Even though I'm sure your main thought creating this content isn't on being a role model, I would definitely consider you one. A seriously great role model for women to go after their dreams, work hard for them and not be afraid to take on things that aren't necessarily conventional for women.
I think we all love that this series isn’t a quick over-produced show that has a secret team behind the scenes doing everything. This is amazing content and I’m so proud of you for going for you dreams!! I hope ALL young people watching remember that saving when you’re young is key to fulfilling your future dreams🥰
Totally this! 💯 But there’s also a big part of me that kind of wishes MaCenna would hire an editor to help work on video production, especially when she’s so flat out working on renovations! Not because she isn’t doing an amazing job (or that I don’t love seeing how much she accomplishes by herself! 😍), but to give a bit of breathing room to focus on the things only she can do (though I can appreciate there must be an adjustment period for something like this, where it actually ends up being more work to be training someone up to work with you instead of just doing it yourself!). I feel so completely exhausted just sitting here watching and knowing how much work must go into everything, so for the 2p of this one random subscriber MaCenna, I hope you at least have this idea in the back of your mind as an option if it all gets to be too much, and that there’s absolutely no shame in delegating some tasks if you need to! ❤️
My husband and I renovated a 400 year old farmhouse in Wales, it was extremely hard work but also really satisfying to turn something old and derelict into a beautiful family home 😊
It was awful at times ,we had an asbestos roof that had to be removed and replaced. I remember having buckets all over the place to catch water leaking in cause it rains a lot in Wales! We had to live downstairs as upstairs was virtually derelict. It was incredibly hard work, but also kind of fun lol
@@ittybittyADHDcommittee And after five long years of hard work we sold it and started renovating the house we’re in now, some people are just suckers for punishment aren’t they lol 😆
Am I the only one that thinks MaCenna looks like a sibling to all the Olson sisters?? Also, I am really loving this series! And there's no way you're 32. You're gorgeous and your positivity is amazing.
thank you for being so open about the budget!! It's really difficult to learn and research about projects like this when people are so private about costs
Good lord after all this work and attention to detail I can’t believe you aren’t making this your full time residence 😱 the plans and renderings look absolutely beautiful, if I put this much time money and effort into a house I would want to spend every waking minute appreciating my work 🥰
@@XOMaCenna. As I was watching your Mom struggle/laugh at her wheel barrow adventure, all I could think of was the amazing memories that you are making with your Mom, Dad and Romeo. After losing my most amazing mom-in-law a few years back, these memories are ones that with last you a lifetime and then some. ❤️❤️
"I used to run marathons, what's wrong with me?" MaCenna!!!! This IS your marathon! You keep on running and chasing your dreams and we'll be right here, cheering you on!! I love this reno Series and it's teaching me a lot as a 23 year old who just graduated from college & is looking for meaning. I just helped my parents start their own business and it is a HUGE learning curve! There have been bumps and bruises but all we can do is keep rolling with the punches!! Thank you for inspiring me to work for myself and be an entrepreneur! We love our DIY/Thrift and now Reno queen
🌓Sweetie I’m just soooooooo proud of you. Just so incredibly proud. Your channels are so authentic and motivating, it definitely keeps everyone realizing how real all this is, and that anyone that wants to do this, can do this and what can happen along the way. So inspiring sweetie. Blessings to you and your family and I pray that you have everything you need and more. Much love to ya gurlll.🙋🏾♀️💕🦋
Kim it's so refreshing to see such kind words being spoken in this day and age.... kindness and lifting up our brothers and sisters in Christ is what it is all about!!!! Much love to you young lady!!! 😊🙌🏼❤️
Now kids, McKenna has had some great parents and parenting. She is a product of parents that invested their time to raise a healthy, intelligent, hard-working, moral, loyal, responsible human being. No victim hood displayed. I can bet on it. It was you can do anything and what their expectations were. They have raised an amazing young lady. So proud of you McKenna. 💐🌷❤️
Should I run back there to give you perspective? Ok 😄 We are on the journey with you!! 🙌🏼 It can feel liked there is a lot of pressure to finish, but I think I speak for many of us when I say, we are invested and want to see you succeed. No matter how long it takes 🙂
You absolutely inspired me. I have been wanting a pantry under our staircase for a while now. My husband was willing but just did not have the time to start doing it. So.... when the boys went to school and he was away for bussiness, i did it myself! Took me a week, but i did it.
