I CAN'T believe this LIGHT came on in my car. Drove with no steering! And i was able to reset the light, thank god... My Instagram: / gerb_productions #k20z3 #hondata #nosteering
bro!! be extremely careful when that EPS light comes on!! Im in Canada and had a 2007 fg2 exactly like yours. I had a transmission swap and a new clutch installed and 300kms(186miles) later that light came on while i was driving. i parked tried resetting the battery and the light stayed on. so i left to drive home and 5 minutes later my EPS went again(loss ppwer assist like you did) and the steering wheel jammed all the way to the right flew right out of my hands doing 30mph and head on into a tree. total loss. found out when you take the rack out to drop the transmission when you reinstall the rack you need to recalibrate your torque/speed sensors. one in your steering wheel and one of the rack and pinion itself. also the EPS motor reads information from all sensors such as ABS, wheel speed etc. so check all those sensors as well. ive been watching your channel since day one, and in the past 3 months youve helped me so much fixing my second 07 FG2. figured id give you a tid bit of my experience on this situation. if it comes back on park it bro and get a tow! Be safe 🤙🤘
what an ordeal but glad you gained something from it. I have a VSA problem and although it isn't as severe as the EPS it is still a pain to have that light on all the time.
I did clutch and trans work fixed problems but after few sensors went bad and makes a crazy noise when i turn to car full left turn i wanna do everything before i replace whole rack steering is only stiff when i turn left
Thank you for the awesome info and continuous support! I’m hoping my issue is something small, but I’ll definitely keep all of you posted if the issue persist. I am sorry for your loss buddy. I will be as safe as I can with this sketchy electric issue 👎🏼
I have a 2013 Accord LXE . Seems like same issues. Brought it to the dealer. The gear box had failed. The gear box is covered by the manufacturer for 13 years. So I do not have to pay a dime. So bring it to a dealer.
This happened to my friend’s brz 2 days as well dude ! Out of no where he can start his car but his power steering is locked so is his windows as well. He can still start the car and put it in gears tho, we have no clue what was going on. We even tried disconnecting the battery and reconnecting it, yet it still didnt work. At the end we got it towed to the dealer. Anyways happy memorial day
The electric steering goes out in a lot of them . I have a 2014 Honda Accord and I have to disconnect the battery and let it sit overnight to reset itself then it will start turning. So if you google it you will see there’s hundreds of complaints about it and Honda will not do a recall!!!!! So dangerous to be driving on the interstate and loose steering. I think we need to hire a attorney and do something about it!!!

He’s complaining about driving without power steering 😂 back in the day the first thing we did on 88-00 Honda’s was removed the a/c and power steering to add hp had to make room for my intercooler and turbo 😆
Just happened to me, and did not lock up,it got hard to steer but my 1964 Beetle was harder by default so no big deal ! it fixed itself after driving a few miles.
I currently have this problem with a 2007 Honda Fit. I can get the light to shut off and power steering to resume by TURNING THE HEADLIGHTS ON! Seriously, I think its on the same relay. Going to replace the relay to confirm when I get around to it...right now it works.
Same on mine now! I replaced the eps fuse and when i flash my highbeams on, it'll turn off most of the time. Definitely some relay or electrical issue.
Dude i have been driving mine with no power for over a year now. I changed the eps module as well the motor and harness and my shit still don't work. On the bright side i stay buff working the steering wheel.
@@TheGerbsteve lmao. Bro just give it like two days of city driving and you will be driving with no PS will feel like it is working. I always drove ef civic/crx so im used to the no PS. You will get it my man just be patient.

