Greetings from the Pacific Northwest. Your pantry is so neat and organized. It's wonderful to see young people embracing gardening, canning, storing food and celebrating one's accomplishments with all of us. My ONLY suggestion is to get a microphone so we can hear you as the volume was very low in this video. Blessings to you and your family.

We always buy those big jugs of apple juice and they were on clearance for $3 at Walmart this week! Another lady and I split what was left and we each got 2. I reuse the bottles for so much storage. Also, gorgeous pantry. I'm dreaming of our future home and having a space like this!

We have the same shelving, but we put thin board on the shelves to allow more jars to fit without falling over. I would recommend you look into that. It would give you so much extra space. I love Mexican hot carrots too! My favorite!

I also have the same shelving and used wood laminate that was taken out of a house to replace with vinyl plank flooring. Two laminate planks cut to length of the shelves and snapped together works very well.

Really nice pantry. You guys did a good job. Totally jealous as I live in an apartment and don’t even have a small pantry. It’s funny in the last few years I think I want to move out to cities and live in the countryside. But I’ve lived in cities all of my life. The only little bit I know about country life is going to my grandparents. Now my grandmother had the best pantry set up and kitchen I’ve ever seen in my life. Both my grandparents are into doing all their own food. My grandmother had two kitchens. Her main kitchen had two stoves. One was a large natural gas range, and she also had an electric glass stove top. In the second kitchen, which he called, the prep kitchen, had huge large sinks in it, an old wood burning range, and two smokers, along with a charcuterie cabinet, huge butcher block table and large oak countertops, and tables. The prep kitchen had a bunch of doors one went into a 10‘ x 10‘ room, which my grandmother called her scullery. That’s where she would keep all of her canning and copper pots for jam, making and that kind of stuff. Then she had another room a little bit bigger, which was her pantry where she stored nothing but food there was a door that led into the main kitchen and another door that lead out on to, the side Garden and patio. Our favourite door mind you was the door in the floor, which led down into the root cellar. The root cellars, are all made out of natural stone granite. The first root cellar was a complete dry cool root cellar. The second root cellar was a dump root cellar. My grandfather set up a water feature, so it would keep moisture in the air. Used to love playing down there when we were kids and helping ourselves to some of the fruit that was stored down there. About 12 years ago my grandparents put an extension onto the side of the house and built a large walk-in fridge and walk-in freezer. When it comes to the end of days, I just have to try and make it to my grandparents where I could survive comfortably lol.

I like that although you store mostly foods you grow yourself, you admit that you do BUY certain things. I like that you have small sections of both _bulk items & STORE BROUGHT ones!_ And I like how your not _tripping_ over having loads of LONG TERM food storage since you have a garden, obviously canning equipment, a sealer & access to a freeze dryer! (I'm assuming you have a stand alone freeze too?) You can save all that money to 'pay bills' and buy other items you can't make, i.e... toiletries, hygiene items, soap powder and any garden items you need. Beautifully cleaned pantry by the way, lol!

You just gave me an idea. I’m just learning canning and wondered where I’ll store my goods. The shelf in the utility room is too warm. Forgot about the shelves in my grow room (the extra bedroom). Plenty of space on these shelves and the right temperature since it’s under AC. Duhhhh! And I forgot to mention how beautiful is your pantry

I love that you turned a not usable space into something so incredibly usable! What a beautiful pantry room you have. Just an interesting fact that I thought was interesting is that in the state I live in you cannot use a room that does not have two exits as a bedroom it is illegal. You must have a door and a window or it cannot be used to sleep in so way to go on creating something amazing!

you lucky bugger on the size of your pantry!! i'd take a few bungies and strap them to the sides of those selves though to make sure nothing falls off them, make the bungie into a stopper, so if something rattles around for one reason or another, nothing comes crashing down. also those shelves anchored to the wall? ....canning jars...as long as they are kept cool and in a dark place, they can last YEARS!!! and you can look this up, there was a sunk ship that they pulled canned jars out of the water 100 years after the ship sank, waited a few more years before opening the jars, tested them! and they were proven to still be able to eat. Lab tested, meaning they went through "ok does it have e.coli or any other food born bacteria in it." Nope, it is safe to eat. even 100 years later. now, does that mean it looked good to eat? maybe not. but still can eat it.
@bakerhillfarm

How long does it take you to go through the raw veggies before they start to spoil?

Depends in what it is. The winter squash and sweet potatoes will last months. What is at the store is already months old.
