Honda's E-Clutch is a customizable system allowing riders to switch between traditional and automated clutch operation. When active, it automates clutch engagement and disengagement for smooth gear changes, even from a standstill. Riders still control shifts and throttle, retaining some manual feel.
Honda's system analyzes various parameters for seamless shifts and even manages engine timing and fuel injection during clutch operations. The compact system weighs less than 5 pounds and can be turned off. Currently in CBR650R and CB650R models, it may trickle down to more affordable bikes in the future.
Overall, E-Clutch offers a unique solution for hesitant automatic adopters in the motorcycle world, providing convenience while preserving some of the traditional manual experience

Very similar to the BMW Shift Assist Pro except that with the E-clutch you don't have to pull in the clutch lever at a stop. Without having tried the E-clutch I can't say if it is as responsive as the BMW SAP, but the SAP really lets you rip through gears faster than you could possibly do manually.

I have a BMW with SAP.. not the same at all. The SAP just retards the engine output to remove load from the gears to allow a shift, then returns power. it is far from smooth, but it does work well.

ok, I own a CBR650R 2022 model in India. And I have a Quickshifter installed. As per my view, this is a great new tech, but not worth the upgrade. Yes, Good for new customers! But, there is a catch, The CBR650R is a RAW bike, with only single level of Traction control. So, practically, this upgrade is negligible for an existing user. However, If there were riding modes, with different levels of traction control and whole bunch of software enhancement and electronics, then it would have been a great upgrade for me. For now, I have clocked 15K km on my 2022 CBR650R, and I am not missing anything as such. (Kawasaki Fan boys, I know that you will start ranting about Z900, keep going 😅 it doesn't matter to me, I have my own likes and dislikes 😂)

What a cool technology! I believe it will also be lighter (and probably cheaper) to use instead of a DCT.

It only weights about 2kg and is a perfect middle ground between manual and automatic transmission.

Sounds like companies are wanting to move towards automatic transmissions. This is the first step I see. I love manual it just feels right to me. But, if automatic transmissions get more butts on a motorcycle I'm all in.

All this technology, to use as you choose or not, for just an extra £100 on UK list price? Absolute bargain!

Are you speaking hypothetically? Or have YOU personally ridden the new Honda model with E-clutch? Because unless you have you should not sing it's actual praises ....except with honest disclaimer

I want it on CB1000 but even if Honda provides that option very soon I may still have to turn my nose up at the model because it lacks a FRAME MOUNTED instrument cluster and headlight ....Honda just bolted all that onto the FORKS....very poor engineering IMHO particularly if one wants to add a real windscreen because then it is like a sail bolted to the handlebars
