How to fix your Honda Element that won't start! | K24 Honda Engine
Here is a common issue with any Honda with a K24 engine.
Symptoms:
*Not starting
*Slow to crank
*Only cranks one time
*Dash lights dim while trying to crank
*OBD2 codes: ABS 66-1, ABS 67-1
Solutions:
*First check the large 50A fuse in the fuse panel under the hood, actually remove it with a Philips head screw driver to check for corrosion, pull the top off and check to make sure the fuse is not blown, re-install (this is an easy check, and it free to do)
*Check the starter relay under the steering column (its the relay on the left).
*Check the Check the Ignition Starter switch (this part does go out and its a common problem - part cost $55 to $60 at the parts store, but if you purchase it online you can pick it up for under $20)
*Once you have checked all that, the only thing left is the starter itself. The starter on a K24 engine will cost anywhere from $400 to $600 including the starter if you take it to a professional shop. If you plan on replacing it yourself, plan on a four to five hour job if you have never completed one before.
