xtrm333 glad you enjoyed it. The R18 is a great engine. If you haven’t done already please consider subscribing for more honda content. I do plan on doing more videos on the mk8 civic range
Hello, that is clearly a personal choice as to which is better. I personally will never own a diesel car. So if i had to choose it would be the 1.8 petrol
I'm looking at buying this generation of Civic. How does the Type S (stock) suspension compare to Type R and other more standards model? (ES, EX etc) I'd probably choose comfort over sharp handling, but these cars look a lot better with body coloured wheel arches.
Hiya Dan, the Type S uses the same suspension on the base model Civic, the Type S is just a sportier trim level. There are no performance additions over the base model. This generation of Civic does have a firm but progressive suspension. If you can get yourself a Type S GT like this one, it will have a few more creature comforts over the base Type S. Hope this helps and answers your question
S Mz its a bit of a bodge if im honest, u buy a fn2 type r gear gaitor, a hybrid racing shift boot collar. And u just tuck the gaitor under the trim. The proper way to do it is buy a complete fn2 set up but the trim finish is different
Hi there, with regrets the car had already been colour coded before he bought, however yes for the best finish you would want to take the parts off to be painted. There is another option though, bit more expensive but your Honda parts dept can order you colour coded skirts and wheel arches to fit.
@@ExpressionCulture Thanks for the answer mate. I was really wondering if I'd have to get the car up on a jack to get them off? to get them clean? But if you don't know then it's cool 👌
Not in the euro spec no, the type s was available on the mk7 and mk8. All mk9 euro specs are 5 door. The had the Sport and SR trim on the Mk9 which was a sportier trim level
Hi there, yes the mugen style spoilers fit the 3dr and 5dr model. Depending on the manufacturer of the spoiler, it may have studs around the middle of the base to aid mounting. You can either remove the studs or youll need to drill mounting holes in the boot lid. Most of them do not come with these studs however i thought id make you aware incase they do. But yes it will fit.
Sadly thats something you’ll likely experience with a VW. Honda and Toyota are in my opinion (and many others) the most reliable cars on market. The FN1 Type S is a great car. The R18 feels really good for what it is. Hope you find a Type S for yourself 😊
Good morning I have a type a-line.i recently went to the alignment stand there saying I need a ball joint however I have to buy the entire control arm . Why is that so?
dwayne foster regretfully on this generation of civic that is correct. Some models are only supplied with ball joint already in the arm. Honda isnt the only manufacturer to do this. You may be able to find a aftermarket parts supplier and have the new ball joint pressed into your old control arm
Not hugely rare when they was in production. This Type S GT was much rarer. As the years have gone by the mk8 civic are starting to show their age when not looked after, so numbers of these on the road are starting to fall
Funny you say that, that was one of the first things i told him when he bought the car. He did want to remove it and fit a Type R spoiler. Thankfully i convinced him.
ManDown they can be pretty good. Your looking around 42mpg and approx 460 miles to a tank, these obviously depend on driving style and road conditions. But yes in my opinion they are good on fuel with a good amount of power for a daily car. Please consider subscribing to the channel. Ill be doing more mk8 civic videos
@@ExpressionCulture subscribed! I live very close a city and I've been reading a variety of opinions, some people say the fuel efficiency is very good and others say not to good.
ManDown thank you very much, everyone gets different figures. Ive tried to be fair by giving you lab figures, as well as my opinion and facts that driving style and road conditions can cause they to very. If you want a much more economical mk8 civic type s maybe consider the 1.4, although there is a massive difference in power between the 1.4 and 1.8
