I've never seen a grown man sell candy door to door before.

and this is why people no longer open doors. It’s sad that if someone may need some type of help, they will now be ignored out of fear

My grandfather used to tell the kids in the neighborhood if y’all got enough time to plan a robbery and execute a robbery then you got time to get a job and do something more productive with your life.

Never open your door to people you don't know even if it is to sell you candy or maintenance workers that you don't know or asked to service your home! Always be vigilant at all times even in public places and your own driveway.

This is sickening. No one should take advantage of the elderly or others in general. It’s a shame to see people resort to the bottom. I’m glad camera’s caught all of this. Still horrifying. A friend, her 7 yr old son, & grandma experience this back in 2010. I can’t even imagine.

A few years ago, two guys came to my house claiming to be window installers offering a free quote. I answered through my ring camera and asked what company were they from. I looked up the name they gave me and nothing came up. I told them I wasn't interested, but they were being persistent. I then said if you don't leave, I'm calling the police. They also had this unmarked van they pulled up in. I would've never opened the door for this guy.

This is terrifying. The ONLY time I'll EVER open my door, is if I've ordered food, thats it. A similar thing happened to me in 2014, so I make sure if anyone is visiting to call once they're here.

Imagine bursting in to a house holding a dude at gunpoint and then only taking his phone and keys way to ruin your life over literaly nothing

And this is why even as a grown up you should always be wary. People say " Oh you're too paranoid, oh you don't have any heart to open your door to someone who just wants to sell this or that or something " damn right I am heartless, even if it means keeping me and my family safe I will continue to do so.

I’m mostly worried for the older folks who haven’t realized how badly society has changed over the years. My parents still open the door when there’s a knock or, worse, leave the door unlocked. The world used to be so much safer.

It takes a whole different level of scumbag to attack someone where they’re supposed to feel safest, IN THEIR OWN HOME.

I remember when i was a kid my mom said a cop came to our house and looked through the window and yelled open the door. They were authentic cops, but it’s scary how anyone can put on a fake costume and come to someone’s house.

Buy your candy from the store. Having a GROWN man selling candy door to door is sketchy enough. Hopefully they find these horrible human beings and throw them in prison.

Why can’t these criminals just work as we normally all do to provide for ourselves? I don’t think there’s anything else these people CAN NOT DO to satisfy themselves with other people’s belongings. He should be held accountable for this elaborate evil scheme.

I don't get how in the last situation they entered a home only to leave with house keys and a phone. All that to rob a person of a few items, just disgusting.

Something about the way this guy walks away calmly makes me so angry. Like the woman trusted you and gave you cash, and yet that wasn't enough or something...idk..Such evil it makes it hard to feel sympathy if he gets shot dead by an armed civilian. It's not even worth it.

This is why I don't answer my door for nobody! You can't trust anyone. I feel so bad for the victims.

This just shows not to trust anybody at your door regardless if it’s a child selling candy, or a man, or even a women crying for help. Stay safe everyone, and don’t open your door for anyone only those that you trust and know.

I consider myself so lucky to have a front facing balcony that my family always goes out on to see who’s at the door we never EVER open the door for strangers and keep it locked 24/7/365 One time when I was 7-8 years old there was a man going to every house on my block and jiggling the door handle then knocking on the door. He did it to our house and said he was from an energy company and needed to check our furnace inside the house. He was wearing nothing other than baggy homeless looking clothes. My mom said he’d have to wait until my father got home. He kept trying to convince us. My mom told him to get off our property and we called the police. He was arrested at my neighbors front door. Sick disgusting people.

Actually had a terrible feeling about someone talking about solar panel installation. Three men were right behind him. I had my guard up the whole time and never fully opened the door up and was aggressive in my tone of voice because I was angry atm but just kinda annoyed three men were all at the door. The guys seemed very nervous and one of them kept looking around, maybe for neighbors around. I was told I was being rude by my partner but I could feel something was way off from the other guys expressions and how they just were there while the dude kept trying to talk to me about solar panels and was overly friendly and smiley about it. Just don’t open the door if your gut feels off in any way because I was kinda rude and slammed and locked the door in their face telling them to please leave now.. they left in quite a hurry. The guys were all white males. Wearing badly made solar panel white t-shirts and one with had a full black hoodie on as well. One was blonde and blue eyed, the other two had brown hair. Couldn’t see their eyes. All of them about 6 ft but I’m kinda small so I’m just guessing. The dude talking looked the most normal and sounded friendly but again, I felt something was kinda odd or off about the way he talked nervously with his laughter... Just Be careful everyone. I could have easily opened the door being friendly and them over powering me and getting away with who knows what.. I’m just glad I listened to my gut and closed and locked the door.

