Should we care what the Early Church believed and practiced? is the Catholic Church a gross distortion of true, early Christianity? Or is it more accurate to say that whatever the Reformation might have been, it was not a restoration of the Christian faith as practiced in the first 200 years of the Church.

Very inspiring 👍🏻. I heard you on your Cordial Catholic interview. Welcome home. You explain things so well. I’m a Catholic revert as well. I was born Catholic and drifted away in the 1970s, when I had gotten involved in new age stuff, then evangelical protestantism, then back to New Age stuff. THEN back to the Catholic Church in about 2019. Lol. That’s full circle. Now the church means more to me than it ever did, particularly with all the vast information available on the Internet leading me into a proper formation of what the Catholic church is and always has been. Keep up the great work. You are in my prayers. You have a very refreshing delivery. Sprinkled with some humor. Your points are very strong.

The first Christians were at Antioch and they were *NOT Roman.* And when Jesus said; "He who is hearing you, hears Me; and he who is putting you away, puts Me away; and he who is putting Me away, puts away Him who sent Me.” (~ Luke 10:16) He was *NOT* talking only to Peter

Actually, the first Christians were at Jerusalem. It's just at Antioch where the moniker "Christian" (originally a slur, kind of like "fundamentalist") was first applied to the followers of Jesus. With regard to Luke 10:16, no one, myself included, claims that this was spoken to Peter alone, but to all the apostles. Peter is, however, singled out in other passages, such as Matt. 16:17-19, Luke 22:31-32, and John 21:15-17.

@@midairfortress-revert But Jesus also called Peter "Satan." And the first churches (within the Roman empire) were supposed to "rule"" jointly" as Jesus said; "that" they may be one." Biblical literalists will be shocked when they get to the Pearly Gates and find that Peter is NOT an actual rock

You should also know that Pope Francis has reinstated the title of “Patriarch of the West” among the attributes of the Pope. Benedict XVI eliminated this title It is worth mentioning that the Orthodox were not pleased by Benedict’s decision in 2006, nor were some Catholics of the Eastern Rites, in part because the patriarchal standing of the See of Rome was one of the things on which there was broad and unambiguous agreement. I hope you are not too disturbed by the renewed appellation 😁

And anyway it was St. Paul who actually was the 2nd founder of The Church. NOT Peter. Paul was highly literate. Peter was at the low end

And surely you know, The Donation of Constantine was a forged papal document written in the Middle Ages. Supporters of the document said it was a 4th-century manuscript in which Emperor Constantine gave Pope Sylvester I control over Rome and the western portion of his empire. Lorenzo Valla, an Italian Catholic priest and Renaissance humanist, is credited with first exposing the forgery with solid philological arguments in 1439-1440, although the document's authenticity had been repeatedly contested since 1001.

You say the EARLY church was the Catholic Church. You may be right, but the EARLIEST church was NOT the Catholic Church. The earliest church was the catholic church.

Nope,the Catholic church was not the church by Christ. The church of Jesus Christ was based on purity and the teaching of Christ,which the Catholic church doesn't have.
