Bose more complete in the low and middle range sounds, the problem with the bass can be easily solved by moving it to another surface. Home pod just an overload of high frequencies that when over the mid volume, makes a disturbing noise like a whistle and looses all the bass and middle range.
like the features, setup was difficult for some of my devices (August Door lock, ru-vid.comUgkxhB5YOMNj04GuoAosExygP4cH-dKeb4aB Bose speaker)... but all switches and outlets (5), thermostat, tankless water heater. Unfortunately all I can do is turn on/off Bose. It doesn't support volume or changing channels, but I believe that is due to the particular speaker I have.... Worth getting if you already have other devices to use it with... I don't sit around and ask Alexa questions much so that doesn't really matter to me....

I think sound quality wise, there’s no beating the HomePod. Apple just seem to have the correct balance and the upward facing woofer prevents the distortion that Bose, Sonos etc seem to be suffering with
The Bose give you options to change the from 6 different sound profiles, and equalizer settings. Who knows what this guy setup for the Bose sound settings. This Bose speaker sounds great. Plus you can choose between Google Assistant or Amazon Alexa. The HomePod is stuck with crappy Siri. Plus this Bose 500 has Bluetooth support, and audio in and audio out ports. Also this Bose 500 has Air Play 2 support. Not to mention you can use your voice to play and do a lot more stuff, including from a lot more sources, than you could use your voice to play from a HomePod.
Sean Godsell but strictly from a sound quality standpoint the HomePod still comes out on top-without having to mess with any of that settings you mention. It takes care of everything by itself. It’s pretty dumb though when it comes to digital assistant functionality.
But the sound is about only bass,,if u listen again u can just hear high and lows homepod mids are muddy compare to bose but u will say that its not because u are hearing treble frequency a whole balanced and forward thats why btw its not mids its all high frequency and it will sound like Ss and Ts in maximum volume compare to bose...

Been watching quite a few YT vids looking at smart speakers and many include audio comparisons. But got to wonder is there any value in these videos. Audio recorded by a mic, of unknown capabilities, clipped and compacted by YT and downloaded to be played via a sound card. Even using quality headphones I don't see how any of this can give a true comparison of the equipment being reviewed.

@@Syd7088 really good sound BUT.....I found that this is really only for ONE location. I set up at home then took to use at work. Its not meant to move around like a regular bluetooth speaker. If you move it you then have to reset the whole thing to set up in another location so keep in mind that its not as mobile as I would want but I still like it
We all got different sound needs. Personally the HomePod is very energetic with a boost in highs. And a boost in the high bass and mid bass... the Bose sounds way better in the mid range. And the Bose also sounds better in the treble area. More laid back but also full of detail. Bose wins but no by much

It seems home pod has less distortion and sound pressure,and very smooth -balanced sound; bose just get a little bit peaking though Both are great home speaker,but I’ll take home pod.
I bought the Bose, but returned it. I don't know. I didn't like the bass. I'm no audiophile. It sounded distorted and overwhelmed many complex songs. Especially at low volume. I bought the HomePod and it sounded more balanced, the bass was tighter, and better at low volumes. Also nice that it senses the environment. Sound is dependent on the surface you put the HomePod on, though, as the sound is fired downwards.
Homepod sounds better on high level volume, each one has their our performance, both has high quality but the Homepod has more fidelity though Bose has the screen that is so useful.
I have both speakers, and bose sounds better. When you turn up the volume, the bass decreases and there is no distortion. I don't understand this video Homepod sounds great, but not better Some songs seem more natural on homepod. But Bohemian rhapsody, Hotel California, Take On Me ... are best heard on Bose
I also have both and you're correct. The Bose sounds better. I don't know how people think they can simply watch a video and make an accurate critique. And if you're comparing it to it's functionality as a smart speaker to use as a digital assistant and control a smart home, it's not even close. The Bose wins easily.
When the HomePod came out I wasn't impressed by the bass notes. My Small Bose Soundlink Mini had better bass. Maybe I'll have to try the HomePod out again but i wouldn't buy a speaker just for Siri.I think they each sound good at different parts of the song.

So wrong, there is 6 different sound profiles to choose from, and equalizer settings. Who knows what he set it at. Plus this Bose 500 has not only AirPlay 2 support, but you get to chose between Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant. Siri sucks monkey balls, and HomeKit support is still a joke in 2020. Amazon supports around 65,000 devices, Google supports 50,000 devices, and HomeKit supports 450 devices, if you thrown in more AirPlay devices then it goes up to over 600 devices, which this Bose 500 speaker supports AirPlay 2, and it supports Bluetooth, and has an audio in port, and a audio out ports. The HomePod is a don't buy, especially when it so locked down.

If you actually want to know which is better, go to a store and test them each yourself. Let's be honest. We buy one of these for the Apple logo or Bose logo, not for the sound. Any objective audiophile can tell us that both of these sound worse than a good amp and speakers for the same price.

