I feel like with this episode Chibnall was just trying to use as many fan-service references and characters as he could so that RTD can't use them in the 60th anniversary

A 32-year-old man charged with murdering a pregnant woman in Lurgan staged an online gaming stream the night she was killed, a court has heard. Natalie McNally, also 32, was 15 weeks pregnant when she was stabbed on 18 December at her Silverwood Green home. Stephen McCullagh, of Woodland Gardens in Lisburn, was charged on Thursday. He did not speak during his appearance via videolink at Lisburn Magistrates' Court. The court heard that Mr McCullagh, who has a RU-vid channel, staged a live broadcast on the night of the murder, with footage appearing to show him playing the video game Grand Theft Auto for six hours. It was told the defendant was initially arrested in the wake of the murder but then ruled out as a suspect on the basis of the alleged livestream alibi.

Another problem I had with this episode is a the Master killed the Time Lords because their lie lead to a piece of the Doctor always being inside him, so why would he want to literally become the Doctor in every sense?

To me, this is the new who equivalent of The Five Doctors. Just something so unashamedly fan w*nky that you can’t help but love it despite its story problems.

I like that they brought David tenant I’d back and I think the 60th will be great with Neil Patrick Harris, it’s good to restart the show and give it a new lease of life before Ncuti Gatwa takes over. This laying the groundwork for a fresh start.

I think RTD made a good decision and while yes I think he brought Tennant back for views Bringing in a new Doctor during the 60th year probably isn't the best thing to do This is the best kick-starter for a new era and I think it'll be fantastic

The Chibbers era has been a mess, the main reason i kept watching was so i can watch these reviews! hoping russell can return the show to being worth watching, doesn't even have to be great, but hes got a big job, because if he cant fix it, i dont know if the show recovers!

I think it would have been a great idea for The Doctor to then have the master's body and then regenerate, therfore having a normal amount of regenerations again, therefore undoing the infinite life of the Timeless Child

To add to the psychic circuits this could’ve led to Yaz finding the doctor but from a different era, so she’d be like bring me to the doctor and the Tardis takes her to David tennant or maybe Ncuti or to Paul McGann

i saw a comment somehere where chibnal tried to make this episode very fan-servicy because the fact there was no actors to play the doctor, so he thought it would be the final doctor who episode ever.

Davies was a fantastic show runner. He will bring the show back to greatness. I also feel David will bring back Torchwood.

I think they had to bring tennant back for the anniversary. They had to somewhat reboot it for the new era under RTD again. The mass crowds stopped watching after Tennant/Smith left. They needed to get the big audiences back before the proper new season with Ncuti and the best way to do it is a bit of fan service with a much loved actor whom people trust. They couldn't have just gone from Jodi to Ncuti. This era has been awful so it wouldn't have gathered the audience they needed to make it a proper big show again

I shit you not, when they introduced tegan and ace again, my parents were cheering on ace, bit didn't have a clue who tegan was. Lmao

Honestly i think it would have been better If the reason the doctor regenerated because of the master stealing her body when she switches back it begins her regeneration

My thoughts on the episode... Dan: Why was he even in this series. He doesn't do anything, he's barely been introduced durring the Flux, then he just F's off at the beginning of this episode, what was even the point of him? You could write him out of the entire series and you would miss NOTHING! Sasha as the Master, the first few times we saw him he felt a little too much like John Simm's Master but he really shines here and makes the role his own. I never thought he was bad but I loved him more in this episode than his other appearances. And I'm kind of questioning because technically the Doctor did regenerate into Sasha's Master so technically he's 14, then back into Jodie making her 15, and then into David Tennant making him 16, so the announcement about what's his face being the 14th Doctor was all a big lie. There was a lot of fan wank in this episode there were some great moments with the returning Doctors and companions, I freaking love how the Master's costume as the Doctor is just made up of all the most iconic bits of old costumes. But here's the thing as much as I liked all that nerdy fan wank stuff I also recognized they're banking on the nostagia and member berries from that to cover up the fact that the entire plot to this episode doesn't make any f-ing sense. I also hated the regeneration mostly because the cloths changed. Even when she regenerated into the Master they put Sasha in Jodie's costume before he changed into another costume. Where the heck did the cloths come from? They didn't even have the guts to put David in Jodie's costume because fans hated it, they had to put him in his own cloths straight away. Honestly I was all for this episode till that happened. I was expecting David would just be back as 10 for the 60th but when I saw that moment that's when it hit me, the reason there's so much fan wank is because they're desparatly trying to win back the old fan base. It's still the same terrible writing that has plagued the Chibnal erra it's just terrible writing sugar coated in nostagic call backs. By the way... I also love that Ace mentioned the Master being half cat last time she saw him but there's still explination how he was ever cured of the Cheetah Virus it's just an off handed reference that they don't do anything with.

i quite like how the story came together to make some sort of sense before RTD took over again.

Always a joy to see you legends back at the table this story was a little all over the place some things never got properly explained but it was a huge fan service to all us Whovians Tegan and Ace were amazing as ever loved seeing 1, 5, 6, 7, and 8 back and seeing Tegan and 5 reconnect as well as Ace and 7 glad Graham came back wish he had more time the bit with him and Ace and the psychic paper reminded me of when Capt Jack tried it on Rose and failed and the support group seeing Yaz Dan and Graham meeting Ace Mel Tegan Jo and even Ian I wonder was the empty chair to represent the companions lost or on other universes like Adric Sarah Jane Rose Amy and Rory I do feel the Daleks and Cybermen were underused but the Master was magnificent as always I loved when he became the Doctor he made a mixed costume with 4s scarf, 5s celery stick 7s question mark jumper and 13s jacket it will be a cosplayers dream am excited to se 10 again but do wonder did the Celestial Toymaker interfere with the regeneration speaking of I do wonder why did the clothes change that is a true first for regeneration all in all 8/10 for me

Best thing I can say about this episode is that wasn't looking at the clock whilst it was on unlike a lot of Chibnall who ,but glad he and Whittaker are gone

Finally got around to seeing episode and I had to come to this review first. Just have to say I fucking died at 59:55 when I saw the David head on the Jodie figure. Really summarised how shoehorned in this regeneration felt. Regardless, here's to the 60th and the hope that RTD saves the show.

For me it felt like the nothing happened too quickly. Dan and yaz left so quickly that It didn't have any affect on me, and i really enjoyed Dans character. However it was a pretty fun episode and David returning at the end was amazing. 8/10 From me.
