If you are having an issue with a radio power antenna that will not fully go up or down and the motor continues to run then most likely the mast will need a replacement. In this video we are working on a fourth generation Nissan Maxima 1995-1999 with a radio power antenna mast that needs a replacement to be properly repaired. Great tip with the pliers, it reminds me of the antennas on the early Hyundai's that I used to work on.

Oh Glen how this brings back memories! I worked on Nissans for 20 years and remember this problem vividly. We used to charge .3 to free up and lube if possible or take it apart as you are doing. Good vid. as usual.

I remember when Cadillac buried the antenna wire inside the windshield glass in 70's. Wasn't the best idea but looked cool

@@ozzstars_cars Yep, GM did quite a few models in that era. I had a 72 Rally Nova that had it in the windshield and you’re right that it wasn’t smart thinking.

Anyone know of a video showing how to wire the power feed to a new antenna unit? In other words, severing the power connector wires from the original harness and wiring it up directly to the wires of the new unit? I can’t find anything online or here.

Hello, thank you for the video, my broken antenna came out just like you showed but when I went to put in the new one it will not go back in the hole. I’m confused.

Is the plastic strip in the correct orientation? The motor should wind it in.

@@ozzstars_cars yes , the cord went down, just fine, the original metal antenna popped out no problem with sleeve, when I put the new one in the cord went down just fine, but when it got to the butt of the metal of the antenna, it did not go down into the hole at all, it needs to go down about 3 inches for me to get the nut back on the chamber. The antenna looks exactly like the old one ordered from eBay, they said exact fit. 1998 Infiniti Q 45. Thank you.

@@vcridesphotography sometimes it gently needs to be persuaded and pushed a little bit. You did trim the plastic tooth piece to the same size like shown in the video, correct?

It's a bigger PIA on the C4 that's for sure. I don't always use lube but when I do It's water based. Haha

I just broke mine in half going through the car wash. 02 qx4. I ordered a oem original just now on ebay. I noticed the metal of where it broke is on that bolt or screw. Should I buy that part too? I was told the right front fender has to come off.

the fender can stay but the flex cover behind the wheel is awkward to disconnect . several easy screws and one pop off in the middle of the cover, took me awhile to find it then things are getting easier. now to get the motor out. with wheel off easier but I can't do that so lots of bending (me) and it should come off. great video for rear but mine is left front.