I can’t help but notice that these guys targeted people that appear to live in a subdivision or some type of suburb. Maybe it’s because I’ve been living in a large city/urban area, but people in the city don’t even bother coming to the door when someone knocks. It’s almost like a rule of thumb, “if you’re not expecting someone, don’t answer the door period”.

Another reason I love my doorbell system. “No, thank you. But smile, you’re on camera.”

Usually when someone knocks on my door, I'm ready to fight because I'm never expecting company.

This is why me and my family completely ignore people, selling things at the door or not. We don't trust anyone that is a stranger.

This happened to me! I’m from New Zealand and a bunch of these guys were knocking in my door and looking at me through the window to see if anybody was home, they saw me and showed me a box of candy. I was babysitting my little brother and he said he wanted the candy! I knew they were danger so I hid my little brother, grabbed my phone and called my mum, when they looked in the window again, they saw me calling someone. That’s when they went away. I did get my little brother candy after that so don’t worry! ❤ hopefully this type of stuff doesn’t happen to any of you! Stay safe! ❤

I had a metal security screen door installed, So I can open my main front door -yet there is a super strong screen mesh wire door with bars between me and the outsider. Handle locks as well as an additional dead bolt. Home Depot sells all types of these doors for around $119. Great protection. They won't get past that. Plus you can leave your front door open in good weather and mosquitoes will not get through the fine metal mesh on the door. Well worth the money. I also installed one on my rental property to ensure my Tennant's safety.

This is why I never understand why people don’t have a storm door on their front door. It’s an extra layer of protection between you and the person outside. Once you open your door and there is nothing between you and the other person, you’re in trouble. If I didn’t invite someone over and if I had no way to see who was outside, then I’m not opening the door. It really comes down to common sense. These thieves make my blood boil. Why not get a JOB like the rest of us do and actually go BUY the things you want? 🤦🏻‍♀️

I would always think my grandma over exaggerated when she would yell at us to get out of the door when somebody knocked the door , but she was so right! I have two toddlers now and I make sure that they're out of the way when I need to open the door.

I would not buy candy from a grown man without asking some very specific questions first. I hope they all get caught and not offered a 'sweet' plea deal from the prosecuting attorney when facing charges.

I'm annoyed as hell when "these door to door sellers" come knocking. My response in a rude as tone, " not interested". Idc if they're legit or not. If I want something, I'll go looking for it. I don't need anyone come knocking unexpectedly.

An adult selling candy door to door is already suspicious

1. Buy a Chain lock and other things you can install to ensure door can’t be easily broken in ( dead bolt). Don’t unchain the chain lock when you answer the door, this gives you an advantage if you want to close the door (slam their hand), or if not- gives you time to run. 2. Answer the door while on the phone 3. Don’t ever be afraid of seeming rude 4. When you answer the door, make it seem like there’s others around. “I’m getting the door!!)

This is stuff that has been going down in South Africa for years - people posing as municipality workers to gain access to your home. So sad to see it is happening in other countries now too. Thank goodness no one lost their lives.

When I was about 15, 16 years old! My grandmother always told me, don't open the door for nobody unless its me or someone you truly know! IDC if someone's hair was on fire, drop and roll! You do not open the door for nooooobody! I thought, of grandma! You're being to paranoid!!! Well, today as a 38 year old man! Safe to say, she knew what she was talking about!!! Thank you mama! This has been happening for years. When I used to live in Sacramento, California they use a crying women who would knock on your door late at night.

Seriously, don’t open your door for anyone you don’t know well. Talk through the door or sneek a peek & don’t answer at all if you’re uncomfortable. Keep your doors locked at all times, unless you have a protector, be it firearm, big dog or man. Even then…too bad it has to be this way. I’m even more paranoid after watching many episodes of Forensic Files!

A family friend had his home invaded. He's a dog trainer. Intruders were met by 3 angry malois. Let's just say the intruders won't be able to hold/grab things for a long while.

This is why I NEVER answer the door to anyone. I have two doors, a regular wood interior door and a metal screen door. If someone knocks I only open the wooden one & leave the metal locked & closed

If someone knocks on my door and I don’t know them or I’m not expecting them, I _don’t_ open it. They can state their business to me behind the door if it’s important. (Which it never is) And I have a no solicitors sign, they often ignore it, but I always say, “no thank you, we’re good.” I have a tough, steel screen door that you can’t easily bust into as well. My dogs bark their heads off when anyone comes to the door, that helps, too.

Terrifying. Feeling thankful my mum always taught me to put the security chain across as soon as I enter the house, and to only take it off if I was leaving the house.
