replay, just to see how much better I am now than I was before. It’s a reminder of how far I’ve come. Radiance = D for me. I’ve never beaten Abs Rad because I never made it to the end of Pantheon of Hallownest (I hate pantheon 5, because it’s just pantheon 4 but you need to wait 40 minutes between attempts and then get your ass kicked at the end) I think regular Radiance is a repetitive boss whose only variety comes from RNG teleportation. It’s a cool event, not a cool boss. Grimm is repetitive as fuck. Cool the first time. Boring after. And they make you fight him before Pure Vessel and Abs Rad every time.
Zote is such a goated character. Very underrated imo and one of my favorites. I wish the Hollow Knight Kickstarter got funded a bit more so we could have that Zote game. Would've loved to see how that would've turned out
I stopped playing the game after mantis lord I was bored then went “if this is what the bosses are like I’m not gonna finish this” started playing it again cause of you and I still stand with my opinion rest of the bosses you thought were good I agree with
Big A! You should do some videos with some other creators from the hollow knight community. Maybe some speed runners! It would be awesome too if you guys figured out a bros vs pros in hollow knight.
The tier list is super good, besides the fact that zote (the actual boss) is my least favorite boss in video game history. I hate him with a burning passion, and for some reason I had more trouble beating him than any other boss in pantheon.
