A keeper! Tried the filling a month ago and I am in the process of making them again. I used a donut recipe that used far less yeast. A big hit with my family and co-workers (too many for just my wee family). I did a chocolate ganache and maple glaze topping. A versatile filling. It is hard to find a good chocolate cream donut where I live so I am thrilled to make my own. I believe this cream filling is called Holland cream or a Kreme cream for those familiar with Krispy Kreme. A big thanks to Helen for the cream filling recipe.

My Mom made a boiled frosting as a kid. She used milk & flour & shortening. I loved that " frosting". It made a ton of this topping. So fluffy & good.

Up in Maine they put the cream in and raspberry jam or jelly and they call them bismarks. The cream and jelly are so good together!!! Come to think about it I've had them with lemon pie filling and apple pie filling with the cream of course but the raspberry was always my favorite!

I live in Central PA. Thanks to the Amish who are obsessed with peanut butter, I would fill these with a peanut butter filling--Wendy, Harrisburg, PA.

Start adding peanut butter to the filling 1/4 cup at a time, until you get your desired taste. I would also take a jar of Mrs Richards hot fudge ice cream topping and melt it so I could drizzle a little on top of the doughnuts. YUM.

I also live in Central PA! We get these Amish donuts called Nan's Donuts! If you get a chance, and are near Loganton on a Saturday morning, look them up! Most delicious pb filled and creme filled donuts you'll ever have!

I grew up eating Krispy Kreme doughnuts all the when I was a child. When kids at school brought chips and drinks for parties our family brought doughnuts. Your doughnuts looks so delicious. I’m going to try them. Thank you, Catherine!

My grandmother fried her donuts in lard then laid them out on a brown paper bag best ever, she passed in early 80’s . This recipe looks great.

I like cream filled donuts I also like the ones that with cherries in them and blueberries I've never came across though any with blueberries I have with cream and Cherry but not blueberries or strawberries I'm looking forward to making these I've never made donuts before you take care of dear and God bless

That cream filling will be great as a thick topping for homemade cinnamon raisin bread. If you are anywhere within a half a day's drive from Ronks Pennsylvania, be sure to stop in at Miller's Smorgasbord right on the lincoln highway and try their Cream smothered raisin bread. YUM!

Joan ODonnell, once in a lifetime event to sit down alone with two dozen fresh, homemade cream filled donuts and eat as many as possible before sharing!!! We make cream puffs when my sisters and I get together, and everyone knows they need to be eaten the same day… so 4 of us bravely face down a dozen lucious whipped cream filled, brown sugar frosting covered donuts! Such memories!

I am happy you tried the cream filling, I am about to make a batch of these today. They freeze good, as I can't eat a dozen donuts in one sitting, lol. Just let them come to room temp and maybe a 5 sec microwave zap to warm them a little.

Look terrific. My favorite donut or roll Is an orange bowknot. My mother made them for every holiday breakfast and then some. They have orange zest in the dough and zest and orange juice in the glaze. Delicious warm with butter. I might just have to make some and some of your filled donuts which we call bismarcks in Minnesota.

This is the 2nd time I have made these. Today being a cold snowy day why not lol. Made the cream filling and wanted some what of a Change so , took cherry pie filling and thickened and filled half rolled in sugar and them adding cream filling with some of the cherry so it made a cherry cream. Oh soooo. Good.
