Carolyn by the time you get your van like you want it you will need a day to rest up before your trip. Working in that heat will ware you out !! I love your persistence Carolyn....you're not a quitter !! Sending Hugs❤🙂
Good morning, just get you a white bungee cord ,a piece of small PVC on it put your paper towels on there but you toilet paper on it and be done to low cost and expensive you have a great day Carolyn I have love your videos happy 4th of July. I learn a lot from you.
I don't have medal around my windows. Open your door and tuck the screening into the rubber frame all around using two credit cards or even pry the rubber frame back and work the screening in there with your hands. Along the bottom tuck it underneath that tiny strip. It takes a little patience but the reason for the 3 sided tape is to help keep it in place not only as you are working but it helps to keep it tight.
I don't comment often, but I wanted to let you know how much I enjoy your videos. With all these fires, be safe out there Carolyn! I'm not too far from you. I'm in Scottsdale. Take care 🙂
@@CaravanCarolyn Yes very happy with Dental Place ! They picked me up in Phoenix drove me down and back. Took care of me there/checked on me. As a older single woman I felt safe! Thanks never know how many people you encourage and helped! 🙏
I confess to going out to my camper for no particular reason...if the weather is nice it's like another room. The screens look good enough you can do something with the excess later if you want. But having screens is nice! And yeah...I remember when I could see also...stay cool!!
Check your local Office Depot/Staples for some 'clippies'.that have pins on the back. The pins will still into the fabric upholstery and the clip part will hold whatever. I did trade shows and events and used these to hold up my displays. Good luck !
That’s Fantastic! (Lol! You look like a cute little kid while laying down contemplating a nap..... can’t blame ya! Your van looks Super Cozy!) = Great Job! Hugs to you and Parker! Happy Saturday, have a terrific day! 🌻🐾👏💌
It is fun watching you do all these neat things to your van. Traveling Grandma does have great ideas. Yes, it is so hard to get things done outside when it is hot. I tried that yesterday doing yard work, and thought I was going to die at just 108. I kept going in and cooling off. It took me all day just to clean my patio and small backyard garden. Today I am staying inside!
I swear my dear, you are going to pass out from the heat! Get your tush inside in the cool! I applaud your abilities and determination, but, GEEZE !!! 😓😓😓
That was really funny about not getting your credit card number because it’s your players card LOL always great to see a video from you! I think I’m gonna put screens like that in my van, even if it’s just for day trips. It’s nice to be able to open the windows and get the fresh air without the bugs!
Good morning, I just wanted to say thank you for answering my question about the keto powerpacks hope you have an awesome Fourth of July weekend thank you again
Do you have a house fan that you could plug in by the doorway, open your van door, and let it blow on you while working in there? Since the mini is parked right beside the door, you could even set up a big square fan that way. Of course a smaller one could just be run with an ext. cord right into the van. That way you wouldn't have to run the vehicle and you could stay cool out there! Just a suggestion..... Have a great holiday weekend!
I watched Travel Grandma's window screen video too and loved it. She is so patient and calm. Leslie Kalk did a video on window screens that was very interesting. A lot more labor intensive but you can take them in and out.
Dang! 3K views in 3 hours! See how LOVED you are! That's so great! ☺️ A BIG HAPPY AMERICAN 4TH OF JULY, CAROLYN, RON & PARKER! ❤️🇺🇲❤️ On the towel rack, what if you took a razor and sliced the paper towel roll the long ways and then slide it over the bar? Is the rack long enough? Then, MAYBE you could just pull a paper towel from the roll? Maybe slice it on the perforation? Just an idea on how you might still use it if Walmart won't take it back. Maybe run the AC when you're working in your van? I'm worried you're going to get Heat Stroke! ❤️
Carolyn, I have that tape. (tried) using it in my car to hold my GPS cord away, that tape gets hot in the heat and "melts". I don't thinkanything! will work with this heat.
Maybe you could buy more of the black out reflective material and cut out the centers leaving enough edge to hold them in place. Attach the screen with the spray adhesive.. You would not have sticky tape to deal with and could remove when driving like the pretty black out shades.