I just fixed 2016 Honda Civic with steering wheel light on. A problem was that you have to have a car to lean when it's steering wheel in straight position. But you have to have a better scanner than this.
I have the Honda Civic 2012, and I have a 10 hours roadtrip, after I just oil change, reset the TMPS, and the steering light comes again when I had 2 hours on the Highway, it was freak me out!!! Fortunately, there weren't lots of car, and I parked on the Highway, use a little trick to make the light away, ( when u started the engine, meanwhile you turn ur steering wheel hard, it will save you for a little bit, it will normally running fine for some hours) BUT, I drive the car to the Auto repair to check what exactly happened. OMG, I am so scared if the wheel locked again on the highway. all cars going like 65-80 miles. and I stuck in the hotel room right now waiting for the store labor comes back tomorrow.
Hey question did you fix it? If yes how much they charge you. Because I have the same problem now. I went to a special place and told me maximum charge arpund 1,000 dolres.
About the sketchy rack-n-pinion steering you demonstrated with the car stationary - OF COURSE!!!! If you are rolling, rack-n-pinion is much smoother. You youngsters act like rack-n-pinion steering is dark ages of driving when you have to work for the basics. Yes, most power-steering systems default to manual and it is hard. But it isn't dangerous unless you just can't physically turn the wheel. Sketchy? No, High _________ factor, probably. Or colloquially. I'm glad someone mentioned to you the dielectric grease you wiped off your contacts was intentionally place there. It reduces oxidation thereby preserving contact surfaces - in non-sketchy terms, it means your contacts stay well connected longer and better that without it. It is cheap insurance for a poor connection. I'm also glad that someone mentioned the point of driving for miles after the battery disconnect to reset your ECM codes related to the car's "status". I learned to drive on rack and pinion steering tractors. With the heavy traction weights on the front (keeps the tractor from popping up when you lift your implements in the back, yes the engine is heavy but not as heavy as something cantilevered behind the tractor) the rack and pinion really gets stiff. Man-up! Even my mother, a tiny 5'3 woman drove that tractor. She didn't like to, it wore her out, but she could drive it for hours if the work had to be done. Sketchy, LOL
I replaced the rack on my 2006 when it was in the mid to upper 250,000 range. That car went to 465,000 and never threw a sensor code, ever. It is still running. My friend has it but it has electrical issues. they are her electrical issues now. Man, i loved that car! I did end up buying a 2013 and i still have my 2005 which is about to hit 243,000. None of them are Si's. I just drive too many miles a day for my job to be pumping premium gas. I am praying to God for a type R, tho :D

I have a 2015 Honda Accord LX 2.4 and had front struts, sway bar and lower ball joints replaced as well as outer tie rods but I hear the strut springs popping when I turn sometimes at low speeds someone told me to redo lower ball joints and someone else said it's rack and pinion
I drive an acoord sport with 2000 miles and have similar issues. There's no power steering at low speeds, as in city traffic and parking. Feels as if the steering engages and turns into power steering only at higher speeds. The dealer had to replace my rack but I still have the same problem. Any suggestions?
Check out your lemon laws in your area. Keep bringing it back and in a certain amount of time they have to take the car back at full price. NH is three times in a years time for the same issue within a year of ownership.
Rack and pinion. Have the whole module checked and relearned. Go to a honda dealer bro. Shitttt...happened to mine but after paying a lot its back to normal