You aren't getting any good amp and speakers for anwhere near what either of these devices cost and the whole point is they are smart speakers. You're not controlling smart devices or asking Alexa, Google or Siri a question with your amp.
Remember you can always use the equalizer to tune the sound you want. So if this was just factory settings . I bought two homepods and I’m happy. Has two Harmon Kardon Kardon Aura Studios and HomePod beats them.
The AURA is not meant or even in the same price range if you want true Competition you should compare the Harmon Kardon Citation 300 that runs 499.99. Personally, I have the Harmon Kardon Citation 100 and it would definitely sound better than a Homepod in Pairs and you can get 2 for 198.00, and also Google is a better assistant. The other thing is you can get to Amazon Studios in pairs for about 300 to 350.00 if you look. For shopping and just turning on smart parts such as plugs, lights, etc it's also much better than Suri. Two Studios sound better than one Homepod. The only way a Homepod makes sense is if you are in the Apple ecosystem. I had an iPhone 12 it blew I sent it back the next day. Samsung Note 20 is 10 times better. If you like boring stick with Apple. Yes, I know what Suri can do I tried it when I had the iPhone 12 and I also have Beats studio 3 and Sony 1000 XM 4's which I also prefer over the Bra headphones. Also, you might consider Know Calm Headphones. Not the NC of the Sony's but better sound and QI charging.

I own both of these devices. That being said, you can't measure the sound by watching a video. You need to hear it in person to make an accurate critique. I prefer the Bose first and foremost because it plays in stereo, where the homepod is mono. You need to link two homepods together to get a stereo output. The Bose can also get louder with less distortion. As far as overall functionality, the Bose wins hands down. If you have a smart home that uses Alexa or Google Assistants for devices around the house, the homepod is useless to you. The Bose can be setup with either Alexa or Google as an assistant and you can also use Airplay from your iPhone to cast Apple Music. You can also connect devices via Bluetooth and it even has a 3.5mm input jack if you still have devices you want to use to control it via cable. The bose screen shows the album and song title and also has a clock, which is also a nice feature. Being able to adjust the bass and treble to your liking based on the type of music you're listening to is also a nice function.

Homepod me better at least according to this test. because I feel that I have more surround sound than this type of speaker needs and the sound quality in terms of both high and low sound is more acceptable to me, I have heard them both live. so i say quality sound home pod sounds decent because bose speakers don't have surround sound. Why do I say that because the homepod has 7 speakers and the subwoofer. The bose only has 2 speakers and the price is similar between them. due to functionality better bose but definitely not sound quality.

I don't even think you know what you're talking about. The homepod outputs sound in mono only. You have to link two homepods together to get stereo sound. The Bose outputs in stereo out of the box.
I prefer my Sonos anytime as it’s expandable which I use it as a home theatre. My HomePod it’s alright as I use it for small desktop space. I don’t have this Bose but I have demo it before. If I were to purchase this Bose, it will be use for my spare room but then again I rather chose Sonos One.

The bose in real would sound better I believe as the bass on the homepit just sounds more not punchy and bose is well known for the sound they can produce as Apple stuff...well not a fan of their stuff as Apple is not a very good company to their customers and that is a big part of business. 😊
Apple wins the J.D. Power & Associates award for highest consumer satisfaction just about every year. You don’t know what you’re talking about. Best selling phone in the world? iPhone. Tablet? iPad. Doesn’t seem like they dissatisfied customers to me. Bose is expensive (like Apple), but no audiophiles take them seriously when reviewing speakers or headphones. It’s high-priced consumer or “pro-sumer” level gear like most brands you can buy at Best But or stores like that. Doesn’t even compare to real audio gear like Sennheiser, Beyerdynamic, Definitive Technology, Grado (ok, I can’t stand Grados tbh so never mind them), and dedicated preamps, amps, and speakers by KEF, SVS, and dozens of other brands that most people have never heard of...unlike they really like music. And not streamed MP3s/OGGs/AACs but FLAC 24-bit/192kHz or pure uncompressed analogue sound from a mint vinyl album. A really good setup admittedly is gonna put most people out of pocket but it will make either of these sound gadgets sound like tinny toys. I don’t have a great system but I built it piece by piece...maybe $4000, but not all at once. So not $30,000 or something crazy. I use Apple Music to stream from my iPhone via optical cable to an optical (digital - no noise) input in my KEF Audio LS50 powered monitor speakers, which have an EQ and a crossover knob for the external subwoofer. Everything deep is diverted to an 800W powered SVS 10” sealed subwoofer that could destroy neighborhoods if I turned it up. Lol. And I can control it all remotely from my phone or iPad Pro as I kick back. Now that’s sound quality. It’s hard to take these under-$500 speakers seriously. But it’s like a disease, once you hear music with the coloration and distortion removed, you can’t really enjoy it they way you did before. Same thing when I got a sports car. Now it seems normal to me and I love it, but to drive cars with no balls and no soul...makes me sad. Double edged sword definitely!

So how are both fine tuned? Taking a test by just playing some songs and cranking up volume isn't that difficult nor is it a good comparison. From what I can make out of this, the pod has a bit better bass but the bose's higher freq sound better. Judging by how the last pieces of tech I bought from Apple turned out, I'd go for the Bose. But that's my opinion.

Tengo el HomePod y tiene unos graves super nitidos y bastante profundos, con un barrido de frecuencias retumba hasta 30hz, y tiene un excelente control de graves, incluso a un volumen alto.
