Thanks you for your comments! I do my best to keep up with them for the first few days after a video comes out, but due to the volume of comments on all of my videos, and to the general hustle and bustle of life, I must give up the fight after a while. If you are leaving a question four or more days after a video comes out I can't guarantee I'll see it, but perhaps one of my other viewers knows the answer and can help out. Thanks in advance to those who contribute and share their knowledge. Cheers and stay safe everyone!

Commuted 8 years on an e-bike and yes, it cheaper than anything else. However, timed my ride for off peak traffic, took as many neighborhood / back roads as possible, constantly watching the weather and was close to a bus line if needed, never felt total safe especially at dawn and dusk (had all kinds of lights and reflectors), did have a secure employee garage but others had bikes stolen or damaged, did take the battery into work to charge and for security, kept a change of cloths and rain gear at work, and had access to an employee gym for a shower. The big insight was I looked for to the morning ride but after work I just wanted to get home but I had an 11 mile ride in front of me. Now I take the bus where everyone keeps to themselves and listens to their music because we are a divided scared anti-social USA. Big mistake, I was really meant to be born in Amsterdam.

I think the sweet spot for a city motorcycle is the 125cc range. The manufacturers keep them out of our market (Canada) because they would severely eat into the larger motorcycle market. The Honda click 125 is massively popular in SE Asia and the Yamaha Lexi is also a massively functional ride. This size can go anywhere efficiently and quickly. Pity they are not available in North America.
@DifferentSpokesTV
@DifferentSpokesTV Год назад
Yeah, our choice of 125s is definitely thin.

Being a cager, rider and cyclist, I'm absolutely in the e-bike camp for city commuting. But I don't really like the massive, 80lb moped sized bikes. 350w motors, 36v, and enough range for your commute are all you need - my 350w Ride1up V2 roadster has about 15-20 miles of range and works perfectly for my needs The reason I like an ebike that only weighs 40lbs or less is that you can pick it up and move it. I can carry my bike down the stairs to my subway stop, it's easy to haul up and down flights of stairs around the ferry without needing to wait for an elevator, it just flows with other forms of transit that I take (two ferries and a train each way) much better. It also handles more like a bicycle, the fat bike tires make steering heavy and numb. It also just encourages me to go ride. This year I straight up forgot/lacked the motivation to de-winterize my motorcycles. I live within a 5 minute ride of all the things I need, so I just hop on the bike and go, and the electric motor makes it so I'm not sweaty when I get there (there are some serious hills out here) If I had to commute more than 10 miles each way though, I'd probably go for a super cub or old vespa. One thing I've noticed though is that my commute switching to e-bike, we went from 2 cars + a truck to basically struggling to justify more than 1 car. It's helped us downsize.

I went from a pcx 150 to a ktm duke 390 and I'm very happy with both. The ktm allows me a commute on the highway and is still narrow enough for the city, fun on the weekend in the canyons and even some longer rides out of the city.

Great video thanks so much for sharing. Being a pensioner makes it hard to afford bikes but saying that if I could afford them having a small bike in my garage would be a must. I’ve been riding more than 50 years and frequently ride my bicycle sometimes up to 40 or 50km obviously unassisted and looking at a lot of the rockets today they miss one important factor and that is simple fun which is something I look at more than anything else. An E-bike would be a great thing but quality ones here in Australia cost about $6000AUD and up and something like a monkey would be great to but sadly we’ve lost them thanks to our new Australian road safety regulations which banned new bikes like the Monkey bike and CT125 because of new ABS requirements which is a shame as I owned a Monkey back in the very early seventies. Anyway great job I really enjoy your content. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

I have a 2019 ruckus and its great overall i can get mine a little over 40 mph on straights but wind and large hills definitely bog it down but it handles 35 mph roads surprisingly well but other than being a bit slow its a cheap, efficient, fun vehicle also great plus at least where i live is you dont need a motorcycle license to ride one and being a Honda it should last a long time