I am so glad to see a strong woman who goes out and purchases her first home and then do all the demolition herself. I don't mind getting dirty and using tools myself, and I am definitely with you on that. I look forward every week to see the things that you have done to the cottage. I especially like the trips to all the stores and the fabulous pieces that you and your Mom come across. Keep being your creative and sweet self. I am on this journey right with you.😊
Beyond thankful you’re sharing this journey with us. Your smile and passion is a breath of fresh air. I lost my mom a little over a month ago, and seeing your mom work her butt off with you makes my heart so full. Those moments with your mama will never be forgotten. Please tell her, I love her little giggle:) Make sure to give each other big hugs today!
Oh my! Tell me why I almost teared up listening to Macenna. You have come so far! From little DIY’s and Thrift Flips, to financing and building a beautiful house. I have been watching you for years! I’ve grown up with you. You have no idea how much you have influenced me. Because of you I want to start my own RU-vid channel and sell thrifted goods on my own online market! Thank you so much for sharing your life and journey with us all! I WILL ALWAYS SUPPORT YOU!
Watching you and Rachel Metz renovate your properties really comforts me in the idea that I want to buy myself a house to renovate, hopefully in the next 5 years. So inspiring. I love how you're reusing all the things you can salvage from the house.
Both Rachel and MaCenna are absolute kickass queens, 💯 agree! Can I also suggest Shade Shannon (pronounced “sha-day”), Instagram name _HomeOfShade, for a British woman doing similar things - same energy 😍
I keep wishing there was a fast forward button or like a series on Netflix where I can sit here all day and binge watch the “Comfort Cottage Renovation”! It’s so hard to wait and see what it’s all going to look like! We renovated our house here in Fl that was sitting empty for a couple years and it was done in about 6 months but it was nothing compared to your renovation! I feel all of your pain and your excitement! Can’t wait to see the end product! Also, can’t wait to see some more decor diys, I’m sure that will be coming as you move along on this journey! And 32?? Seriously??? Makes sense because your mom looks very young as well! Love your channel!
Awww my heart!! The end when you started tearing up... I bought my first house 7 years ago with my husband. We had a baby and a toddler at the time, and the house was built in 1947, Cape Cod style. It was a hodgepodge of materials and had no general direction, however, the moment we pulled up to see the house, I knew it would be ours. We have done so much to this house since, and you’re right about the learning curve. Anyway, the day we got the keys, I came to clean before we moved in our furniture and everything. As I was scrubbing the toilet, it hit me that this was MY toilet. I owned this toilet... holy moly we bought a HOUSE! So, I sat there crying over my new toilet in my new house, just grateful for everything we have in our life. It’s an amazing feeling, and I’m so excited for you guys to continue on your project and see it coming together ❤️
I just always enjoy watching Americans renovating their houses, it's super different from where I live, u use a lot of wood literally all the house structure is wood
Honestly it put me off watching a bit when she revealed it was a holiday home. It doesn't seem as down to earth documenting all of this and doing all of this for a SECOND home. Like if you've got the money cool, but its a bit less realistic for the average person!
@@Lanasleaves It's all unrealistic for an average person. Wanting to move the house back, building guest cottages from scratch and now saying it's only going to be a holiday home. I'm like ok then...it's putting me off aswell.
