Nice one mike, that crossbow sounds much healthier with the full size bolts, also the 2018 refers to the diameter and wall thickness if you look up 2018 aluminium bolts/arrows they should be the same size, you might be able to make 2 of these bolts from one 2018 arrow shaft

Also worth noting it’s windy Definitely will have some impact even on a heavy bolt

@@WeaponCollector Yes Mike You are always very helpful... I agree mate R9 is a cracker 👍🏻 great fun to shoot and feels a really strong well made Crossbow... with a ton of add ons laser... Flashlight... bipod... red dot ... scope... quiver ... you can mod it to your hearts content... We will need a bayonet tho my friend 😉

Informative video, Mike. I don't know if you remember, but when I did the video of my r9 I mentioned then that I much preferred the simplicity of it over the "multi-shot" version? It seems that I may have been correct!

Yes, you are correct mate, i think the same thing, the R9 versions are better to shoot, i find the cobra adder magazine fiddly, it only takes the ek archery bolts (no homemade ones worked for me) and they seem way to light and therefore must put much more pressure on the prod / crossbow and it can only be shot using a red dot or telescopic sight. This one is able to shoot the big bolts and smaller ones, plus its can use open sights or red dot / telescopic

Pistol crossbow fan... your dead right mate I tool Mike advice ... got the R9 with both 90lb and 130lb prods I can shoot both long and short bolts best of both worlds... and with what I saved I got a umarex hdr. 50... love the R9.. Great 👍🏻advice from Mike and yourself mate cheers

Mike have you tried making any bolts for the Drakon x-bow? Also, did you try these bolts you are demonstrating in the Drakon yet?

I have not made any for the drakon yet, might try if i can find some stock the right size, they are quite thin, 6mm or less. These full size bolts won;t fit annoyingly, theres a little step bit under the sight that stop larger bolts going fully back.

I was looking at the Wooden Cedar arrow shafts. as a Adder 7.5" long stackable Bolt. I can form the Nock in the wood with my grinder, and then put what ever tip I want on it make sharper pointier, or more rounded bullet shaped, with my grinder, and use them for target practice I can get 3 each 7.5" Adder Bolt out of one 24" Cedar Shaft, these are Solid cedar Not Hollow. I am Looking at these $16.00us at 24.5" inches long for 12 each, so i should be able to make 36 each out of them, I may get some and cut one to length and weigh it, to see how much if any weight needs to be added after i add the vanes and 100 to 150 grain tip. looking for a weight of between 12 grams and 20 grams, 12 grams would be faster and Longer distance, heavier would be shorter range. Then check it for front to Back Balance point. these are what is near me but possible they have these type of MFR's in all Countries.

Wants the diameter of the Bodkins adder tips I have some but there 8mm Is that too big? Shaft is only 7.5mm Will they scratch my rail?

Not shot them much mate, but i reckon they will hold up fine, will do some more tests on them soon to see the durability

2018 is the thickness and diameter. I used to shoot Easton game getters 2116's with a 125 grain field tip. I can't remember if the first 2 numbers is the diameter or the last two.

@@WeaponCollector it looks like a date, I know it does but that's a measurement given to aluminum arrows and since carbon fiber and other materials are quite popular, it's not as well known.

Bizarre isn't it mate, the front sight is too thick and covers the target, lol, and it had 3 dots, i covered the others with black tape. i even tried putting the tomcat 2 rear sight on it, but it was then too high, it looks like they expect you to have a red dot or telescopic on it. I specifically got this one for the open sights and cos you can use full size bolts, may have to make my own sights now i reckon.

@@WeaponCollector Yeah that's what I think. I've seen quite a lot of air rifles like that as well, basically can't use them unless you have a scope or laser, I much prefer an iron sight open option.

Thats was 90lb, but will be putting a 130lb prod on it soon.

Mike been looking at the REDBACK with the magazine mate.... looks really nice ... But Mike £256 christ mate that's a lot. ... I got a R9 90LB and 130B prods... 10 x 15inch bolts 6x 7inch bolts. And it came with the crap but free red dot sight and cost me £205...thats very steep for the REDBACK Mike don't you think matey .

it that how much it is? i was sure i saw it for £60 with the mag, i've never buy any pistol for £256. thats basically £220 for a plastic magazine, sod that Ste.
