Oh my !! When did spelling become so complicated lol. I been out of school for 35 years we didn’t do any of this . Lol I feel so dumb. I clicked on trying figure out what phonogram are

This is so helpful! I have a rising 5th grader who struggles with spelling. Do these levels correspond to grade level? Or should we start from the beginning? Thank you!

They do not correspond to grade level; it's a good idea to start from the beginning, so you can make sure they know all of the rules that they'll build on! We went pretty quickly through Level 1. It may seem easy, BUT, being easier was good for my girls because it gave them some confidence. Hope this helps, thanks for watching!

I have a question, as I’m considering buying level 2 of AAS. I wonder, what do you think of buying the level, minus the spelling review box and letters tiles? I have a homemade Montessori-inspired movable alphabet that I use to teach reading to a younger child and I’m thinking I could just use that? What do you think? And how essential is that review box? Thank you! This was a very helpful video, too.

Hmm…that’s a good question. I think if your kids really struggle with spelling, the letter tiles are helpful because they have different phonograms (vowel teams, different syllable types, etc.), and labels, all broken down that the kids practice during the lessons. If you make your own, then that would totally be fine, though! And honestly, if your kids are stronger spellers, you could probably go without, and just kind of talk through the concepts or write them on a board. Some kids just learn better touching and moving the letters I think, so this will depend on your kids 💜 You could always try without and see how it goes! The box is a helpful way to organize your cards…I bet you could find a cheaper box somewhere if you wanted to, but I would definitely get something to use for card organization. I think on another video someone told me they found something at the dollar store they used!

Do you mean All About Reading? We used that when my kids were younger; all the levels with my oldest son. I’m undecided if I’ll use it with my youngest yet! For All About Spelling we’ll start Level 3 soon with my girls 😊
