One of my favorite George Harrison songs. And a killer bass line and guitar solo from Sir Paul.❤

The Earth Wind And Fire version is, in my opinion, one of the only two Beatles covers that is better than the original ...that and maybe Joe Cocker's With A Little Help From My Friends.
@Kathmak
@Kathmak 12 дней назад
@@tonycasey3183 Respectfully disagree. I love the original so so much. Far superior.

Don't get me wrong, I am a massive Beatles fan and I find most covers of Beatles tunes a poor copy. The EWaF version of Got To Get You Into My Life is the version The Beatles would have done if they had thought of it. It is also the ONLY good thing that came out of The Bee Gees Sgt Pepper movie. But, hey. we all have different tastes.

Even more true today than it was 60 years ago. A banger about taxes!!!
@papercup2517
@papercup2517 12 дней назад
It was about George finding he was in the UK's 'super-tax' bracket in which 95% of his income went to the tax office, leaving just 5% for him. I don't think it exists any more in Britain and pretty sure there's nothing like it in the US currently. This was just for the very wealthiest in society - but since the Beatles had only just entered that exalted sphere, having come from relatively poor, working class backgrounds, it was all a bit of a shock for them, and didn't seem fair when they had worked so hard for so long to get to where they were.

Stan, you know that Sir Paul is certainly at least one of the greatest bass players of all time. And when he does that work with the Beatles, it's absolutely irresistable!

You have wonderful ears and insight sir. Love this one from George. I always appreciate the adage that George had the grand misfortune of being a great songwriter in a band with the two best. RIP Soul-of-the-Beatles.
@martinrenzhofer8241
@martinrenzhofer8241 12 дней назад
I never considered that a misfortune. He didn't consider writing a song before joining the band, then was fortunate enough to attend a masterclass of songwriting. As the Get Back doc revealed, the Beatles helped each other on songs. George wrote his best stuff as a member of the band or immediately following the breakup.

You feel Ringo, huh? He's not flashy, but he's a legendary "playing in the pocket" drummer. He always knows just a little part that will fit into the song in such a tasty way!

The fiery lead guitar is Paul! Not a bad lead guitarist, is he? And he plays it with a vaguely Indian sound to this lead part. Fabulous Paul McCartney lead guitar piece, normally done by George, who sings lead here and who wrote this song, "with a little help from his friends".

From my 2nd favorite Beatles album. This song came out of the fact that, after a certain amount of earnings, they were paying 95% of their income to the UK government. Apparently they weren't too pleased about that. 🙂 My favorite line is at the end - "My advice for those who die... declare the pennies on your eyes". Ouch!

Paul played the guitar solo. He has a distinctive style on lead guitar that sounds rushed but he's a great musician.

just another day AND another GREAT song from the Beatles. They would usually give George a song or sometimes two per album and they were never a disappointment. I've been listening to these guys since the 60s and their music is still extremely unique. That's one of the reasons it stands the test of time and never ceases to amaze me.

Had he been in any other group of the period he'd have had MANY songs on each album, but that's the price you pay for being in a band with Paul McCartney and John Lennon!

The Beatles have been such a significant part of my life, throughout my life. My world view would be radically different than it is now. So much more black and white. They brought the kind of color and meaning I so desperately wanted and need. Whenever I see a homeless person or a person alone, I think of Eleanor Rigby...Look at all the lonely people... Thanks guys. ❤

Extra points is the Beatles Official Video of "Old Brown Shoe" which has truly the 5th Beatle, the only man to be a member of first the Beatles, then the Stones, the legendary Billy Preston, "The Hero of Get Back". John wanted him in the Beatles; Paul pushed back against the idea. But you should see the phenomenon that was Billy Preston when he joins the Beatles in recording both the Get Back sessions (to be come the "Let it Be" album), and Abbey Road, where Billy contributed some beautiful synthesizer work on George's monster Beatles song, "Here Comes the Sun".
@thomastimlin1724

Sorry but producer sir George Martin is the fifth Beatle, by rights of longevity and more participation, stuck with them all the way through, and participated in enabling their creativeness. Most producers would not have done that. Preston was a guest artist on the last two albums, a great musician, but hardly participated like Martin did in the full Beatles journey and creativeness.
@DJBilodeau
@DJBilodeau 7 дней назад
@@thomastimlin1724 I think that argument has the merit of logic to it! I think your perception lays it out well as to the correct way to think about all of these complicated, collaborative relationship within the Beatles. One of the reasons I am now more open to this argument is when I found out that George Martin was playing the piano line on "Getting Better". Blew my mind when I learned that! Of course, his merits go far beyond a performance on a single song. George Martin, at least initially, was fundamental to their development and evolution as a band. That says a lot.

Most groups look for their sound, the Beatles seamed to say OK we did that what can we do now just to go to the next level. Never get the same old thing, always looking to give some thing different. That's what makes them the GOAT.

The guitar solo on Taxman was also the guitar solo on another Revolver song "Tomorrow Never Knows" only played backwards! Tomorrow is well worth a reaction video as it is the Beatles most psychedelic and experimental song; also my favorite if forced to pick.

Do "Old Brown Shoe" by the Beatles! Another George Harrison song, totally dope, and so different again from anything you've ever heard by the Beatles! Although it seems like we could say that about any track!

Agree with "Got to Get You into my Life" next, with lots of thumbs up below. Beyond that, the Abbey Road medley starting with "You Never give me your money" to "The End" is an absolute can't miss (even though John disagreed}.

Bass also Paul. They would have overdubbed Paul doing the lead guitar as well. But that's definitely a Paul McCartney bassline special right there for that song!

Funny how people question how basic these guys are but they're not basic they have done and created some of the toughest music to redo even when people redo it like the rolling Stones are done and the who have done Beatles songs they don't sound as good in quality and that shows me that these Beatles are way more talented than these guys have come up and say they're tougher better know they're not they're just not I've known that because when I have heard and seeing live there remix of or covers a Beatles song terrible and muddy.
