Well, it does reach 100k, so that's something...
Be aware that due to the tall gearing the speedo error is a LOT less than original, so 100 on the speedo is 100 on GPS (a bit more actually)
Current specs:
186cc Tbolt cylinder/piston
Minor porting on stock head, dual valve springs
Kitaco type 1 camshaft (it won't really rev without a valve/port job anyway, so this drives better than the TBolt cam)
Yuminashi 1:1 4th gear
15-31 gearing
China high mount header coupled to Honda CB1 muffler
Stock throttle body with cheap go-kart filter (as oil cooler occupies the space of the original filter)

Yes, that's what the "K" stands for in the description.

My almost stock Grom does over 100k.

I'm sure it does, when I reverted it back to (almost) stock it reached almost the same indicated top speed. But it wasn't nearly as fast.

Top speed pretty much depends on the gearing and RPM. Sure the engine power matters too but how you getting faster speed with limited gearing and RPM?
@gokwokgokwok

@@anthonylim2428 Gearing can be changed (quite extensively on groms actually) but the main reason this video looks terrible is because the speed sensor is on the output shaft of the gearbox. So it's directly dependant on engine rpm, if you reach 8000rpm in 4th gear it'll indicate you're doing 100kmh, no matter the gearing behind it or the actual speed. That's why groms get 'faster' when the gearing is shortened. The 100kmh indicated here is about 103-104 GPS because of the 1:1 4th gear and relatively tall gearing. The shorter gearing will however make it easier to reach your top speed under all circumstances. Bottom line: the 186cc could cruise at 90kmh GPS without too much effort, the 125cc will reach it, but you have to go (nearly) flat out to maintain it. On the other hand, the 125cc did not have any heat issues.

Hey can u tell me your setup I’m planing on going the 186 route but looking for the right way to go

The setup is in the description actually, but it changes slightly every now and then. In any case: it really depends on what you want, do you want to just make the stock grom a bit faster ? Use the 186cc, get a bigger injector, get an oil cooler, some temp gauges for oil and cylinder head temp, use an ebay exhaust and either flash the original ecu (that's what I did, it's definitely capable enough), get an aftermarket ECU (like aracer) or install a power commander/i-map/fi-con piggyback. If you try to run it on the original map it will destroy your piston, even if the fueling is right. When you do that and don't try to run it flat out each day it'll probably be fine for quite a while and deliver 14-15hp or so. Or you can go big with all the headwork, bigger valves, different crankshaft etc and go for 20+ HP (and have no money left for gas ;) )

Unless you invest in a lot of headwork you won't get anywhere, the head is the main restriction on the Grom, but once you tackle that you're likely to grenade a crank a day ;) I tried the TB 186 cam on my 125 stock cylinder, it turned it into a 2-stroke like power delivery, it would rev like crazy and really keep building power up to 10K no issues. Then installed the 186 kit and all of that was gone, it was nearly the same power delivery as stock, completely dead after 8K. Just more torque and hp, and it was slightly faster than the 125 with TB cam, but much, much easier to drive. After changing to the much milder Kitaco cam it didn't lose anything up top, but it did gain a bit in low and midrange. Problem with the original map and a big bore is the ignition, it's based on throttle position vs rpm (alpha-n) and it has massive ignition advance in overrun (ie: no load) conditions to help with emissions. Unfortunately, with a big bore kit you suddenly start cruising in this area because you don't have to go WOT to cruise at 90km, which turns your spark plug into a very effective plasma torch, something fueling cant fix.

@@gokwokgokwok I will install a Yuminashi 164 cc kit with a high lift cam/valves and ECU on my 2015 Grom. And an expensive exhaust. Hoping for 17-18 hp :-)

The maximum speed is definately not 100 there. If you want to race, go to a track like the nuboekring.

I will keep that in mind for my next 0-100 video, thank you for reminding me that it's not ok to speed on public roads.