Omg I started tearing up when you started crying, I need to stop and compose myself right now. I’m so invested in this I feel like we are just friends having weekly FaceTime catch ups 😅🤎
This was such a nice way to start my day, thanks! As a daughter of someone who bought an apartment in a building from 1920 I can confirm: accommodating the needs of modern living and staying true to the original design (which we obviously want to do, we buy these old properties because we love vintage, after all) is a tough balancing act! I admit it pains me to see the foyer go, but I understand that you need to make your house functional. Who cares what others think - this is your house, all those criticising you won't be living there. I think you deserve a medal for trying to preserve as much of the original house as you can, many people in your position wouldn't have bothered and just knocked it down to build from scratch. Respect & good luck with the project!
You should be so incredibly proud of yourself! Saving from such a young age, consistently working so hard, and just DOING this! It’s absolutely amazing and inspiring. And the attention to detail is laser focused! I bet your parents just love having you close to them, and watching their daughter accomplish so much. Thank you for sharing! 💕
Can we please take a second to recognise your amazing Mam for all the amazing, hard work she is doing with you? I love my Mammy but she couldn't help me hang a frame, never mind doing all that heavy lifting and demo 🤣♥️
I literally started crying at the end with her 🥲😫😭 you really do inspire us! I always talk about you n tell ppl omg have you seen the girl that’s renovating and demolishing her home all by her self with her bare hands.
As an artist, I know you like to paint also - think about saving those square larger ceiling tiles to use as canvases. They could look sweet when you get finished painting your abstracts on them. Love your determination and strength! Your mom must be SO PROUD of you!
Now I'M crying! I am so grateful I found your channel several months ago and loving this cottage journey. Love your authenticity and style. Keep doing you.
Your work ethic amazes me every week. You deserve everything you get because you work for it, no sense of entitlement. I impatiently wait for each installment.
I seriously think you are the sweetest RU-vidr. You tell us like it is, you share every piece of your journey when you don’t have to, and you share all the information you possibly can. Most people wouldn’t do that. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I just bought my first home at 23 years old, so I have no clue what I am doing lol. Your videos give me so much inspiration and proof that I can make the home of my dreams too. ❤️❤️
This goes to show how important is a good upbringing, her parents obviously are hardworking people and she's been raised seeing them going after their goals, not just dreaming, and so she does the same. Also, how important it is to have some understanding about personal finances, investing wisely and all that stuff. I didn't have that example and so I'm 32 and just starting to get a grasp of this, while she is such a beautiful example for me. :) Thank you, Macenna! I'm rooting for you and this whole project, just like many of us here!
Ma Cenna I also am rotavating my home and it's 65yrs old. I am tired too.. So proud of you doing this yourself. I want to come stay at the cottages when they are done! Oh..this is #12 for me. I am 66. Last one! Tell that Momma she raised you right!
Wow MaCenna I thought you were 26 or something, you look so young and full of energy! Loving the series and totally understand that it will take time to do all this yourself. The best of luck with all the renovations!
My husband and I started watching you for decor inspiration, thrift flips, etc. but I totally stayed for you. Even when some weeks the topics aren't entirely what I'm keen on at the time, I enjoy your content so much because your personality really makes these videos and your vlogs so fun to watch. Thank you for taking us all along on your journey. With love from South Africa. x
In the first half of the video I was def thinking “idk how she has the motivation for all this, it would’ve been a chore for me” but by the end seeing how much you love to do this and how excited you are by this project is so beautiful!! From doing room renovations to a whole house, we’re proud of you girl! 🥳
Hi MaCenna, I hope you're doing well! I think you would really enjoy Olive Trees either in really large glazed pots or planted in the ground around the cottage and courtyard areas. They'll do well in your environment and the leaves look soft and contemporary.
This is literally my favorite series I've ever watched on YT. I'm so excited to see what you've got to share each week. I'm honestly kind of excited that it's going to take awhile to get everything done because that means more videos!
