Thanks for reviewing the motor! Glad you like it as much as we do! I spent over a year engineering the stator and rotor combo to make it smooth, powerful, and efficient at all speeds.
Its an excellent motor for sure and I'm not done with the videos with it, I also have one with it in the Redcat Gen8 and have plans for a lot more as time allows
5:08 is a perfect shot of smooth crawling into tons of wheelspeed! That's what I strive for with design, keeping extremely smooth low speed control with crazy wheelspeed on tap if wanted. The lower KVs drive even smoother.
HolmesHobbies how’s the drag break work on this with the right ESC. Wanting to try out some brushless. Have a ton of RC crawlers and only on brushless motor and that came in my RYR Axe Edition. Gonnna go with your product just not to sure of what I’m needing. My trucks weigh a ton do to the fact I don’t let them go unupgraded if that’s even a word lol
Great video once again! And thank you for not adding stupid music to it. I wanted to hear for cog, in this case there lack of. Good job to you and Holmes!
I was just complaining to Holmes last night on a Facebook question he asked. About the lack of decent videos highlighting his Motors without crappy music or run through some kind of gearbox.
Thinking of trying this set up in my TRX4 1979 ford bronco appreciate you sharing, what a awesome spot you have to go crawling for sure i'll be watching for more
It absolutely IS! I haven't been able to get anything for awhile, obviously... But I have a 4 year old, HH TorqueMaster 30 Turn Handwound.... I've put new Brushes in it twice, and it hasn't needed ANYTHING else!!
So...John redesigned the XL. I had a 1st-gen XL(with the 5mm shaft) and it was insanely powerful but it had crappy start-up and the shaft was REALLY hard to turn by hand. It wasn't a rock crawler motor....it was for rock racing....it said also said so in the description of the motor on the website. If you took the a Rock 412 , Castle and a Puller Pro of the same size apart...you'd find the rotor/magnet inside the Holmes motor to be bigger. John fits a bigger/stronger rotor the way they are designed...and just better overall/quality parts. Oh...you need to turn-up your drag-brake. lol
good way to identify if its not on the box or on the can, if it is an L or XL, nearly identical in size to a 550. Might be easy to turn with no power, but when the fields get electric in them.. omg. I do find the HH motors to have a noticeable increase of torque and smooooth. Even the 540L 4100kv that is supposed to be a rock racer motor on sensored its still not too bad at low speed, much better than the cogging I get out of the Velineon's.
If I’m running a mamba X esc what HH motor would you say will work best with it? I’m looking to do slow crawling, don’t need much speed. I’ll also be running 3s. Thanks !
Since Ive been in the hobby I've been leaning towards HH all his motors are affordable and explained so well. Ya cant beat it. I noticed the KV was pretty high you you recommend turning it down some? The link has it at 2100 KV. Any help would be nice thx for this video it displayed the Puller beautifully. This will be my first brushless set up as well.👍👍👍👍☠🤘🎃🎃
I didn't know that it would look similar to a HW when I redesigned the can. Totally different motors though, just look similar now. Boo to that, but I think it looks sweet anyway.
I have a 10.6 lb Gen 8 would you recommend this Puller Pro 3500kv size motor or a different kv? I get confused with the KV's between brushed & brushless? also what size Pinion do you think would work best, I believe the Scout ii has a 17T currently? Thanks so much
Well I would be surprised if it was sensored and it cogged? The whole idea of sensored systems is TO eliminate cogging. But sure I guess, Its awesome that it does not cog.
Nice video...just want to ask if this motor compatible to rr10 bomber? Planning to get HW quickrun 1080 wp any brushed motor with good low speed and smooth crawling you can advice for me? Thanks...
This motor is brushless and for a bomber I’d highly recommend this motor with castle mamba x esc. If you must stay brushed the the 1080 and a Holmes 21t Trailmaster Sport 550 would be my choice
I have a question about the pan hard bar set up on the front vs 4 link on the rear. Do you think there would be a downside to running 4 link on the front and have it set up just like the rear on your truck? I am currently designing a new lower plate that would let me run 4 link front and rear but I am going to have to basically re design the entire front end of my TRX-4 to do so and was wondering if you had any advise or ideas that would assist?
TBone I prefer the 4-link front and servo on Axle. You should see my Grimlock 3 build series where I put a 4-link front and servo on axle using 1tenth RC servo mounts. It’s PT3 of the build.
Was it smoother then the train I have both takin the new water proof one and Holmes pp and it’s a really close call and the tekin is the 3100 kv and pp is 3500kv love both was just wondering your thoughts on the comparison great video as always keep em commig
You’re hearing the PWM of the castle esc. The motor can be as quiet as anything if I could turn up the PWM but it can’t be done on the castle esc. It sounds worse in video than it does in person or with a group of guys.
@@ExocagedRC sure would be nice, if memory serves me correctly believe I can even adjust the PWM on my Hw 1080 w/ the program card.. come on already Castle !!! lol
