Another "Development" moment where we move to a common place with kit saws...muffler mods. And again discover where the holes or the potential issue are with lower quality bits and pieces. In this case the muffler mounting bolts. SO the "list" of parts required to turn this into an actually "work" ready saw is beginning to grow with implications it might grow more yet. SO far a piston was required. Farmertec claims that the piston I pulled out of this one should be a rare event and as the saw production "matures" a non event. As with any product, there is a development process NOT just for the machine but also the supply chain and manufacturing process. This is NOT unique to the "Blue" saws as most who are anti everything from China, but common to ANY manufactured machine as Husqvarna found out with the very mature 562's when a supplier provided less than to Husqvarna spec bearing. Of course both companies moved quickly to eliminate that as an issue. ONE immediately, the other after a bunch of warranty issue popped up with PTO side seals failing traced back to the bearing manufacturer. So no company is immune. And both companies responded to support their product and customers.
ALSO begin to discuss the "Whole Saw Setup" concept where it's the entire package from power head to bar & chain that comprises a good working tool. ALSO the requirements change as the definition of WIN changes with situations. I guess this is a response to the tendency of strong online personalities with authority saying "THIS is the ONLY right way" to a setup or even brand, often supported with a series of cookie cuts as evidence. I find that a bit annoying as there isn't a "one size fits all" solution to anything in humanity. And I have more faith in people, there are NO shortage of smart and talented people anywhere in the world. Something i learned when in another "world travelling" career. So rather than have a condescending " This is the way things are done" approach I from the heart choose "this is what I do" approach assuming most out there have built systems equally effective with he things available to them in their situations. With humility. As there is little chance I can see all the situations within the saw community and certainly little chance I'm going to add much to the working knowledge of said "smart" folks living their world and situations. Conversely I can learn a lot. It's more fun learning anyway.....back the core of this VIDEO! Picking thru a "Blue" underdog and learning what makes it tick to develop a plan to make it fit my saw situations & to beat the odds :) A part of me hopes more take these on like with the 660's and a community of builders push the limits, more than one set of eyes and experiences. And like the 660's end up with a combined effort that was a success in many situations.
