I decided to see if it's possible to build my own scanner bar for my KARR replica using parts available on Amazon during the COVID-19 Lockdown in the UK.
Mine too, I've had it longer than I've had my Pontiac! It's a shame to butcher it, but upgrading the scanner with better bulbs is something I've wanted to do to it for years, and I made a lot of progress with that last night. Video to follow 😎
A friend of mine sent me pictures of his Joe Huth scanner bar. I just copied the angle from that, though if you've got you car handy, just copy the angle directly above the scanner area on the hood 👍
Hi JB wow im so happy I came across your channel :) can I please ask where to get the JC Whitney Knight Rider Scanner . Im in the UK and can not find it anywhere. a huge thanks and fantastic work !!
I'm UK based too. I actually bought it from a friend at a Knight Rider meet/convention way back in 2007. I dont think they were sold in the UK, so you might need to try and get lucky on ebay US or the UK Knight Rider groups on Facebook.
@@JBandMachine wow thanks for such a quick reply. Whew 90s ... no wonder they are so hard to get . Thank you so much for trying to help I shall keep an eye open but I will definitely be following along on this video and I'm excited to check out your other ones :) . Huge thank you sir :)
Red plexiglass is what you would be looking for! That's actually the one bit I didn't buy as a friend of mine had gave me his old KARR lens. You might need to buy a sheet and cut it down to size, then with a little heat add the bend in the middle 👍
@@Michael_Killner_Davies I haven't created a list of links because they will inevitably change/expire but its all pretty basic stuff. The largest sheets of metal you can grab on amazon. Tin snips Epoxy putty Then if you're going on to upgrade an old LED scanner you would need 8 12v relays and some wire and spades
@@JBandMachine hi JB , so sorry I thought the question was going to the other guy as I was shy to ask you another question . What sort of thickness metal (and was it galvanised metal) should I be looking at ,as I see you was able to cut it . Thanks again