I've seen where someone used plastic sheeting that I think you can get at home Depot. He cut out the middle to attach screening in the center of the frame he made. The only issue with that is something else to have to store away if you don't leave them on. You can actually lift the screening on my windows to readjust them, and if they tape for some reason isn't holding up well anymore, just redo that section. So easy and cheap. I fist had put black electrical tape on mine to finish it off, but found it unnecessary after awhile once it started shrinking in the heat if happen to stretch it while putting it on which is hard to not do.
KUDOS for another great share, and video! I would have to try screens on back flip out windows, since my Van doesn't have windows that go down on sliders. Just love to see you and wathc your Van adventures! You are fortunate to have a carport, at least its covered.... I too will sit or lay in Van as I work and putz with it... Cheers from PNWest :)
I have seen some use office paper clips, ( the kind that have two handles that you squeeze), between the plastic and the glass, (One side of the clip goes under the plastic). One probably could bend thin metal, (cut up tin can), into a "U" shape and put half of it under the plastic. Then you could use magnets on that metal.
High temperatures soften most glues. I'm in new England and couldn't get anything to stick for very long during the summer. I suggest mechanical fasteners.
As a person who has lived in her van... That plastic does not hold sticky things...I don't understand why, but it doesn't... We used binder clamps at the edges and clipped things or hung them with hooks...if you would like I can send you some videos to it..but its on my Hubbys channel... Bentleys Backwoods Bushcraft.. TFS...also..if it doesn't stay there may be 2 things to consider; 1: the heat will melt off the adhesive; 2: the plastic may hold better if its cleaned with alcohol first.. I really hope this works for you...
The screen looks good. A little hang over does not look bad. Your van is so wonderful. I use E6000 glue for a variety of purposes. It may work with the plastic. It comes off my fingers much easier than super glue. It dries clear. Just a thought.💖 Your videos are excellent!!!
Well that is excellent...and it sure will be useful! You did a great job! I hope the screens help you to be nice and cool. I'll have to remember this one. 👍👍👍👍👍😁
When you were affixing the rain deflectors, you washed the stick-on surface with alcohol. I didn't see that this time. Some surfaces have an oxygenation build up which does not welcome adhesives. I don't know that makes a difference. Good luck and thanks.
As long as it keeps you cool and keeps the bugs out why bother about the looks. I'd just hope that when you take the tape off it comes off easy and doesn't leave a mess. Also Carolyn in some places in Colorado there is yellow bags on the gas pumps so be sure you fill up before crossing the state line. So happy for you to be going when the time is right. Hugs to Parker and Love ya.
For things that don't bound, 1st day clean the area with pure clear vinegar, and a paper towel....2nd day sand a thin straight area you want to bound, using the finest sanding paper, I use the stuff in Michael's craft store...sand off 1/2" by the length you need it. =)
ALSO at the hardware store like Lowes, you can buy thin metal stripping ( its a strip you'd see under a door ) and that stripping has a very strong adhesive backing, ALSO velcro comes this was with adhesive backing, found in Walmarts craft store.
Great idea. Unfortunately my 06 caravan sliding windows don’t retract. Bummer. Trying to figure out how to make screens for my pop out rear windows. Thanks for sharing. Cheers
Walmart takes anything back, no problem. Maybe you have to do the adhesive things when it is not so hot. If you car interior is above a certain temp stuff will not stick.
I have not read all f the comments, but. I'm watching a 2019 video by Nomadic Survival making removable screens. She is using AUTOMOTIVE Goop. She said it s flexible and made for automobile plastics. She is attaching Velcro to the plastic....I'm guessing it could be used for numerous projects.
When I saw your video with the paper towel bar, I was thinking it did't have enough room to hold a full paper towel roll. Sorry it didn't work out for you. Are you sure you want permanent screening? It's going to make it hard to clean your windows. Plus, what if you want to remove the tape and sticky goo in the future? I'm really enjoying watching your van build. Be safe from the fires and smoke.
You are almost making me want to transform my van. My problem is I'm 5'10" and don't think I waould have enough room like you, sitting up or stretched out. LOL Will your Reflectix still fit? HUGS~Donna
