i loved tourtured whole and was completely blown away by this new one, its just nonstop big dumb riffs and slams and its a ton of fun

I agree, Tortured Whole was fine IMO (3/5) but I didn’t find myself returning to it much. Homicidal Ecstasy is a step up and definitely more mature. I’m feeling 3.5 on first listen but I could see it going to a 4. Great review as always.

I'm with you. I didn't liked first album, it was rather weak brutaldeath, but the follow up is pretty damn great! Just change in guitarist lead to such improvement, who would've thought.

Tortured Whole will always have a special place in my heart since it was one of the albums, along with Frozen Soul's debut, that made me try death metal AGAIN...and this time was a 100% accurate shot.

Completely agree that this album is a huge improvement. The last album was fine, but it got lost in the sea of other OSDM releases for me. Homicidal Ecstacy is easily my favorite release this week.

I wouldn't say Massive or Colossal Improvement but this feels and sounds like it was handled with more care

Had the exact same thoughts as you. I couldn’t get into tortured whole - no matter how hard I tried, and even though I wanted to. But this album was easy, loved right off the start. Bought it first thing this morning

Here’s my take. Objectively? Definitely a better album buuut imo what made Tortured Whole so great for me was it’s tongue in cheek attitude. They kinda had their own niche in that. With this album they’re much more in line with bands that mentioned like Undeath and 200 stab wounds buuut simply aren’t as great songwriters as those bands. So while I still really like this new album, instead of thriving in their own pocket of the death metal scene right now, they threw themselves with the more “serious” sounding bands and simply can’t keep up imo… at least for now. I really like the album though I’d say Tortured Whole is an 8/10 and this a 7/10. Super killer riffs and grooves but just wish the structuring was more catchy and memorable (like in tortured whole). I agree though objectively a more mature album! Great review brother

I listened to the single Face Ripped Off and the vocals sounded like Chris Barnes during his tenure in Cannibal Corpse without his EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

Boring 1st album but this new one is fucking amazing in my top 10 dm albums of all time

I gotta be honest, I was completely on board with this band after their demo was released and thought they absolutely deserved the hype they were getting. That changed a bit with the debut as I could not get over the drum "ping" but I did love the diversity in the vocal delivery. Another big downfall of that album was the guitar riffs didn't really do anything for me. Now that I've listened to this new album, I gotta say I'm not really that impressed. Although they got rid of the drum "ping", the vocal delivery isn't as diverse and seems really monotone throughout the album with the exception of maybe 2 songs. The riffs still aren't there either. I'll continue to follow this band but I don't think their next album will be an immediate preorder for me.

One of my favorite dm bands ever is Rippikoulu and Sanguisugabogg fills that same caveman guttural need. I predict their next album will be even better than this one.

Missing the pinch harmonics, pingy BDM tight-snare (at least here & there) but most importantly, the sense of humor. I prefer the last one & IMO best 2 songs are the last song & 2 songs from the last.

I know I said I wouldn't watch anymore after the last video I watched when you kind of made me listen to Dungeon Wolf. Well you really didn't but I'm blaming you anyway. But we need more forgiveness in this world or me stop blaming others for my own failings. If I'm being honest the later will never happen. Anyway glad I watched. Yea this album is killer and if I didn't watch your video I would have missed it. So thanks. Not yet over the Dungeon wolf shit video but this was a good start.