Now I ride a CRF 250L rally & that thing is pretty damn good, NOT good on the highway obviously but anything within the city around 65 mph or less she does really good. Plus the rally has those really good dakar looks & the LED headlight & high beam set it apart + the extra plastics dress it up just a good looking dirt bike for the street imo 😂

@@DifferentSpokesTV hell yeah, that 300 CRF is nice. I was going to get the 300 rally but the dealer pulled some weird shit & it was about $2,000 more than my 250 rally & mine only had 170 mi when I bought it!👍 Kawasaki makes great bikes my buddy has the KLX 250 dual sport against my CRF250L rally we are were battling non-stop both of our bikes are 2018 fuel injected one is just Kawasaki the other is Honda when our bikes were 🦴 stock it was literally a tie & we probably did 💯 different races! Now my bike has the slip on exhaust and a tune from 550 performance. If you want your 300 to run better in every scenario for a very reasonable price ✅ out that tune company you just have to put 91 octane but my God it's worth it! The guy makes tunes for bikes 250-300cc CRF that are lightly modified, 🦴 stock or even custom I'm sure + he's a very nice guy. At least look into it "550 performance" ✅ out "motorcycles off road" on RU-vid he did a video about 550 performance that's how I found out about it. It only takes less than 10 minutes to change out the ECU & no downtime.

I rode a TOMOS Targa 50cc, a cool fairing, & large wheels(20").. did 42mph w/ added muffler/electrical stuff & 110 MPG gas. Once you ride a small bike like these you learn how to get along in traffic - you become a Defensive Rider if you want to live, lol?! And I'm all for these type bikes in a city/town. Ohh, how bout the $3000 Honda 150L dual sport as an option? Even in places where you're able to go the posted speeds, it's still wise to allow impatient vehicles to get on by you soon as it's safe to do so. I never had any problems w/ traffic b/c I didn't flex my muscle & hold traffic ever, I wanted everyone who wanted to get by, to do it asap. I rode this 50cc bike for 3 1/2 yrs & it changes how you see traffic & how you drive later. It makes you conscious of other drivers and what their move is likely to be? Riding these little bikes teaches you how to better read the traffic you are in.... a learned skill that I wish more drivers showed ~ IF Road Rager's were forced to ride any of the bikes on this video for 1 year, they'd basically be cured from all the poor choices & attitudes they had prior. They'd come back w/ a whole different perspective on driving. I'd love to see that, if it might be true? Great video, any of these are great in the city/town.... not so good for over 55mph

Maybe in some parts of Europe where they are more aware of bikes in their culture for the tiny 50cc-150cc bikes for commuting, but you will have a good chance of dying riding these in Toronto, Ottawa or Montreal. Great mileage, but short life, lol. You need something very agile, dual sports like a Kawasaki KLX300 or Honda CRF300 at a minimum, with decent enough low end torque pulling away from the numerous stops/traffic lights on your commute, but moreover the nice long suspension travel for the crap Cdn city roads - my best choice for a commuter? Suzuki DR650 - bulletproof and gobs of torque & great cushy suspension. Thanks for the video.

If I ride between traffic to the front of the line, then I'll be between cars at the traffic light. In that position I would feel much safer if I can out-accelerate the cars next to me when the light hits green. A good city bike doesn't need a fast 0 - 60 mph acceleration, but a fast 0 - 30 mph acceleration is very useful for traffic safety. A Ninja 400 is more than fast enough, but in traffic, I wouldn't feel safe on a bike that is a lot slower than that. Sometimes gaps between cars are quite narrow, so you definitely want a narrow bike, no wide handlebars or side cases!
@DifferentSpokesTV
@DifferentSpokesTV Год назад
Yes, a small naked bike is a good choice as well. Dual sports also make great city commuters.
@Randolini
@Randolini Год назад
Sorry, but my choice would be a 150cc Grom clone like the RPS 150 Condor, the Lifan X Pro 150 or my favorite, the Kymco Spade 150. They will run 45 to 50 mph with a lot left over. I do ride a Versys X 300 ADV ABS, and have an MC endorsement on my license.