@@DanikDontPanik Yeah? My EPS sometimes occasionally doesn't work. I just turn key off/on then I hear a click from my EPS control unit. Ever hear that click come from the passenger side right side foot panel?
@@DanikDontPanik Yeah I cant narrow down what is causing my issue. I was told by Honda my EPS module was replaced due to recall, but not the rack. I swear my module is fualty but they say it isn't due to the recall replacement.
I have the same problem in my vios 2010...mechanic t0ld me to change new eps module..but still the problem is still there and then they replace again the rock end pinion all new but still the problem is there.pls help wat im going to do😢😢😢
wouldn't be a speed sensor because that plays no part in steering assembly, abs may come on if its a tone ring with a sensor behind the wheel hub. But speed sensors don't generally affect electric power steering racks. Also not to mention your wasting time pulling an EPS fuse and disconnecting battery for issues like these. If the light comes on for power steering, and you have no power steering... Then likely an issue which is why it came up in the first place. Clearing cells and disconnecting battery wont do anything in todays automotive industry.. Why is that?? Because ECM's and PCM's have logged information with history. While check engine or other warning lights may not come up. That does not mean there is a stored code, and some scan tools will discover this after clearing cells as possible fault codes. After X amount of miles its either (yes still an active fault code) or (no everything is good) clearing the stored codes and no warning lights come up. PCM's after 2012 have history logging. In event of a totaled accident, the feds have tools for running investigations to see your last speed up to 30 seconds prior to totaling out a vehicle. Sounds nuts.... But a long term friend of mine has a nephew who killed a pastor in a wreckless car accident. After investigation they found out he was doing 123mph before impact. All from scanning the PCM....... In a Hellcat Charger.
All electric bro, no fluid. EPS stands for “electric power steering.” I would rather have regular power steering over electric though, way cheaper and just as reliable.
Bro! Not a bad thing! Just delete power steering... Ive been contemplating that for a while now, i have some crazy bump steer on the highway. I might do my front struts and top hats first though....
@@battlefielding yes but once you are moving it is easier. Ive actually had an older car that didnt even come with power steering so you just have to give yourself room to start driving before you have to turn like at a stop sign, stop a little earlier so you can drive forward then turn. @@TheGerbsteve Civics from 2012 and forward are using an electric power steering system. The rack and pinion was a tough part to get, dealer had to get it. It costed about $1,600. (Ouch) my battery and alternator were weak too so i had to change them as well. Those I'd recommend you get them your self.
Can anyone help me? I have a 8th gen si, when I turn all the way to the right or left. I hear humming. I was told it’s the power steering pump…but I thought there’s no pump and sis are all electric steering?
Change the car battery. EPS draws a ton of current when working. And it pulls it from the battery because the alternator cannot supply enough current to EPS and the rest of the car alone. The symptom of it clearing in 5 minutes suggests the alternator has charged the battery back up for the EPS to work again and it cleared and released. I have the same problem too from time to time...
This is really reassuring to read! I recently lost EPS briefly 3 times while idling in a drive-thru. Cleaned and lubricated the battery terminals - one was a bit loose - and haven’t had problems since. I’ve barely been driving lately and was only 5 minutes from my house so I thought maybe I was just having battery charge issues. Crossing my fingers and my pocketbook!

Gerb has the most unreliable Honda on earth. Every video or two something breaks or has to be replaced. It’s not even at 200K miles yet. My 9th Gen just hit 71K miles (2013) I’ve had the entire sunroof tracking and sensors have to be replaced ($1.5K), Window motors, door locking switch. Not too bad but I will have to fix my second/third gear synchros soon. The grind happens with all generations I don’t think the 10th has that issue though. But stock the clutch on these cars is absolutely garbage.
If you have a grind issue its not the clutch itself, change the clutch master and slave! stock cmc has a weird limiting valve, if you change it you have to go after market and youll see the stock has a whole triangle part that is not on the after market one. That is the b.s. valve that honda put in.
I dont know about that. My 07 accord I bought Sept. 2017 only had 105k on it when I bought it. At the time I only drove it like 5 miles a day to work and back round trip. But it burned a little oil still. And the timing chain broke at 110k. So I had to get another head and timing set. I changed jobs and drive 68 miles a day now and it burns about a quart every 400 to 500 miles. But that's about the only problem I have. Which is kinda serious if you ask me. I saw a video about a guy using marvels mystery oil to free a piston ring So I'm gonna try that next and see if that helps. If it doesn't I'm gonna he looking for a wrecked tsx and swap motors
I bought it for $4,000, used. What do you expect? 200k? It’s 100k where stuff starts wearing out lol. 71k on yours, get ready for a new clutch soon 👍🏼. Next car I buy (Honda) is going to be from a dealership.
I have the same issue with my 2009 fg2, whenever I turn the car on the light came in, what I do to unlock it is that while the car is on, I disconnect the negative from the battery that way it reset itself! but is a nightmare because I turn off the car and turn it back in and it automatically showhd the same light! I'm thinking to sell my car for real! any solution?
Still battling the issue. It’s weird, mine doesn’t come on right when I start the car, it’s after I shut car off and then turn it back on, is when eps comes on. What is ELD?
Gerb “ELD” is electric load detector , in the fuse box (it’s actually under the black cover on the bottom of the fuse box) I haven’t done it yet but I will be doing it soon just to try it , I just watched your alternator video I was hoping it was a solution I’m amazed how fast you replied !!!! Thanks for the great content !!!
