In this video, I will walk you through my journey to get my Honda element to start. Lucky for you, if this is your problem, it will be fixed in about 5 minutes after watching this video.
2006 Honda element just had same issue with loose negative terminal..cleaned it w brush n contact cleaner, tightened terminal then pinched with vice grips while brother turned key to make sure...started right up. You just saved our ass...we were stranded in home Depot parking lot n bought tools
I have cleaned the battery terminal often, but still would happen. I then changed out neutral safety switch. I was stranded for about 45 minutes until it decided to turn on. I have since changed out starter. Hopefully this will work as this car is acting like a moody teenager. It's gonna work when it wants to.
My 2004 element acts like the battery is almost dead. I replaced the battery and everything was fine for two months or so and now it's doing the same thing. I'm able to start it but it acts like it's not going to start and if I don't drive it everyday it's dead. After driving it it starts right up. I could certainly try cleaning them, but does this sound like the same issue to you?
I was trying process of elimination. The car had power. When I turned the key, dash lights were on but no click when I tried to start. So I thought let’s work through the process. Though it could have been two things. Could be the relay not transmitting the signal to the starter or it could have been the ignition switch not sending a signal to the relay or the starter Hanged out both and that was not the problem. Dirty battery terminals did not give my starter the 12 volts it needed to turn over and start. Always clean your battery terminals and cables every now and then.
