god i remember listening to NL in 2017 and going "yeah his voice is totally different from when i first found him in 2013" now im listening to NL in 2021 and going "yeah his voice is totally different from when i watched this in 2017"
cbb88dragonborn Nick played it and he's uploading it. He's also actually good at Metroidvania games, and gives a lot of insightful commentary on the gameplay.
NL, this game is long and hard as balls. Lots of dead ends as well. (I wonder if those will be edited out. Maybe not. >_< )Best of luck, mate. *cheers on the sidelines*
I like how Northernlion complains about how this game is so easy. I hope when he starts doing Dreamnail boss fights, he can remember complaining about how the game feels super-easy.
Yeaaa.... I literally went to a section for like 4 times without a map trying to find out what do I even have to do next. More leniant fast travel would have been nice.
Great start to the series NL! I'm glad you decided to try it out. I wouldn't worry about 112% as it's very, very, very hard and isn't necessary for an enjoyable playthrough. I liked your early analysis of the game early, especially your connecting it to Dark Souls and Lovecraft. Pogs up!
29:55 You mention getting a cache of ammo or supplies as a clue to their being a boss fight soon. Back when Half Life 2 was popular, I remember a show on G4 referring to this as "Goreshadowing" which HL2 had a bit of.
I'm a new NL fan who checked to see if he'd done HK after he mentioned SS in the latest Isaac ep and... Young pre-dad (and pandemic) egg voice! What a delight!
Loving the art style! Thanks for jumping into Hollow Knight, I am looking forward to binging the series seeing as I'm 14 episodes behind at this point!
i gotta say, this is my first time watching a playthrough (or at least i hope he finishes it) of NL, and its really chill, i dunno, maybe its just me since im a newcomer, ive already watched his content in and out, like isac, and blood bowl, just never an actual series, but anyway, so far so good, i like it ^^ hope this gets finished
I don't think anyone has said it, but you actually CAN get past those spikes. "Sword Hopping" over the spikes works. No spoilers on what lies past those spikes though.
I'm at 3/5 of the game more or less to 100% (it's a guessing) and I can tell, this is a solid metroidvania experience. Puzzle rooms, tons of secrets (I mean tons, almost every other room), charming views, well-paced and intriguing story, perfect difficulty curve... and the most adorable bug characters ever *__* Even the enemies are nice in this art style, everything painted, sprite by sprite, by hand. Just a ridiculous experience and probably even a firm candidate for "game of the year", not to say it goes up as one of the best metroidvania experiences ever done.
I'm like 3/5 to 100% (it's a guess) and 15 hours in, but I can say just now this goes GOTY for me, no doubt. I even picked Hollow Knight instead of Nier: Automata, and I didn't know almost anything about it except from a let's play of Two Best Friends Play, even forced myself to not watch the trailers when I realized this was a big thing, i read some comments on steam about the game and I needed no more, best decision I could have taken .
I was going to save this until I finished Hollow Knight myself, but given that it's been a year... well. I'll start watching now and try to get back into playing again. And if I get to parts in the LP that I haven't played myself yet, I'll stop there until I manage to play them myself.
I’d love to watch him play Ori and he Blind Forest. So far this game seems similar, but the artistic quality of Ori is truly breathtaking. The gameplay is also quite intense
NL I'm glad to hear that your not averse to possibly doing another rimworld play. The game has really made leaps and bounds with alpha 16, and I think you'd really like the new trade mechanics. Just something to think about.
Quick tip NL: The game's storytelling is similar to Darksoul so talk to t he NPC more than 1, they give good advises on where to go and cool world building. You also need the Quill ASAP.
Haha "This is like an actual town populated by people or elderbugs" "Hey traveler, i am the only one left, all the other villagers disappeared" ... classic NL timing
I pray everyday for you to play Enter the Gungeon again since there's the new supply drop patch. I liked your gameplays and there's lot of new stuff added. But as a good viewer, i'm not gonna' hate you if you don't. Nice video btw. =)
I love how the character Quirrel, by the large stone egg, has a mask on the back/top of his head that looked like a face. Reference to Harry Potter anyone?
If I had to guess I'd say this LP is going to be an any% speedrun without the actual speedrun part, so basically watching eggdaddy getting lost, missing 90% of the game and then either dropping it or looking up where the final boss is I'm looking foward to the salt in the comments
