I meet Ian in Victoria, British Columbia. He used to make a living as a welder but came down with stomach issues. He went to the hospital and had two tumors cut out of him. Ian has lived a colorful life to say the least, so the rest of the story you just have to hear for yourself. He admits he has the "gift of the gab". I could sit and listen to Ian's stories all day.
For survival, Ian does a little panhandling and sometimes dumpster diving.
The day I met Ian he had five day sober. On the streets that is a miracle. I hope he keeps at it. Ian is a very strong man and can do anything he puts his mind to and I wish him all the best.

About Invisible People:
Since its launch in November 2008, Invisible People has leveraged the power of video and the massive reach of social media to share the compelling, gritty, and unfiltered stories of homeless people from Los Angeles to Washington, D.C. The vlog (video blog) gets up close and personal with veterans, mothers, children, layoff victims and others who have been forced onto the streets by a variety of circumstances. Each week, they’re on InvisiblePeople.tv, and high traffic sites such as RU-vid, Twitter and Facebook, proving to a global audience that while they may often be ignored, they are far from invisible.
Invisible People goes beyond the rhetoric, statistics, political debates, and limitations of social services to examine poverty in America via a medium that audiences of all ages can understand, and can’t ignore. The vlog puts into context one of our nation’s most troubling and prevalent issues through personal stories captured by the lens of Mark Horvath - its founder - and brings into focus the pain, hardship and hopelessness that millions face each day. One story at a time, videos posted on InvisiblePeople.tv shatter the stereotypes of America’s homeless, force shifts in perception and deliver a call to action that is being answered by national brands, nonprofit organizations and everyday citizens now committed to opening their eyes and their hearts to those too often forgotten.
Invisible People is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to changing the way we think about people experiencing homelessness.

Ian is my father...we stay in touch to this day and have many colourful conversations. He said himself it’s up to him to make the change. I would have posted sooner but it took me this long to actually find this video. As of today March 24/2020 he’s been finally living off the streets in Victoria. He continues to struggle with alcoholism. All in all he cares about each of us kids in his own way. Thank you to this site for posting this video. 😌

I have met and worked with a ton of guys just like this. It's amazing to see the money they make and still end up with nothing. I am in a union in Alberta and am also a "b" pressure welder, I have over 20 years sober and after losing everything to a common law relationship 10 years ago I have been living in a rv away from people as much as I can. Being sober is the ticket to happiness the "B" pressure ticket just gives you the ability to provide what ever level of happiness you choose to have. One day I may live in another stick@brick maybe even be able to have a relationship again we'll see but for now it's just going to be me and the RV.

@@dane3365 isn't it sad were raised to be independent at 18 and then we're exspected to do it all by ourselves. The welfare system caused this. Because before it we had to have each other. Now people are exspected to rely solely on them selves alone. Causing people to go to welfare for help. That's acceptable. Living and helping family is taboo... And it's disgusting

Turn your way to God for help buddy. Please stop addiction if you have. Read the Holy Bible for answers, for consolatian, read the New Testament in it for the Gospel. Go to church, ask there for shelter included some work for money. Pray God for forgiveniss of your sins through the powerful work of His Son Jesus Christ. Amen. When you have God, you have everything, He will help you if you are honest and do your best. Pray and work normal if you can, best to you!
