Man, I'm blown away by this masterclass - this is the sort of thing that helps make Homeskoolin the best guitar education channel ever. There are depths here that musicians of any level can learn from and appreciate. From this one short session of two masters of their craft speaking through their instruments, you could get a lifetimes' worth of musical wisdom - whether it's improving your soloing vocabulary, your writing, your understanding of chords and harmony or a million other things. Thank you, Tom and Bryan.

To just throw out, “ … was on stage with Billy Strings recently … “ AFTER mentioning touring with Bela Fleck? With no air of arrogance whatsoever, to share contrasting musical performances at the absolute highest level. Hats off to Mr. Sutton for being so damn personable! Thanks again, Tom, for your effort in sharing these understated, mini master-classes.

Damn.....some heavy musicality underneath some super sweet melodic playing. I've been a Sutton fan (as well as a Tom fan) for a long time. I'm in NC so Bryan was always on the local radar so to speak. A couple of acoustic guitars in the right hands is a beautiful thing. Certainly a great investment of 12 minutes.....great stuff.....

Just love it Tom when you get together with Bryan. What is so impressive is that you two have such a vast musical vocabulary immediately under your fingers. It is easy to technically understand what you discuss about the changes (something i can sort of do)....it is a universe way to have all that immediately at the ready. These videos ALWAYS produce amazement and admiration, but they also inspire to keep on working musically in my meager way,

This such a great freaking idea. There’s nothing quite like this on YT. I mean, there’s plenty of instructional guitar nonsense, but this is awesome. Got my guitar, tried to play the game with y’all. I can hear why my note choices ain’t quite getting it, without worrying trying to cop some dude’s style. Super cool.

This is pure gold. Sussing out those magical transitional notes when playing over changes is truly an art. Bryan is one of those players who is overflowing with ideas. I’m recovering from surgery on my right thumb, and that’s severely limited my picking. I’m finding that’s really become a blessing. Because I’m only able to play a few notes per measure, I’m suddenly able to play lines that I’m hearing in my head. It’s a real thrill to finally get a taste of what master improvisers can do. While Bryan was playing, I heard either alternative lines or notes that continued a phrase he played. At 70 years of age, it’s great to feel that this old dog is still teachable. Thanks guys for a 12:38 treasure trove of inspiration. By the way, one of my favorite two chord progressions is a minor 2 chord followed by a major 5 chord (“He’s So Fine”, “My Sweet Lord”, et al). Gets me every time.
