Replacing power antenna mast on my 1995 Honda Accord.. Repair required removal of motor assembly to remove broken portion of raise/lower teethed cable.. Info should apply to any older Honda/Acura with a power antenna.. Antenna mast that I use in repair is listed as being compatible with 92 Honda Accord models from 1990-1997.. You can find them cheaper but this one is stainless steel as opposed to aluminum..

This should fit your 2000 Integra.. It's not the same one used in the video but it's from the same eBay seller that I bought mine from: www.ebay.com/itm/330666289482?fits=Submodel%3ALS%7CYear%3A2000%7CModel%3AIntegra%7CMake%3AAcura&hash=item4cfd3f294a:g:regAAOSwnw9Z~NL1&amdata=enc%3AAQAIAAAA8M289A%2FjAclaH1u9YGSbdoTfDUrwDWaLQUFZAIe1%2FwOp0dKIKM1323loAr%2BW2Yc%2FTKFZiIWfVKvKIehH7wuiFtdNli%2Fo2bq2T%2B2Ioiaypcev2w2ZQSpUrrj5w%2FnHAqVoNIl0Rx%2BTVmLHpY8OADwR3w9dZLTvUzg4lO3Z19qHEUdfIT%2Fxtwr9gjULs1Z6QKv0F2FMA2mA4UMuPl0pz5yTAy2n9gic38lMcowZ4EM2tT7irp982aN7X22lt2qXpSu5GZy89Ee%2BsfivA1%2FQ4ULyUGP7NKI%2F2NmxDTHb%2BWT%2BrmSo2s8ew6%2BIXlyB%2FkQiHUGySA%3D%3D%7Ctkp%3ABk9SR_qpmcqoYg#vi-desc-maincntr

Hello PeanutButter Man. This is the 70 woman who was going to attempt to install an antenna with the help of your video. Well, it went great. Thank you. Of course the cord broke off but with diligence I got the motor out and apart. I only needed to call for help when it came to actually putting the new antenna in. I needed someone to raise it and lower it. I called over a neighbor who, being a man, insisted on the install part while I raised and lowered it. All good because since I watched the video I got to show him how it was done. I of course made mistakes, like putting the carpets back in. I did them in the wrong order. Oops. But now I know in case anyone needs help in the neighborhood. Lol. Thanks again. I’m sort of proud.

For my 93' Acura Integra LS hatchback, I didn't have any issues. Getting to the motor, removing panels & brackets is never fun, but I just watched the video then watched it again while stopping with each step, did the work, finished up & even utilized the bleach suggestion. I didn't want to buy a tub of bearing grease so I used a little Vaseline. It did take several 'ups & downs' for the antenna to start retracting fully ... Thank you!

Thanks for the overview. You were lucky. I wasn't. The sleeve on the old antenna mast was corroded into the aluminum tube. I have been told that I could just remove the sleeve from the new mast, and insert it into the old sleeve that is stuck in the aluminum tube. But, I can't seem to remove the end cap on the new mast in order to remove its sleeve. I have put many hours into this project and have not gave up yet. I bought the new mast from The Antenna source, so I hope they will bet back to me on how to remove the end cap.... Pray for me folks.

THIS is the video you want to watch if your are (trying to) doing this... The inside of the trunk info gave me confidence to do that removal without worrying about anything SPRINGING ALL OVER THE PLACE!! And the "grease" the inside part is good advice. I spent an hour messing with it today and I did not complete job, but I am used to that dealing with these 94-97 Hondas, the "most pain in the butt" car to work on I have ever dealt with. Everything about these cars is a puzzle wrapped in a riddle corroded on to a surprise which is rusted on to a part which has to be ordered along with the special tool it takes to... grrrrrrr!

This video showed me the way... but it turns out my mast was not actually broken, it just did not go up and down the way it should. I took several tries messing with it.... but I did finally "fix it", or as close as I was going to come. Someday I may post video of the footage I captured as I did this project (on my video page) but for now (watch PBMAN'S VIDEO, it is good) and maybe reading my story/tips below will help others. I ordered and bought a new mast online assuming I needed it because it would only go up about 12 inches (about half way up in 2 sections... the rest of the sections were stuck) and it would come down leaving 3-4 inches up. I tried and tried and tried to lube it all up and pull the mast all the way out, but it was NOT going to come all the way out... and it never did.... BUT... in the mean time as I was spraying the outside of the metal mast with lube... and as I removed the entire mechanism from the trunk.... and with another persons help I tried my best to pull the mast all the way out... and it would NOT come!!! So I opened the bottom part of the mechanism (from the trunk) exposing the plastic teeth strip (which to my surprise the strip was not broken). So I used the white grease (I forget the correct name) to lube up the teeth and shoved/pulled that part into the inside of the mast... which I guess lubed up the inside of the metal mast and AGAIN WE TRIED PULLING IT ALL THE WAY OUT!!!! AND IT WOULD NOT COME OUT!!! 25 years of rust.... STUCK!!! I almost pulled out the drill... but...I relaxed... The good new is I did not destroy or bend the mast and amazingly, as I said fk it "we will try this again another day", as we were putting it all back together... apparently all the lubing and pulling up and and pushing down and pulling up etc.... and low and behold...THE ORIGINAL MAST GOES ALMOST ALL THE WAY UP!! And it goes all the way down... simply by turning the radio off and on. Mainly it could pull in the radio stations again.... So I decided that was good enough. All it needed was lubed. I was/am happy it was not broken. The moral to my story is... as I said above "watch PBMAN's video to see how to remove the mechanism in the trunk" and pull it out. Take a look inside and if the teeth plastic part is not broken maybe all it needs some white grease (which will lube the inner part of the mast... and some spray lube on the outside... and spend some time running it up and down over and over... maybe all it needs is lube. Maybe all it needs is lube (inside and out)~~~~~~~that's what she said ;)

Excellent tutorial! I installed the new antenna and it clicks a few times when turned off and on at the very end. The old one broke off years ago but I’m guessing the plastic teeth thingy is too long or not long enough? would that be an accurate assessment?

@tongo117
@tongo117 5 лет назад
it should go down a little farther each time you turn radio on/off until it bottoms out.. that's what mine did.. probably took 4 or 5 on/off cycles till it was down all the way.. if that's not happening maybe take it apart and reinstall..
@ritchiestrickland5569

Absolutely do not use wheel bearing Grease. Wheel bearing grease is a petroleum product and will eat up the plastic overtime. Wheel bearing grease is used for metal Parts not plastic. Use a silicone base grease or silicone spray is just fine. I use silicone spray to lubricate and what clean the antenna. I suggest cleaning your antenna once every 6 months.. again do not use any type of petroleum-based products to lubricate the plastic parts