You are SO inspiring MaCenna!! I am living for this journey of yours and Romeo’s! I don’t want to see all of it done in a one hour show. I love watching each step and seeing how much you put into every detail. Your mom is adorbs too! What amazing memories to have with your parents! Keep up the awesome work and thank you for sharing this piece of your life with us!
I’m here because I love this stuff too. We built a really nice gazebo in our back yard. We,be resided our house, built a barn shed with a loft, and remodeled the entire inside of this house. Our project this summer is the bathroom. Last room to be done. Because we live in the Pacific Northwest and we have massive amounts of rain, we poured a cement floor/ foundation for the barn. No floor to rot out and we did the same for the gazebo. Cement, hubby is a welder/ fabricator so he made the stamp for the patio and we acid stained it. Love this stuff
It’s so cool to see someone that’s so level headed and driven. You’re a true inspiration and an awesome role model. We need more boss babes like you who work hard to achieve their goals.
Girl, you made me cry 😢 you should be very proud and thrilled about what you have been able to accomplish. Thank you for bringing us along on your journey.
I've renovated 3 big houses so I know hard you're working. I'm 62 now an those days are gone. I'm worn out just watching you! You're the true definition of effervescent. It's a joy and so inspiring to watch your video's. Thanks for sharing this journey with us..
You should do a diy fire pit with a seating area, it’ll bring everything together and will make your property warm, inviting, and a great vacation spot.
Your gratitude and humility are so much more beautiful than you can imagine. I am always looking for your newest video, I'm almost 30 and you make me push harder to achieve the life I am dreaming of and that I can. Girl, you are an amazing woman, keep doing what you do and loving every moment of it. 💜🤍
I was so disappointed in not receiving an update yesterday- (I even double checked my notification on your page.) I told myself, this is definitely much more work then we are understanding. BUT I LOVE IT- just so you know! I love love love your humbleness, honestly, authentic nature. Happy, positive, focused mindset.
This whole series has been captivating and has showcased what a wonderful person you are. You should be so proud of all you’ve accomplished, and I can’t wait to keep watching you work your magic on this beautiful home!
I’ve been following you for a little over a year now and since day 1, you have inspired me. Not only did you spark the DIY fire inside me, it gave me a reason to keep going some days. I needed that creativity. I’m so happy for you and your AMAZING accomplishments and I’m so excited to follow you on your home reno journey ❤️ You go girl!
I cried with you. I don’t write comment often but I LOVE your videos. I LOVE your beautiful personality. I wish you the best. I can’t wait to be part of this journey.
After renovating our own cottage that was built in 1846 here in England, its a joy to watch someone else doing it,and appreciate all the hard work your putting in. Think it will be helpful to tell people how much taps are/ radiators ect but don't feel you have to justify how much you want to pay for something you've worked had to have, as you deserve it. Sending love and encouragement ❤💕💗
I love watching this series! I prefer to tune in to your videos than HGTV 9 times out of 10! Thank you for being so dedicated and motivating! Youre doing amazing!!!
Anyone else eager to enter that card info once the guest cottages are live for vacationing? The guest cottages aren't even built yet but I am SO ready to visit
Absolutely the highlight of my week ☺️ And girrrrl give us all the ads so we can help make the cottages the prettiest ones in the world!! Sending lots of love❤️
I seriously love how positive you are. It's refreshing and overall makes your content stand out so much more! Thank you and I'll be waiting for the next video.
You've quickly become my favorite RU-vidr. You inspire me so much in terms of home renovation and DIY, but also just for life stuff in general! Your positive, can-do attitude is infectious, and I always so look forward to your videos every week.
OMG...i love this series so much; this whole project really strikes a chord for me. I can't go into detail publicly on the internet, but there's a project that i want to take on that is similar, and holy cow would it be awesome if i had someone like you to chat with about it. Congrats on the progress, good luck with the upcoming phases, and my goodness you getting choked up at the end was the sweetest thing i've seen on YT today. 🖤
