Ditch the stuff in a can and make your own sauce. So much better, healthier and easy. Totally worth the effort. Use your Sloppy Joe filling for a traditional sandwich, stuff into a baked potato, or top french bread with it to make a delicious pizza...so versatile. Did I mention it tastes amazing?!
1 lb. ground beef
1 medium sweet onion, finely chopped
1/2 ea. red and green bell pepper (or any peppers you like), finely chopped
1-2 t. season salt
1-2 t. black pepper
1/2 c. water (adding more if necessary)
1 6 oz. can tomato paste
2 T. brown sugar
2 T. Worcestershire Sauce
1-2 t. Balsamic vinegar
1/2-1 t. garlic powder
1 T. Dijon mustard
1/4-1/2 c. Tomato Jam or ketchup
1/4-1/2 c. whatever cheese you like
Saute' your ground beef with the veggies, add the rest of the ingredients and simmer for 15-30 minutes. Enjoy!!
