Here's our built from scratch go kart with homemade shifter kart frame with some home depot pipe and a harbor freight welder. We put a lot of time into this project and took a lot of pictures so we figured it would be cool to put it into a video. Kart has a predator 212cc motor with a comet torque converter and 11x6.00-6 Maxxis Tires on it. Top speed is around 45.

Great home build. You're lucky your dad helped you with it, seems like you guys bond well together unlike me and my old man. We've never done anything like this together. Can't wait till my kids are old enough to do stuff like this.

Very “Sweet” Go Cart and very well looking build. Now put a Mikuni V22 and put a 40 main jet you can always adjust the emulsion needle valve if it’s running rich put the clip at third from bottom and if it’s lean use the very last notch on the needle valve and you should notice a nice fast response on it. Nice job!!!

Woah! Absolutely appreciate the enthusiasm! Just a few things to consider in your design 1: you've got very little positive caster in your design. It provides more front-end grip as well transfers load to the front when turning. Steering efforts increased, but helps straight-line stability, and 2: Ackerman! Right now, when turning, your front wheels are following the same radius around a given corner. This works against you in that the inside wheel is going through heavy scrubbing, thereby inducing understeer. Yeah, so you've got two things that will promote understeer as you get close to the limit of your chassis. Lot's on it out there
@BuildBreakRepeat
@BuildBreakRepeat 7 лет назад
michael green Thanks for the info, we have experienced some understeer so we'll look into it.

Great job fella's, I'm sure the BUG has hit you now and you're already planning a different design so learn what you can from each and every part you build and enjoy what you do because it could lead you into a career of fabricating or maybe just the hobby of it but either way there is nothing better than being able to build what you desire.

Next time, if there is a next time (and there should be) because you'll only get better at it, especially putting all of this work in, you guys should make sure to measure, measure, measure. Draw out a perfectly measured grid on that sheetrock or whatever medium you use, and use the grid to get your two sides even. Then measure and mark directly onto the metal with permanent marker every single time you're going to weld a joint. Like that old saying "Measured once, cut twice, and the damn thing is still too short." :D
@BuildBreakRepeat
@BuildBreakRepeat 7 лет назад
Alpha Machina lol yeah, good idea with the grid, what we really need to figure out is a way to make the bends equal because there isn't really any measurements or anything for that pipe bender, but yeah like you said hopefully we only get better haha.

Dylan Brown Man I wish I knew exactly...this was a while ago but if I had to just throw out a general number for how much everything cost (not including the engine, torque converter and pipe for frame) I would say 400-500 bucks. The all the metal probably us probably 100 dollars and the engine and torque converter cost us a couple hundred.
