5 minutes into the video, I'm an hour into working on this, and now I find out that I have to do a bunch of wire cutting and soldering and lord knows what else. I appreciate the information in this video but man I wish that you could have mentioned that this would be necessary before I had gotten started on this project. I thought it was just going to be a matter of taking out the old radio and connecting the new one. I saw a 15 minute video and thought it wouldn't take much longer than that. Boy was I wrong, this is a whole afternoon of work...

Upgrading any radio is not as simple as plug and play. Unless you are going factory to factory, even then it may need some wiring. It is aftermarket so it does need to be rewired for it to work. I always recommend adapter harnesses like I use as it makes it easier to rewire without many issues tho you still need to make the connections with but connectors and a crimper. Either way it does take some work, this is one of the easiest ones I've done! trust me, some are real pain to do.

Were did you wire the illumination wire if the aftermarket radio harness doesn’t have it
@esqu3l3to
@esqu3l3to 5 лет назад
If the new radio doesnt have ilumination then you dont connect it. All radios that I have seen do have it.

How do you get the bolt by the glovebox out? I couldn't get it.
@esqu3l3to
@esqu3l3to 5 лет назад
there should be two of them, I simply held up the glove box up enough to allow the screw driver to reach the screw. Top one will be accessible by having the glove box open.

The adapter harness or the which? I will get you some links to tbose and the dash kit. This car already had a radio installed when I bought it so I didn't have to get it.

After I connected mine (dual din) it drains my battery and doesn’t turn off automatically when I turn off my car. Even when I turn off the radio I think it’s draining my battery. Do you have any suggestions on what to disconnect to fix to prevent this issue?
@esqu3l3to
@esqu3l3to 3 года назад
Sounds like you have your power wires backwards. There are two power wires, a yellow (constant 12v) and red (ignition - only powers when car is on). Make sure they are connected correctly to the new radio. If you have them backwards it keep power going to the radio even after you turn your car off. Do you know what I mean? Did you use an adapter harness when you installed your double din?

I am having trouble trying to take out the clime control plug as well as the other two. How did you do this? because I’m stuck here.
@esqu3l3to
@esqu3l3to 4 года назад
watch at 4:03 I show/tell how you unplug them. All you need to disconnect are the top three, all have a small tab you need to depress in order to release and remove. If you are needing to repmove the assembly from the dash then there are several phillip screws you would need to removed at the back side. Also, if you need to remove the metal side brackets to secure the radio or sleve you can also remove them by removind the phillip screws. Hope this helps, anything else let me know.

@esqu3l3to 4 года назад
If you know the factory wires and what they are (power, ground, speaker etc) you can re-pin the adapter harness. What adapter harness did you buy?
@joseamayalosa8012
@joseamayalosa8012 2 года назад
Where did you find the factory amp loctation? My radio says amp error thought it was my subwoofer amp that messed up but I unplugged it bought a new radio an it still says amp error .
@esqu3l3to
@esqu3l3to 2 года назад
Mine did not have a factory amp. It may be located in various places like under the front seat, in the hatch behind the panel covers. Did you hookup the amp turn on wire for your sub and oem amp? Blue/white wire
@johnlord7003
@johnlord7003 4 года назад
instead of two blue wires, i only have one black one. IS that ok?
@esqu3l3to
@esqu3l3to 4 года назад
Yes thats ok, the blue wires are usually for amp/antenna power. Your vehicle may not have them so therefore your harness will not have them either. The year and model will also dictate what wires your car has.

@9illed_843 Год назад
quick question? can u use the radio harness again? the oldone ??
@esqu3l3to
@esqu3l3to Год назад
Yes you can, the adapter harness can be reused. For some radios, the harhess is also the same. You can resused both and not have to rewire your cennections. Just makre sure to check all wires that they match cerrectly.

first check your fuse, then check that your connections are correct for the yellow, red, and black wires. Did you rewire the new radio or use the old wire harness from the previous radio?

Hey wondering if anyone knows what the whole black outer part that you pull off is called?? Mines kinda broken
@esqu3l3to
@esqu3l3to 4 года назад
That would be your climate control/radio trim. You can google it or call honda dealer for part number then do a search to find a replacement and good price.
@DalWoe
@DalWoe 4 года назад
Esqu3l3to I actually found it by searching up radio bezel climate control and found the perfect one but about $80-$100 without shipping included and still having to wait weeks. Today i went to a pick and pull junkyard and got sooo lucky to find a whole unbolted and unparted car with the whole radio climate control on it just needed to be unplugged from wires. Honestly a big steal for only $70.

I changed my Radio. Connect wires with Matching colors. Now it doesnt work. Fuse is ok. Radio just doesnt turn on
@esqu3l3to
@esqu3l3to 5 лет назад
did you check the fuse on the new radio? other than that I would also check the red, yellow and black ground wire to make sure all are not loose. Not sure if you used a butt connector or other type to connect the wires. If you have a multimeter I would start by checking ground wire first, then checking the red (switched) and yellow (battery) wires.
@marvinsoflo
@marvinsoflo 5 лет назад
@@esqu3l3to yes. The radio fuse is 15 and its good. The red yellow and Black wires are connected good. I match all the colors. The wires even have the little writing labels on em
@esqu3l3to
@esqu3l3to 5 лет назад
If you have a multimeter, start checking your power wires on the pins of the new radio harness. I would also try grounding the radio straight to metal frame.

Have you tried making sure the wire harness is properly pushed in? I know on one of the install I had done the harness wasnt all the way into the socket and it madr the radio turn off randomly or not at all.
